I did a saerch and couldn't find anything, so sorry if this has been posted before. My question is what is the proper equipment of Horus? In the older fluff he was depicted with twin lightning claws and Abaddon is modeled with the one he tore of Horus' wrist. But in the newer fluff I have seen him with a lighting claw and a power mace, so which is it? I beleive it to be the twin LC's but I could be wrong, does anyone know for certain?

For the armaments of the Traitor Warmaster Horus, who's name is a curse upon a million worlds and for every one of his sons that falls ten more shall take his place, it varies from thought to thought. Some belived he carried two LCs with experimental storm bolters on each, the same weapon which his bastard son carries now. As for others, their ideas were a single lightning claw with a experimental storm bolter, and a power mace which he used to crush his enemes.

right...well, image of Horus in the latest rulebook shows him with his lightning claw, the one Abbadon now carries, and a power mace., so I'd go with that, though it looks a little boring. If GW decides to give him a helmet with bunny ears and a Rubber Chicken of Malice in the next edition then we'll have something to talk about.

The only example of him using a power maul is in the single picture in the 4th edition rulebook, and since illustrations provide shaky fluff - they can be interpreted in numerous ways - it's not really canon. I'd go with the twin lightning claws option, since lightning claws are nearly always used in pairs, and the older fluff backs it up.

Actually the old fluff about the battle between horus and the Emperor talks about how Horus crushed the Emperors breatsplate and ribs with a blow from his mace doesn't it?

In any case I am sure that the Warmaster was an expert in a number of weapons and probably used different equipment throughout the Great Crusade.

It never said he crushed it with a mace. It said that Horus delt the Emperor a fatal blow that put him into the Golden Throne.

I'd tend to go with only one LC, because otherwise Abaddon would have taken both. Also, there's a theory that the Talon of Horus was in fact a force claw since it's "fused to his armour by its own psychic energies".

There was another piece where it went into a lot more detail on the actual fight itself.. and yes, I believe Horus was using a mace, though I can't remember.Originally Posted by DerkaDerka
Another piece of artwork, 'blades of the traitor' shows what I believe is Horus forging his Talon. I don't think it was just a normal lightning claw which was given to him by the Imperium, so the Imperial logic about using them in pairs may not have applied.

But in the 3rd edition SM codex it shows the emperor fighting horus and he has twin linked lighting claws. So is GW changing fluff again? Maybe when the 3rd Horus Heresy novel come out we can find out for sure.
