hey iv been wondering for awhile, would this be feasable to have say Space Marines with Daemon weapons, i get this idea partly from the book "Conquest of Armageddon" where in a final battle with a Khorne Berzerker (leader) named Hrothqar Furor, a Relictors Space Marine captain(named Oberon Eurys) picked up a Daemon weapon(a Hell-Sword) dropped by a felled Berzerker after losing his own weapon, at the time the Relictors were fighting beside some of the most disgustingly pious and loyal of chapters, the Black Templars. now after the battle the Black Templars were in an uproar over the use of the Hell-Sword (even though he won and all the Zerks were dead) after many words of angered emperor-lovers logic (if it can be so called) then the Relictors captain says to a Black Templars CHAPLAIN of all people this "You a man of faith and intelligence, still hold to the tenet that it is Chaos itself that is inhererently evil, rather than that it is a power put to use by those who are evil. In that way it is no different to the psyker power manipulated with such success by our Librarian Brothers" i think that much of this is true, Chaos is not evil it is merely a reflection of the sentient races in the galaxy's emotions and feelings. he goes on to explain that with the new millenia growing closer that the strategies and ideals of the Imperium must change with it and that a new erra will be uttered in (yatta yatta yatta)
"A souls screams are merely their cries of thanks to the Chaos
"Horus was weak. Horus was a fool. He had the whole galaxy within his grasp and he let it slip away!" -Abbadon The Despoiler
The Kroot: You are what you eat.
Tyranids: YOU are what WE eat.
Many of the most powerful artifacts in use by Imperial heros are either weapons and equipment from either before or during the Horus Heresy or are alien in their origin.
Guns, close combat weapons, armor, all of it has been recovered or taken from fallen warriors of Chaos. Whether they are used or not depends on who captures them. People such as the Templars will likely destroy anything and everything that even has a whiff of chaos about them. Others will destroy the most potentially dangerous. Some simply won't care and will use anything and everything. This last group tends not to last to long...
May your aim be true, and your targets plentiful.
Daemon weapons eh..
Yeah, some Inquisitors, and even some space marine chapters, make use of daemon weapons. However, they're walking a dangerous line. Essentially, you're right, chaos isn't evil. The Emperor himself was a psyker, yadda yadda yadda.
Except that Mr Relictor is completely ignoring the practicalities of what he's doing. It's all very well to stand around saying 'chaos isn't evil.' But the daemon weapon you're holding probably doesn't care if you think it's evil or not. It's a being which has been feeding off the worst drives of humanity since before you crawled out of the womb. To use the daemon weapon, you have to somehow get past the fact that the being inside it likely wants nothing more than to turn you into a mindless puppet.
Even chaos champions have to wrestle with the intelligences bound in their daemon weapons, and they've had thousands of years of practice. Sooner or later, some radical inquisitor or space marine captain who thinks he's big enough to take it is going to discover that actually he can't, and by that stage it's probably too late for him, he's just a pawn of malign intelligences who care about him and his fellows about as much as we might care for an insect.
