As the topic states, was High Marshal Helbrecht alive during Horus Heresy? I've been having a friendly debate about this and if you guys look at this site:
It states there there's an inconsistency about a name mispelling or something and that the guy Halbrecht (one of Rogal Dorn's Captain) and Helbrecht is the same. Can you please share your thoughts about this. Any fluff about Helbrecht would be a welcome. Thanks in Advance
I just want to add that Captain Halbracht's name was mentioned in pg. 347 of "The Flight of Eisenstein."

Is all good...
Is Helbrecht spelled Halbrecht? No? Then he wasn't alive then. I believe GW said that the only marines alive today, and who participated in the Heresy, are the traitor Legions. The rest have since long died in wars.
Bjorn the Fellhanded was alive during the Horus Heresy, though he is obviously encased in dreadnought armour these days.
Edit, bah beat me to it.

What about the Fallen Angels? Wouldn't they still be alive, if they were good enough to elude their loyalist Dark Angel bretheren for ten thousand years?
But anyway, I'm going to say with a definite no, Helbrecht was not alive during the Heresy.

That is Captain Halbretch. High Marshal Helbretch was certainly not alive during the Horus Heresy, since First Captain Sigismund was the founder of the Black Templars Chapter and its first leader, and more importantly because there are only two living things remaining from that era. The Emperor and Bjorn.

Like life preserving chambers and dreadnought sarcophogi are any fairer, at least chaos marines don't depend on machines to keep them alive. (Just blessings, corruption, and general 'evil'...)

bjorn remains in extasis until needed, so dreadnought+extasis= cheating XD
