Last night, my room mate was snoring loudly, and i couldn't get to sleep at all.

    so i got to thinking

what would ever get the craft world eldar and tau to fight?

i mean, if i remember correctly, the tau empire is quite a distance from the old eldar worlds. I would imagine the tau would be all but begging the eldar to join their greater good concept. course, i don't really see the eldar going for it.

any other thoughts on the subject?

maybe if the tau stole something important or allied with someone the eldar were against, or if the tau agreed to help someone (imperial guard, space marines) attack eldar?

Well the very late Farseer Eldrad Ulthran said he had always had a special place for the Tau in his heart and I think he really liked them (which is why I do not think the Ethereals are evil because he did not see any dark shadow over them). But I think the Alaitoc Craftworld is somewhere close to the Tau empire. But I'm sure their farseers have successfully changed any course that would cause a headlong collision

The Eldar show contempt for races as old as humanity. They probably think of the Tau's burgeoning empire as children- not something to even take seriously. The Eldar take what they want, when they want it. This would naturally bring them into conflict with the Tau's expanding empire.

This is true and the rest of the Eldar probably do not share Eldrad's affection for the Tau

i was thinking just recently that maybe a dark eldar raid on a sept world could spark a war, as the young tau don't know the difference between dark eldar and craftworld eldar

The Eldar would probly avoid the Tau because It would be very hard to get to them considering they are surrounded on all sides(Three by the Imperium and One by the Tyranids). So I don't see anything big happening in the near future.
