I was jst wondering, is it possible for two different geneseeds to be spliced together? I was hoping to create a chapter, who's geneseed had been created from the Imperial Fists and the Raven Guard.
On a practical note. No, I don't think it is.. They tried it in the cursed founding, and it all went a little wrong.
On a secondary note, I have to ask why. It's not like the genes for being sneaky are transmitted in Raven Guard geneseed, or the honour code of the Imperial Fists is carried over just because a chapter shares their gene seed. Most new chapters will not have any contact with their parent chapter save perhaps a bit of initial training.
So in short, you could have a chapter descended from the Imperial Fists who took part in cannibalistic orgies and rode to battle on giant whales.. Make the chapter you want, then pick whatever geneseed you want. Unless you pick one of the odd ones like the Blood Angels, it will likely have little effect.

While I can't provide a source, I know that it has been done - I believe a number of chapters have been made from the ultramarines and dark angels geneseed. As for the choice of chapters, try and choose fairly stable geneseeds - Imperial Fists and Raven Guard sounds good, but obviously something like Blood Angels and Space Wolves would e a little too deviant - blood drinking, alcoholic, insane vampires with the teeth to boot!
The only difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is that tattooed people are awesome and can kick your ass.

I thought that genesplicing was technoheresy, and that was part of the reason that the Cursed Founding was kept so quiet. As Mantis says, it's not like the chapter's combat doctrine is contained in their geneseed, unless they have a special thing about it (like BA). It's even likely that the chapter that trains the newly founded one isn't the same as donated the geneseed, as it's the Adeptus Mechanicus that organise things on that side of the founding, rather than anyone who could ask for a geneseed-training match-up.
Speaking of geneseed splicing and the cursed founding, have any of you ever read index astartes 2? In the very back of the book it talks about an explorator team who discovers some new type of marines that are bigger and stronger. Could this be a result of geneseed splicing, and if so what are the, because they certainly not marines. Maybe an attempt to create a new primarch......

I've a feeling they're actually failed Sons of Anateus, who are a marines chapter, just with hugely overexaggerated musculature and bone structure. Although it was suggested in the passage, I think they were intended to just be Sons rather than a recreation of the Primarchs.
