On the world of idolo in the legaia chain of planets there was a rebeleon lead by the planetary royal family of gala in the 5th month of that year. The reason for this was twofold, one there was a massive food shortage because there was a nearby battle going on for the hive would of marrgeer and the people were looking to them for help.Even more so when the local govement did nothing.
Second was the idea that a quick victory over the local PDF would enable the royal family to return to power as the local guard army would be to busy with the campaign on marrgeer.
war on Idolo
The small royal force of only 5 armys new that they would have too hit the two most importent PDF bases near the captal "bleatal" as well as the main star port at the city "unatey".
On the 22nd day of the 5 month the 5th royal army under the command of general powles attacked the first PDF base "hope".
powles new that he would need to take the defenders completely by surprise as the web of pillboxes, troop shelters and anti-tank turrets would cause heavy causalities on forces that would be needed when the expected imperial guard army arrived to help out
the loacl PDF. The attack began at 22:21 pm as three platoons of the royal dragons attacked the north area of the base under cover of darkness quickly overwhelming the single squad guarding the area.
With the way now open powles sent in his main force of 20 platoons and 50 leman russ tanks under the command of captain
cotel. By this time the alarm was raysed and a storm of fire rained down on the advancing men from the 3 massive towers that had not been destroyed by the opening missile strike and over 100 were killed in the first few minuets of the assault.
Cotel was later shot for this as powles feared that he would be blamed for this oversight. As the royal forces made there way into the base grounds they found many men simply surrendered to them as the speed of the assault had lelf them all bewildered.
The battles for the space port and the second base were over a lot faster then antispated as the local forces were outnumbered 15 to 1 in tanks and over 10 to 1 in tanks. Only 5000 men of the 30,000 based there made it out alive and the total loses for the PDF were
catastrophic. The 3 battles were over in only 2 days and by then the govement realized that they needed help from the nearby imperial army.
the 10th arrive
As the battle raged on at marrgeer general kleen got word of the events on idolo and immedatly reroots a troop ship carrying the 10th army of the laren lancers to idolo.
The commander of the laren lancers was called general renn menasey, at only 42 he was
new to the whole general idea and only got the job two months ago when general barns passed away at the end of there last campaign. The 10th took two whole weeks to arrive on idolo and by that time the royle army had more that enuff time to dig in around
the captal and rebuild hope base to some working order. As the star port was in enemy hands the 10th were forced to land at the city of "jaerman" that was over 10 miles from the captal "bleatal" were the king was commanding his armys.
The locals were not happy when the guard army arrived on there holy world as many felt that the king was only trying to save his people from starvation.
The 10th moved out on the 15th of the 6th month heading for the holy capital.
General menasey moved his army numbering 140,000 men with 400 tanks up the main road leading to bleatal meeting no enemy resistance withing the first 5 miles to the captial. The king and his general staff had long released that open battle with
the imperial guard was suicide so they decided that they would hold a defensive line along the hills near the city of tlarlear only 3 miles from the capital.
As the imperial army moved closer to tlarlear they came under fire from enemy basilisk batteries behind the hills.
The lead units took cover but the tanks were too slow to get off the road in time and many were lost. A recon of the hills later made it clear to menasey that the enemy were dug in around the hill and in force. What he couldnt see was the 2nd royal army under cover just south of the hill ready to suport the 4th if they came under attack.
menasey moved in 5 platoons in to attack the Hills and try to find a weak point in there line. At the same time he moved a force of 34 platoons up ready to explote any weaknesses found.
The 5 platoons began there attack at 4;07pm and with cover fire from leman russ tanks of the 2nd armored company pushed up the hill until heavy enemy fire pinned them in place half way up.
By this time the 2nd was slowly moving up to the hill being attacked as the commander of the 4th had radioed that the main attack was being made at hill112 when in fact the imperial army still had not committed there main assault force hoping to tempt the enemy out of its well-fortified positions, and then to pummel them with there tanks and what few bombers they had.
The battle for hill 112 had been going on for one whole hour as both sides sent in more and more men. The royal 2nd was now fully commited to the battle for hill 112 and now cobra hill next to it on the west side. menasey could now see that this simple probeing of the enemy lines had become a massive battle that had drawn in most of the enemy reserves.
It was at this point that a great plan occurred to him, one of such compelling simplicity that he was surprised it had not struck him earlier.
He send most of the 2nd armored company to swing around the enemy on there lefl in a huge armoured left hook and at the same time he would hold the enemy in place with the 34 platoons he had been kepping in reserve.
The plan worked perfectly and as the 2nd moved up to there positions near the hill the tanks smashed into the weak flank of the 2nd and scatted them in a matter of minutes. With there rear lines cut and lack of any more reinforcements it wasnt long befor hill 112 fell to the guard and when that happened menasey moved up 2 whole divisions into the gap made and began to roll up the enemy positions from the rear.
As the commanders of the royal army learned what was happening and released that there whole line at the west flank had collapsed they sent there men screaming down the hills in a poory planed counter-attack. By then they could see that the battle was over and pulled back any forces that werent allready running away.
At the end of the days fighting around 20 royal divisons were completely destroyed and over 32.000 prisoners were taken leaving the city of tlarlear open to the imperial army and the capital only 3 miles away.
This is the first part of my fluff, hope i get around to adding to it later

Anyone read this yet, i would like some feedback as its my first try at this kind of thing
Anything that needs work?
I don't think there are any royal families in the 41st millenium. It should be the govoner of the planet and not a monach.

Thanks for taking the time to read it, i didnt think anyone was going to post
Im sure there must be some royal familys out there as long as they dont mine giving up power to the emperor, in the book necropolis the hive is run by some "noble" famliys so a royal farmliy isnt that far off
I'd have to agree with Mortarion, a planetary governor would suit the fluff of the Imperium better than a royal family. However, you could make it so the planetary governor falls out of the Imperium and throws off his title as Planetary Governor for whatever you think would suit him.
Other than that it's pretty good fluff, hope to see the rest soon!

If you read it the royal farmliy arnt in power at the time as there the ones starting the whole rebellion so that they can return to power
No, the royal famalie is a good idea, but it just dosn't work in 40k.
You could use planatary govonors or nobilatie and have them claim the world as above the Emporors law, with them in controle and they make themselves royaltie after claiming the world.

I think you could try to include images of some of the battles in order to gain a better perspective of the events as the story seems to contain quite a few strategic elements.
An interesting read nonetheless and I am curious as to what may happen next.
