So what exactly DO they store in the Black Library? For all the importance it plays in the fluff we know surprisingly little about it. I've heard that it contains the secrets of the galaxy, the secrets of the Chaos Gods, a comprehensive history of the universe, a prophecy concerning the future of the universe, the secrets of the Old Ones, ands weapon schematics. Does anyone actually have the faintest clue?
"You're very interesting, and very perceptive. So interesting, and so perceptive, in fact, that we shall now fight with KNIVES!"
"I've been dead long before you were born, and I'll be dead long before you'll be dead!"
No one knows. All we know is that the Black Library contains exactly what you said, including, more or less, all knowledge on the true nature of Chaos. Even one book would give someone immense power or drive them completely and utterly insane. The fact that the Harlequins guard it along with ancient magical wards and guardians beyond mortal comprehension is enough to tell anyone that the knowledge is too priceless to ever let fall into the hands of the enemy. Of course, some people believe that the knowledge of the Black Library holds the key to defeating the C'tan once and for all, as well as copies of both the Book of Magnus and the Book of Lorgar.
We do know that it contained the Eldar book, The Rhana Dhandra (Sp?) which was stolen by Inquisitor Draco.

And what is "The Rhana Dhandra" (Sp?), the "Book of Magnus" and the "Book of Lorgar"?
The Book of Magnus is Magnus the Red's collection of all sorcerous knowledge he has accumulated throughout the millenia.
The Book of Lorgar is the daemon primarchs tome of summoning daemons and practices.

That's strange. I thought the Book of Lorgar was the collection of all of the Primarch's holy writings? A bible of sorts for the Word Bearers?
Asking what they store in the black library is like asking what the warp looks like. If looking at the warp drives you insane its going to be hard for GW to draw us a realistic picture. We just have to use our imagination.
If the black library has all the answers to the universe or if it can drive you crazy then it's hard for us to really know exactly what it contains. If it is beyond our comprehension then it is going to be impossible for us to know what it is really about. The knowledge there is forbidden to us aswell it seems.
And it would be a bummer if GW ruined what happens at the end of the 40k universe. I don't want to know who wins in the end really.
"DICE FOR THE DICE GOD!"
And the almighty Dice God said to his followers "Thou shalt not speak ye words "anything but a one" For thou whoever'st speaketh this blasphemy will be cursed with thy rolls being of one".
