Part 3 of my fluff
The Terminators of the Soul Eaters are chosen from the veterans of the Chapter by the Chief Librarian, Chief Chaplain and Chapter Master. They must suffer through the Chief Librarian's psychic assaults, the Chief Chaplain's torturous ceremonies and the Chapter Master's tasks. At least one task of the Chapter Master's must be completed to earn their place within the Chapter's most privileged members. The first task is to kill a Fire Dragon, which lives deep within the caves which form a endless labyrinth under the Varrius. They must bring back the hide and a tooth of the dragon they killed as proof that they fulfilled this task. The second task, which they may choose to do, is to lay upon a bed of hot metal for 3 hours without flinching after first laying down. This involves servitors continuously heating the metal sheet with furnaces of great flames. The third task that they can finish is to go on a lone mission to kill as much as 50 Eldar without being captured or killed. The Chief Librarian's psychic assaults include resisting the taint of Chaos and the power of the flaming shadow of the Fire Dragon along with other painful psychic tests. The Chief Chaplain's ceremonies are deadly and painful. The ceremonies are said to include the Donning of the Sacred Armour of the Terminators by the Artificers of the Chapter, The Painting of the Armour and The Great Naming of The Weapons and Armour of the new Elite of the Chapter. After all these ceremonies and tests then and only then may the Space Marine rejoin the Chapter as an elite battle brother.
Dreadnought Igneus Aequitas
Igneus Aequitas was a champion of the Soul Eaters. He fought during the Third Battle for Armageddon and Medusa I. During the Campaign on Medusa I, he was ambushed along with his force commander’s squad. The five Seer Council members had snuck up behind the command squad and cast a hail of spells and splinter pistol shots into the unsuspecting squad tearing them apart. Igneus survived this onslaught and the Farseer stepped over his now crippled body preparing to finish its kill. Igneus slowly lifted his hammer and struck the Farseer in a shower of sparks. The Farseer fell onto Igneus. He heard bolter shots ringing in the distance as a squad under command of his former commander came to help the now non-existent squad. The other Farseer fell under an ocean of exploding shells. An Apothecary came up to recover the Chapter’s precious geneseed from Igneus but saw his crippled body was still heaving from struggled breaths. The Apothecary asked whether Igneus wished to receive the Emperor’s Peace and Igneus slowly whispered through blood choked words, ‘No Brother Apothecary Silens Otium, I wish to serve the Emperor till He wakens from the Golden Throne”, The Apothecary called the Battle Cruiser orbiting the planet and demanded a Transport be sent down to collect the body of the willing aspirant to be transferred up to be placed in the casket of a legendary Dreadnought. His wish was obeyed and he received the metal casing made of Adamantium. His soul is joined with the machine body and he uses this instead of his crippled flesh one. His armament on his steel coffin is normally a giant sized thunder hammer and a blessed assault cannon that has taken many Xeno’s lives. His thunder hammer is called Deathbringer by his fellow flesh Brothers of Battle. His wrath against the Eldar is deadly; he will take to the battles on any planet so that he may receive vengeance on his body being damaged so critically by their ancestors. His coffin is known to have its weapons changed by Techmarines. So he may decide upon how he will smite the foe that the Company is facing. This armament may include his special configuration of twin linked heavy flamers. This choice of weapons is named the Hellgiver or Burning Hate by the Techmarines of the Chapter. He carries the battle standard from Medusa I as a commitment to fulfil his wish to serve the Emperor for the eternity of his extend life.
Tactical Squads Incendium and Ignatius were trained together through their apprenticeship to become fully-fledged members of the Soul Eaters Chapter. The marines have fought together through many a battle. The battles include the siege on Accratran and Medusa I. The marines fight together in fluid tactical motions covering the other squad as the move to their new position. The squads back up one another to get near enough to the enemy to unleash their burning hatred through plasma and bolter shot and flaming promethium. The squads at as the Adeptus Arbites would while raiding a building. The squads use lightning strikes of speed and agility to reach their foe. The have specialised grenades that unleashed billows of gas that knocks out their foe and ones that smoke pours out of creating cover for the squads to move under. These grenades are made exclusively for the Adeptus Arbites and the Soul Eaters. The grenades help in capturing any civilians that has knowledge on the whereabouts of the Eldar. The Marines only receive these grenades upon becoming full marines. Marine Squad Laedo is a secretive squad that consists of five marines that conduct raids and are never seen by their foe. These marines may be hired out to leaders around the systems to carry out raids upon criminals or prisons to check for drugs or black market items. The price for their service is never spoken aloud in public and few know they even exist. The Inquisition does not even know of this squad. The marines of this squad paint their armour fully black so they may blend into shadows and the night sky. The weapons they use are always silenced so the shots let off will not be heard. The bullets of the squad have reached many a rival of a politician and many criminals as well. Each marine of the squad is specialised in a method of battle. The squad has a sniper, plasma gunner and other marines trained in specialisation normally kept for veterans of the Chapter. The sniper’s bullets fly over 2000 yards to hit only the eyes of the foe. This is considered a mark for the Adeptus Arbites to keep their investigators out of the matter. The marines are also known to strike Eldar ships and kill only leaders of the Eldar to destroy the foe’s morale and discourage them from coming near the system again.
The new recruits of the Dragon Hawks are only inducted from Varrius, as the Chapter prefers the people of this world, as these are the folk they protect. The population of the world give the Chapter there first born child. The recruits are sent to the moon orbiting the world to be trained by the Veterans and Techmarines of the Chapter. The scouts learn to make armour and weapons. The weapons they make are for them and their fellow novices to use in battle. They also forge their own carapace armour to wear as protection against the splinters of the Eldar’s weapons. The scouts have to have done three things to gain the black carapace and rites to join their fellow Space Marines. The first is to survive at least ten battles as scouts. The second is to forge their own combat weapon that they will carry throughout their life in the Chapter as they progress through the ranks this weapon may be taken by the Techmarines and servitors to be sheathed in a field of lightning. To have this done is a great honour and it marks them out as a future chosen one to gain the Crux Terminatus. The novice’s third task is to find a plant, which is native only to Varrius’s mountain forests, and bring a cutting of it to a Chapter Chaplain. Once they complete all these tasks, and withstand the psychic testing of the Librarian’s to see if they have psychic powers or are tainted by Chaos. Then the servitors undergo the task of melding the black carapace to the scout’s body. Once then is complete the former scout’s can have his power armour presented to him. Then the marine will be assigned to a squad either new or old. If a new squad is formed, a veteran will come to lead the squad until one of the new marines has enough experience to replace him as leader. When this happens the marines self forged weapon will be encased in a power field by servitors.
"to kill as much as 50 Eldar without being captured or killed."
Way to big of a number. In fluff terms most Eldar strike forces number less than that. They are a dying race so to kill, much less find more than 10 would be a very good accomplishment. Even considering that they raid the planet constantly. Another thing is to remember how compentent the Eldar are at battle. They are centuries old and most are even better fighters than space marines.
"The five Seer Council members had snuck up behind the command squad and cast a hail of spells and splinter pistol shots into the unsuspecting squad tearing them apart."
Third war for Arrmeggeddon was against Orks. Yes there might have been a few Eldar lurking around here and there but it was against orks. Make Orks the ambushers.
"Marine Squad Laedo is a secretive squad that consists of five marines that conduct raids and are never seen by their foe. Marines aren't hired out. They are requested by commanders for aid. They do not recieve pay for missions. Ever. They could be a squad that is used in EXTREME situations where the arbites and the Inquistion aren't enough to root out a cell of chaos. But it would have to be a very EXTREME case. If they could be hired out. The Inquistion would know about it. Nothing hides from the Inquistion. Sorry but the hiring thing would NEVER happen. Marines are made to serve the Emperor. Not as super-duper mercenaries.
Edit: Not trying to sound to harsh here. Sorry if I come across that way.
<(^^)> <(^^<) (>^^)> ^(^^)^ Dance Kirby! Dance!
Squad Laedro probably would leave their shoulderpad (or codpiece?) the Chapter colors, so as not to offend the war spirit of the armor (read: universal superstition).
Also, as a devil's advocate for the squad, might I suggest they are a sort of appeasement to folks who have learned of the Chapter's practice of using xeno-tech? Hired help to keep the lips sealed, you know? Marines would be loath to stoop to bribery, but favors make the Imperium go round, and desparate times call for desparate measures- a Chapter on the run can afford a few transgressions for their survival. They could also act as a silencer for those who would broadcast the Chapter's secrets...
That's all I've got. Sorry if it looks like I'm writing your fluff for you, I'm just trying to help.
