"Eldrad is the greatest among us.He is the sun which eclipes the light of our stars. He is ulthwe, and the fate of our kind rests in his hands. His eyes are the keenest, no detail goes unnoticed.Four thousand runes can he cast, guiding our path through torment and war, death and salvation. He is the pathfinder, the seeker, the true guide. Even your race has trembled before his might, though you may not have known it .It was he who guided us to the ork known as Ghazghkull, and commanded us to steer his path to your world armagedden. Ten thousand eldar lives would have been lost if he hd not done so. what sacrifice is a million humans for such a cause?

so so forth and so forth, taken from the eldar codex fluff and im typing one handed, hurt my shoulder at work today or I would finish it off, but well theres your answer:ninja:

slight more than that, the Eldar have always interefered in other races for their own ends, this includes Medusa V by the looks of it, they do this in a mirriad of ways, directly and indirectly, they see all the paths the future can take and do what is necessary to guide ti down the path they want, for example, if we attack all the pirates in these sectors with sufficient force, they will withdraw, the varrious mauled bands will regroup and start activities in a different area, the response will be that imperial navy activity will increase in that area, requiring reserves to be pulled from yet another area, meaning that this next area will be low on imperial presence, this in turn means that a tyranid spilnter fleet, instead of spending weeks fighting the imperials, spend a couple of days, meaning that they carry on moving through the galaxy and bump into the orks, the orks, detecting the nids, veer off, ariving at, for example armegedon, that is the level of machiavellian path the eldar tread although even that requires direct action (the attack on the pirates) this is actually more than most of the Eldar intervention entails, dont forget they are the best psychers, they could easily implant ideas in mon-keigh heads, or pay off contacts with cash or goods/technology, generaly their intervention is a combination of many many interventions and 99% of the time the Humans are not aware of the minor intervention, never mind the whole grand plan
Everything you have been told is a lie!

From WD203, a conversation between Eldrad and Ulthwé. Ulthwé is doing the talking in this instance.

The Orks must be diverted. The balance of power must be swung in favour of the one called Ghazkull Mag Uruk Thraka. They will descend upon the children of humanity and leave us in peace.
    Or words to that effect.

From that, my guess is that the Eldar launched a pre-emptive strike against another ork warlord in Ghazkul's vicinity (not sure whether it was Urk itself or not, they could even be behind the death of its sun), ensuring that in a pre-Armageddon piece of infighting, Ghazkull came out on top.

A little bit of extrapolation on the Urk comment. Urk was where Ghazkull originally came from, and he started getting prophetic visions after suffering a headwound and being patched up by Mad Dok Grotsnik. His ramblings were more or less ignored (as he wasn't in a position to be warboss at this point), until Urk's sun started to grow dim and die. He then started proclaiming it a message from Gork that a Waaagh! should be started again. And the orks agreed with him.

If you read the quote more it basically says that yes, we the eldar are the drama queens on the glaxay. We will screw around anyone to and play race againsted race to inshure the best possoble outcome for us. It even says something along the lines of we tried to warn the Emperor about horus.

But for the most part, Eldar equals = we will screw everyone over so that the fewest amount of Eldar die.
