I have a question about the Eldar pirates. First I do not have a codex for the eldar so if this is someting i can have answered by that just say so. But I am giving alot of consideration to starting an Eldar pirate army that relies heavily on wraithlords with the whole army tooled towards city fight because that is what i enjoy playing. Im thinkin of a leader for this pirate force who was involved with the craftworld altansar or lugganath I ahvent decided on a paint scheme yet so im pretty open to suggestions. anyways any help in getting my eldar off the group would be greatly appreciated
Pirates relying on Wraithlords?
You may want to rethink your idea a little bit....
If anything, pirates would be relying on Guardians, Jetbikes, Vypers, and other mobile things, as well as some Aspect Warrior stand-ins (exceptionally skilled pirates).
I wouldn't expect to see pirates with many Wraithlords... they're rare enough in actual Craftworld armies.
That said, there IS a pirate HQ in the Eldar codex. Prince Yriel of Iyanden... look for fluff on him. While his Craftworld focuses on Wraith stuff, I don't think his actual corsairs do.
yeah after going around the internet and searching through what fluff i could find without the codex i do have to adjust my idea alittle bit it seems so no wraithlords with this i will order an eldar codex on saturday and go from their. I was thinking that the pirate eldar would allow for alot of conversion oppurtunities which is kind of the direction i want to handle with the modeling aspect of the army I just havent totally figured out how I would model "pirate" Eldar any suggestions there?
You could always create your own model representing a wraithguard. Pehaps a giant hover platform of some kind. Pehaps based off a Talos or similar model. Blades/ram/ECC gun sort of device on the front so that CC becomes feastible.
It's a nice idea, although as said wraithbone technology is an unlikely thing to find in a pirate warband. Modelwise, have a look at the Kill-Team section of the BGB, they have some very nice pirate conversions in a kill team there, based off guardians and Empire plastics with little bits of greenstuff here and there.
