Well I finally read up enough to take a stab at writing the fluff for my Stormcrows Chapter. Here is a quick synopsis of what I have so far. Once I get it finalized I'll do another post with more of a narrative flavor to it.

Drawback - Flesh Over Steel
Raven Guard Successor Chapter
It all began with a mutant Codicier named Iberius who was kept out of the way cataloguing and archiving for Epistolary Targus in the Raven Guard. They both served on Bastard Omen, a Raven Guard fleet ship. The mutation in the Raven Guard geneseed that resulted in Iberius' psychic abilities also robbed him of sight. He was almost rejected by the Librarium who had detected his psychic potential. However the Chaplain that was there to oversee initiates, then Reclusiarch Morvran, saw something in Iberius and recommended his initiation despite his handicap. He was initiated as a Lexicanium, despite his shortcomings. However, he was never to rise beyond a Codicier, and never see battle. He was left to archive, his sight amended with cybernetic implants.
Iberius had prophetic dreams, which Targus saw as signs of warp taint and dismissed offhand. However now Master Chaplain Morvran saw them as holy and when Iberius had a dream about a planet within range of Deliverance being overrun with 'Nid, he commandeered the Bastard Omen in the name of the Emperor. With Iberius at the lead the patrol ship landed on Montevidri and started thorough scouting which eventually turned up a massive underground complex riddled with bugs. They managed to collapse the caverns but in an effort to keep the bugs beneath, heavy losses were accrued.
The High Lords of Terra were intrigued by the prophetic nature of Iberius' dreams, and they founded a successor Chapter to the Raven Guard using the same strain of Iberius' geneseed. It results in blind neophites, who are kept blind up until they are ready to become scouts. This forces them to develop the same extra sensory perception as Iberius had to develop early on (Acute Sense). As scouts, they are given cybernetic sight as their first bionics.
The Stormcrows act as a patrol and counter-attack chapter. They land on apparently unthreatened planets or barren ones, much to the chagrin of many other chapters. However, they always seem to be there to harry forward forces of Xenos or Chaos, and to raise the alarm of an incoming invasion. The Stormcrows have no fortress-monestary and operate as 10 individual cells, called Murders, each cell made up of a Thunderhawk and 50 marines. The young Chapter is still mostly scouts, with only half the compliment of Marines as other chapters, and what armor they have is all based on the Rhino chassis, with no heavy armor, mostly relying on infantry as was their founding chapter, making much use of infiltration by scouts as well as devastator and tactical squads.
However, the prophetic nature of Iberius' dreams earned the Stormcrows enemies among the Ordo Malleus, who seem them as evidence of warp taint. THe jealous Librarian Targus has much to do with that. There is one particular Inquisitor who will attack a Murder of Stormcrows if he can get away with it.
Stormcrows Chapter of the Space Marines
What's the color scheme for them? Is your avatar their symbol?
Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will let you know in a major way.
Not all the Emperors Children turned coat. We will redeem our name.
Not bad. I like it. What is the Inquisitors name?
Why use science and education when ignorance and superstition will work just as well.
Very good I like it. It sounds like these Marines will respect thier fluff in the game in regard to thier choices of troops etc.
I think it might be a good idea to include refrences to thier potential allies within the Imperium and not just thier enemies. With the Ordo malleus and an inquisitor after them they would need a few allies.
A Murder of Stormcrows. Hah. That's pretty good.
And I like the blindness. A recurrent theme is always good with successor chapters. And it's not even gimmicky.

Mr_Wayne: "Some people believe that the World Eaters do not field any ranged weaponry. Those people often die at a distance."
Actually, to honor their fluff I wanted to put into place some special Advantages & Drawbacks. I guess I would have to ok them with my opponent prior to any game. Is there any way to get a Chapter, and its special characteristics, recognized by GW so it'll be tourney legal??
Anyways, the special advantage is Acute Sense for all Marines and Scouts. It works with their fluff of special senses.
Drawbacks goes back to the idea of a shortfall in full blown Marines. Cannot field Veteran squads, although can still have Vet Sgts with other squads, and have to field Tact Squads with Scout squads in the following manner;
If only 1 troop choice is allowed: 1 Scout Squad
If only 2 troop choices are allowed: 1 tact squad, 1 scout squad OR 2 scout squads
If only 3 troop choices are allowed: 1 tact squad, 2 scout squads
If only 4 troop choices are allowed: 2 tact squads, 2 scout squads
I think that's a fair tradeoff, specially since Acute Senses is usually just 1 point
Color scheme is monochromatic - fortress gray, chaos black, skull white, with highlights in Codex Gray, and guns in Shadow Gray with chainmail. Tomorrow we are gaming over at a friend's house, and pictures will be taken. Since you can actually see a scout's eyes, I am trying to do them in a mitrhil silver so they look cybernetic.:w00t:
And yes, the emblem of the blind crow is the chapter banner. I have a full banner in the Gallery section. It was too big for my sig.
The Inquisitor's name..I'm actually playing against DH tomorrow night, so if my friend has his Inquisitor named, I'll use that. As to allies - I guess the Raven Guard, and they benefit from favor from the High Lords - however, that probably makes for other chapters to be somewhat jealous. Anyone out there with custom chapters that wants to be allies?? That would be great.
Does anyone know what region of space Deliverance is located at? I wanted to figure out where the Stormcrows roamed.
