This is the theme of my Imperial Guards. They are of a scavaging bunch because of what happened in the past that warranted them without direct imperial materials. Well without further ado, here is the history of the Emperor's Advocates.
A sudden lost of communication with the Imperial planet Tantious XXII that could not be explained under normal circumstances caught the attention of the Inquistion. With orders to investigate the planet for possible corruption involving Xeno presence, Inquistor Seravius was dispatch to Tantious XXII. It was within a couple of lightyears from Tantious XXII that Inq. Seravious discovered the cause. An overwheming invasion force of Chaos had infitrated the Tantious system and was heading to Tantious XVI, a jungle planet, which was the central communication hub within the system. If this planet fell to the Chaos, the remaining Imperial planets in the system would be cut off from communication from each other and outside the system. Inq Seravious with a cold resolve and determination was going to hold back the black tide. He sent back a distress message calling for any space marines force for assistance and directed his outnumbered task force to Tantious XVI.
Once upon the planet, Inq. Seravious brought the planet's imperial army under his control to prepare the defense against the chaos. A massive maze of trenches were built around all heavily populated cities and space ports. Through out this were hellish traps set aside for the foul invaders. Inq Seravious ordered the commanding officers to ellict the last rituals among the troops and the brave citizens who chose to fight for he knew his men and the Tantious force were going to suffer horrendious losses but they will hold. As the sky turned black from the thousands of Chaos drop pods descending onto the planet's surface, Inq Seravious ordered the planet's laser defense to fire at will into the sky. All across the planet, the sky glowed a hellish red as the lasers illuminated off the drop pods and destroying very little of the invading forces.
"They are not stopping them my Lord. There is far too many of them." said the high Cl. Xargoni.
"I know Cl. but this will be the only chance we will have to take the fight to them. For once they assemble into a fighting force, we will be on the defense from then on out. We will not again be on the offense for they will strike too hard and fast. They will out man us, over power us, and over run us." respond Inq Seravius as he watched the sky.
"We stand no chance then." muttered Cpt Kravis
"Indeed we do. We have one thing that they will never have. Faith. Faith alone is all we have going for us and it will win this invasion. Faith, the Emperor will bless us, you will see" responded Inq Seravious in a tone that echoed through the mass of soldiers behind him.
The battle for Tantious XVI was long and bloody. After a decade of fighting, Inq. Seravious was defending the only spaceport under his control with the small force of Imperial troops left. Despite the massive losses of troops, his men will held strong. They were beaten, worn, and weary but they still held their faith that the Emperor would bless them. Inq Servious spoke his words to the troops and rallied them their strength and made them more determine to hold this spaceport against this massive force of chaos or die. It was as the chaos was about to breach the defending walls when a massive salvo of missles and bombs rained down upon the enemy all around. The message was answered, for the Emperor was blessing them at last, His Space Marines had arrived. The combined drop pods of the Space Wolves and the Blood Ravens landed in the spaceport and reinforced Inq. Seravious and what was left of his Imperial forces. With the Space Marines, the chaos was defeated and the planet brought back under Imperial control. The Chaos force was purged from the Tantious system.
Inq. Seravious with what was left of his Inquisitive force was leaving the planets to the marines and heading out to replenish his force and investigate another situation in another system. What was left of the Tantious XVI Imperial force was too little to be effective and was order to be exterminate, however Inq. Seravious offered them a place within his Inquisitive force out of respect. The harden jungle force accepted that position with honors and to this day fight along side of Inq. Seravious.
When the Inquisitive Ordello found out that Inq Seravious defiled their direct orders of exterminatius, he was ordered to stand before the council. Through monthly deliberations, the council branded Inq Seravious as a radical in which left Inq Seravious without the aid of the Grey Knights or any imperial materials. Inq responded that they never came to their aid on Tantious XXVI, only the neighboring space marines. As Inq Seravious was leaving the council, he left them with the one finger salute and departing words. "Grey Knights, Hmmp, we need no stinking Grey Knights!" Inq Seravious drew his power sword and spiked the point into the floor. As the loud dull klank of steel echoed throughout the chamber, Inq Seravious spoke "And this is what I think of your no Imperial materials." Inq. Seravious walked away from the council, leaving his sword behind.
Where the heck did all them guardsmen come from?
Great Wolf! Is that the howl of the 13th?
Somehow, the name raises funny images..
"We need to turn up the heat on these chaos scum! Abaddon, I'm suing you for professional misconduct.. Please sign here!"
Yes, I know you didn't mean that kind of Advocate, but still.
The story is good, but the entire chaos force wouldn't land in drop pods. Only the space marines, a tiny fraction, have drop pods. The rest will be carried in the legion's ships, and dropped using conventional landing craft, probably massive in scale.
' Click' was the sound that the fireing pin made in the bolt gun as the chamber was loaded with the Emperors divine judgment.
'Karrr-clakkk-boom-' Was the sound that the bolter made as it was fired at the Radical inquisitor, his lifeless (and headless) body nothing more then a pulp of red stuff on the floor.
As the councel left the the chambers after the Heritics confession and renouciation of the most holy inquisition, a servitor on eight spider-legs scurried up to the mess on the floor and fufilled it programming.
Thats what I think would happen personally if a inquisitor tried to renouce the GK and the inquisition...
FluffMaster on a mission to turn people to the Sisters of battle, yes folks it's all about SoB squads in Repressors with lots of flamer templates for the win.
After all, the guy who just pulled that trigger has killed an inquisitor. Since all inquisitors are effectively the same rank (even inquisitor lords only hold that title because they have more respect) then any inquisitor who does blatantly kill another one is opening himself up for his rivals to start screaming for his blood as well.
I think it's far more likely they'd let him leave the chamber, maybe even get off world, then convince a couple of a naive over-fanatical inquisitors that he's a scummy traitor in need of hunting down. If that fails, send in a death cult assassin.
Maybe it's just my view, but I think two things come across from Inquisitor, which I naturally see as the best source for all things inquisition:
1. The Inquisition is very divided in its groups and opinions. They don't make unified decisions, everyone's just pushing their own agenda.
2. Because of this, Inquisitors have to be clever and subtle. Those who aren't are generally little more than pawns for those who are.
