im wondering what the old 2nd edition chaos god of vengeance/animosity was, im writing some fluff aboot some warriors who worship him

I did not know him either some time ago, but I got enlightened (if this is possible if you are talking about the gods of chaos...) It's Malal!

Malal is the god of self destructive hatred, cannibalism and stuff like that.
GW can't use his name any more, but there are already some space marines who, it has been hinted, do worship him. They are called the sons of malice, and their colour scheme (very similar to the colours of the malal symbol) is in the Chaos Codex.
Basically, they skulk around randomly attacking anything they come into contact with, and have massive cannibalistic rituals. They turned traitor after the chapter master saccrificed and ate an inquisitor in an ecstatic frenzy.
great, ive been stumped for a while on that one
thnx for the help though(Y)

Malal is also supposed to have a special grudge against the other gods, at least in fantasy.
He is the fifth major God, at least until GW losed the rights to use his name (don't ask me why, can't remember).
He used to be the 5th, "god". But as already stated, he doesn't really exsist anymore in 40k fluff. Malal is a part of the "old fluff" that is obsolete and no longer used by GW. Up there with the emperor being created by "shamans". If you were to try to fit him into current 40k fluff you'd be better off treating him as a very powerful undivided deamon, with no loyalities to the big 4, and with his own agenda. He would be more of a demi-god, not quite in the supreme god status of the big 4.

ummm, when did that change, just because its older fluff doesnt mean its obsolete does it?
And I would say if you where trying to incoperate him into current 40K go with him being a uber-daemon, or a lesser undivided god. would probley work out the best that way:yes: :shifty:
FluffMaster on a mission to turn people to the Sisters of battle, yes folks it's all about SoB squads in Repressors with lots of flamer templates for the win.
I'll jump in here becuase I was a huuuuuuge Malal fan back in the day!
Yes there were officially 5 chaos gods. Malal was made famous by his champion in fantasy Kaleb dark who had a particularly gnarly axe called dreadaxe.
The problem was kaleb dark was a comic character, his strips appeared in the citidal journal back in the eighties. The thing was though that even though it was set in the warhammer world GW didnt own the rights to him and Malal, the comic authors Wagnar and Grant did so eventually GW were no longer allowed to use them in any of their games.
Malal rocked, becuase he would fight anything! he was pure chaos in so much as he would even fight against chaos! he was half wolf and half crocodile, had 6 fingers on each hand and 3 eyes and his sacred number was 11. His symbol was a skull that was one side white and one side black.
His deomons were called doomed ones and they were like lizard things with a weapon called a soulblade made from the burning hatred of a witchhunters soul that died fighting a deamon...cool!
I had always thought the sons of malice were a veiled referance to him but had never had it confirmed.
anyway, he deserves to be brought back in some form coz he rocked!
