    To Build a Planet!

Hi there fluff masters and fluff makers.

We all clearly love to create new Armies, Characters, and Equipment to be utilised in the "40K Universe" but let's not forget where all these things come from!

This thread is your chance to tell us all you want to about the Planet you dreamed up to have your Army, Character, or Equipment hail from.

My post will be about the planet Pre'em, where my IG Regiment comes from.

P.s. I know how easy it is to rant on about your fluff, so to keep posts from being too long(or illegible) put the "Worlds of the Imperium" Imperial Classification, the Tithe Grade (if an Imperial World), the Population, and any Points of Interest you've constructed (no more than 3 paragraphs please).

    Imperial Classifications:
    Eta-class (Hive World)
    Gamma-class (Civilised World)
    Alpha-class (Agri World)
    Phi Gamma-class (Feral World)
    Delta-class (Dead World)
    Delta Tau-class (Death World)
    Rho-class (Research Station)
    Mu-class (Feudal World)
    Phi-class (Forge World)

Edit-By tithe grade i mean just what the tithe is, as I don't know the Imperial terminology!

    Pre'em

    Imperial Classification: Gamma-class (Civilised World)

    Population: 80,000,000

Tithe Grade: Psykers (Astropaths, Librarians, Sanctioned Psykers, and fuel for the Emperor)

Points of Interest: The majority of Pre'ems population have soom degree of psychic potential and reside in the lower tier of it's capital city, Neur'em. This city is split in two and the Lower tier is a hive slum that spans across most of the southern continent. This slum is run by biker "Faction Lords", who act as approachable political figures to the populace. The Upper tier however is a Gothic Majesty the like rarely seen on the Eastern Fringe. It is home to many Imperial Offices such as, the Inquisitorial Fortress, the Ecclesiarchal Monastry, and the Planetary Librarium, as well as housing the planets largest defence guns.

There are only two continents on Pre'em the northernmost of which is ill suited for population, due to it's small size and the small Kroot nest that is allowed to exist there. This nest is used as a proving ground for IG Recruitment and is frequented by the Pirates that roam the "Basal Sea". The Pirates are descendants of the Non-Psychic outcasts exiled by the masses a millenia ago. They're known to travel often to the north by choice, to seek to challenge themselves against the feral xenos in efforts to prove themselves worthy of Imperial Service!

The Planets main resources are the people who live there, life in the unforgiving slums of Pre'em forges hardy warriors, skilled at riding and often psychically atuned. The pirates of the vast Basal Sea too are powerful and merciless warriors intent on making their name Honourable in the eyes of their homeworld.

There you have it the template is set!

    System Name: A'ava
    Status: Xeno World
    Dominant Race: Tau
    Affiliation: Farsight Enclave.
Imperial Classification: Gamma Class Civilized World w/ High Agricultural Output
    Population-
    Fire Caste: 1,440,543,000
    Earth Caste: 853,966,000
    Water Caste: 546,000,000
    Air Caste: 607,780,000
    Kroot: 140,000
    Eldar: ?22,000?

    Points of Interest:

A Farsight Enclave, while the main life supporting planet A'ava is not as industrialized the surrounding system is heavily mined by drone facilities. Amongst these facilities are the floating drone factories orbiting the system's gas giants and their moons, harvesting and constructing completely in space. This has led to a high number of the Devilfish Chasis, and more importantly a much larger fleet compared to other systems of similar type.

An Eldar rouge fleet, under the guide of a wandering Farseer attacked the Tau here, in anticipation of a great evil coming from the planet. The vision appeared to be false, instead depicting the events if the Eldar attacked. The Eldar were beaten back, and a great deal of their forces and ships were captured before they could escape, sealed off from the Webway and not daring to risk another trip through the Warp. These Eldar have been 'integrated' into the Enclave society, under heavy guard and constant watch to be used as hostages should another Eldar force arrived, or on the off-chance they may agree to share their secrets with the Tau.

One of the most liberal of any Tau system, this Enclave's fire caste have a high respect for tank commanders and their skills. Rather than force a Shas to don a Battlesuit for advancement as is usually the case, it is becoming more regular for a tank commander to be promoted to positions of power. The most spectacular of these is Shas'O Y'aes, a female tank commander who along with the infamous Shas'El Mont'Ein was instrumental in defeating the Eldar ground forces.

    Tau of Note:
    Shas'O Y'aes
    Shas'El Mont'Ein
    Shas'Ui Mont'yryon
    Kor'O San'Sa

I hate to say it.. But that sounds really big for a Farsight enclave.. I mean come on.. A few forward strike forces produce a couple of billion Tau in 300 years? Is it the planet of the aphrodisiacs..

I've made up a good few planets, mostly for Inquisitor..

    Tarsus
    Status: Scholae Progenium Training Facility
Population: Depends on your definition of human.. About 80,000 untainted.
    Tithe Status: None

Tarsus is a radioactive frozen wasteland bathed in constant ion lightning. The inhabitants, together with the planets native life forms, therefore live underground in bunker complexes and cave systems.. Thousands of years ago, an attempt was made to colonize the supposedly uninhabitable planet, but the radioactive environment has gradually devolved most of the population into semi-human mutants which.. while cunning.. are ferocious and often cannibalistic.

The few purestrain humans who inhabit this place live in sealed bunker systems shielded from the radiation, the largest of these being a scholae progenium academy. The graduates produced here train in one of the harshest environments imaginable, and test their skill in frequent 'twist hunts'. Through this, they learn that mercy and pity, even for members of their own species, can have fatal consequences, and are abley prepared for their role as stormtroopers, commisars and members of the adpeta sororitas.

Tarsus maintains strong ties to the Inquisition, who often appreciate the cold mindedness and ruthlessness of its graduates.

Not a few forward strike forces, a large scale recolonization fleet. Just because he abandoned the recolonization mission, doesn't mean the recolonization fleet abandoned him. After all, I'd follow a crusade against the orks led by a radical commander, when the other option is try to set up a colony in an Ork prone area with little/no military support. Besides, that's not all on the planet, that's scattered throughout the A'ava system. Though if you really think this isn't feasible, I'll bump it down some.

And why not jump up that much in three-hundred years? Our population has. In fact, our population has done that two times over, and we don't exercise breeding control regulations on a world-scale.

Anyway, your world seems rather good. But I have a question though... When you say has strong ties to the Inquisition, do you mean that there is an Inquisitorial Fortress there or just that the Black Ships come sailing by fairly regularly?

From a fairly detailed campaign I have been playing.

    Planet Name: Cardus [Lotho Sub-Sector]

    Status: Imperial World [Contested]

    Imperial Classification: Phi-class Forge World

    Population- 20,000,000,000 Imperial Citizens.
[Unknown number of enemy combatants, mutants, and assorted malcontents. In excess of 100,000,000].

Tithe Grade: Heavy Machinery, Technology, Munitions [Suspended]

Points of Interest. [Inquisitorial Report XXV459VVZ-Clearance Level Alpha-Red]

Cardus is probably the most important planet in the Lotho subsector with the possible exception of the Hive World Cadaras. As well as boasting an impressive production output even for a Forge world of this size, Cardus also has a range of orbital docks, shipyards and workshops responsible for supplying, repairing and building Imperial vessels. Of particular note is the fact that it still possesses the design specifications and technical readouts necessary to produce Mars class battle cruisers. A practice that has been discontinued at Mars itself.

Although officially liberated in 3332007/M42 Cardus is a world at war. Cardus has been at the heart of the Lotho campaign since its outbreak over four years ago. Traitor forces initially conducted a co-ordinated attack utilising the Rebel PDF units from other planets in the sub-sector, assorted Pirate and Traitor space vessels and most worrying forces from the traitor legions. Reports on exact numbers are scant but a conservative estimate concludes that at least two hundred Chaos Space Marines [Legion Designations classified Inquisitorial Clearance Omega-Blue required] are present on the planet's surface.
Fortunatly a counter-strike engineered by Captain Helmar Gothic of the Crimson Fist Chapter of Space Marines, utilising not just Astartes forces but the Imperial Fleet and loyal Tech Guard units, has recently driven the enemy forces back to a few last strongholds.

Planet Name: Ariel [Ariel Sector, Segmentum Obscurus]
Classification: Adeptus Astartes homeworld [Angels of the Lion]
    Population: 3,000,000,000
    Tithe: Adeptus Non
Points of Interest: Angels of the Lion chapter monastery, planetary defense stations, Sebastio

Homeworld of the Angels of the Lion chapter of the Adeptus Astartes, Ariel is a world kept in a feudal states by its masters. Covering the large continents of Ariel are kingdoms of varying sizes and differing customs. These kingdoms are constantly at war with each other to produce the best of recruits for the Chapter. A smaller continent, exclusively mountainous, houses the Chapter Monastery in the tallest and most remote peaks. On this continent dwell the infamous Lions of Ariel-great beasts that rival the wolves of Fenris in size and ferocity. It is common practice in the chapter for initiates to traverse the mountain passes and find their way back to the Monastery. Those that return are immediately inducted into the chapter and those who manage to kill one of the Lions are marked for much success in their career. Two islands artifically placed at opposite ends of the planet form the primary defensive stations for Ariel. Protected by heavy armor and Void Shields, loaded with missile silos, lance batteries, all manner of weaponry, these stations ensure nothing hostile reaches the planet's surface. Due to the massive oceans covering Ariel (over 70% of the planet is covered in liquid water) the Angels of the Lion maintain seaworthy forces and many kingdoms have great navies of their own.

Orbiting the planet is its only moon, Sebastio. Sebastio has been mined extensively and converted into a massive space station, the equivalent of a Ramile Class Starfort. The surface is covered with weapon emplacements, void shield generators, and launch bays. Inside the moon are great factories producing and maintaining the chapter's fleet. Sebastio is considered the chapter's secondary fortress monastery, it is complete with training, command, and lodging facilities capable of accomodating the entire chapter.

    Kastafor

    Imperial Classification: Gamma-class (Civilized World)

Population: >7,281,000,000. Former population 28 billion.

Tithe Grade: Exactus Particualr, Partly Suspended

Present Tithes: Imperial Guard regiments, pharmaceuticals, power swords.

    Points of Interest:
Kastafor is a world of ruins. This once thriving hive world has been laid waste by a bitter war which saw three out of every four citizens killed. This war has redefined everything about the planet and made its citizens a valuable source of Imperial Guard Recruits. Of particualr note is the Pryde Smith Clan who were instrumental in successfully defeating the forces of the ruinous powers, and who following the war have made Kastafor a leading producer of Power Swords.

Before the ‘War for Kastafor’ the planets tithes consisted exclusively of Standard Template power cells. This produced a sea of toxic sludge which covered the whole planet. This sea was largely filled in by the ruins of the hive towers which were destroyed at the beginning of the war and has been further refined by a vast jungle of plant like fungus which is spreading over the surface of the planet. Due to these two factors there now exist navigable bodies of water which are already plied by a small but thriving shipping industry.

The work rebuilding the planet has gone much faster than initially anticipated with an extremely loyal and dedicated populous working very hard to reestablish Kastafor as a productive Imperial world. Two new hives of a more standard structure have been built to support a vast orbital ring which now holds the majority of the planets population and industry. This band is truly magnificent to behold, though by no means a unique structure.

    Teceo-Secundus

    System: Teceo
    Segment: Ultima Segmentum
    Government: Imperial
    Population: 14.000.000.000
    Tithe: Imperial Guard Conscripts

    Description:
The hive world of Teceo-Secundus is located in the inner rim of Ultima Segmentum. It is the second of nine planets in the Teceo System. Its nearest neighbour Teceo-Primus is also a hive world. Teceo-Secundus was colonised approximately 13,000 years ago. It was a very warm planet and quickly became a civilised world with much industry managed by several families or Houses, as they were known. The government of Teceo-Secundus was run by a senate represented by each of the major Houses However, the growing progress soon led to its demise as the pollution filled the atmosphere with toxic gasses rendering the planet inhospitable. Hive cities were constructed and living conditions became terrible. Industry, however, continued and massive factories specked the desolate plains. Then, about 1,500 years ago, a politic conflict sprung up between the two most powerful Houses, House D'Alonzo and House Teelbach. The conflict soon developed into open war, which lasted for over twenty years. In this time three hive cities had been left in ruins and millions of people were dead or homeless. Thousands of refugees from the ruined cities fled to the remaining cities and this worsened living conditions.
The House War, as it is known, had not gone unnoticed and soon the Imperium was involved. The victorious of the two Houses, House Teelbach, had taken complete control of Teceo-Secundus after the war and closed the Senate. This resulted in the arrival of several legions of Imperial forces commanded by Admiral-Commissar Bittro. They fought House Teelbach and took control of the planet and Teceo-Secundus has been a strict Imperial military dictatorship ever since.
The Houses, now without control of the industry, now act as independent businesses - which are not always legal - and work in the underground of the hive cities.

Someone just gave me negative rep because my planet is 'just like Necromundia'. First of all, it's called 'Necromunda' and second of all, apart from being a Hive World, what else is like Necromunda?

It really ticks me off when people complain and give negative rep without cause.

Whoever gave me neg-rep, please elaborate!
