This is a battle I played against this Nid player at my game store. We both decided that point value WAS NOT A FACTOR!! Im just going to say that so no one says it was uneven points in posts. My list was this as followed.
HQ- Leman Russ Demolisher
ACE's- x2 Destroyer Tank Hunter
TROOPS- x6 Leman Russ Battle Tanks
His army consisted about:
HQ- Hive Tyrant with some sort of venom cannon
in squad of x4 tyrant guard
ELITE: x3 Tyranid Warriors
TROOPS: X100 Genestealers (he had them in two squads of 50)
HEAVY: x2 Carnifex
SETUP: It was a crater filled battlefield with some ruins in the center. On one table edge was the outskirts of a ruin city, the other some large hills. Tanks set up in the hills with the nids on the city outskirts. We did this for fluff reasons, as u will see below:
Captain Rommel of the 43'rd Steel Legion Armoured Battalion gazed silently at the plumes of smoke rising to form a blanked over the ruins of the city on Pavious II. They had been dispatched to help eradicate the invasion and the imperial forces were barely holding. He and his mens job was to hold this flank until infantry support came to help them. He didnt have much with only 9 tanks at his command. A shout of "sir" broiught him to the parapet of his command tank, the Demolisher "Deaths Servant". Grabbing the monoculers he gasped at the sight that filled his vision. The nids were moving from the city, in numbers much greater then he had anticipated. On the left flank strode the tyrant and his guard with a company of warriors, their screeches filling the air. In the center and right flank was made up entirely by a giant swarm of genestealers. And among among them strode two giant carnifex's. Looking over his battle line of tanks he whispered silentley so no one could here "emperor be with us this day."
TURN 1: With a horrifying screech the swarm surged forward seeking human blood. Just out of range of its cannon the tyrant moved forward with his brood. "Fire!!," bellowed rommel into his vox. 6 loud reports of battle cannons opening fire consumed all other noise, through the smoke of the guns he saw four shots blossom among the genestealers cutting them down like wheat (i killed 22). The other two shots landed just in front of the second brood of genestealers. Rommel cursed, the flank was not going to hold if they didnt make their marks. Suddenly to more loud reports annonced the tank destroyers firing. And with an astounished gasp he saw both score hits on the middle carnifex. It bellowed in pain and stumbled forward. (I rolled pretty well this turn, to bad u need a 1+ armour peicing to kill a carnifex outright.)
TURN 2: The swarm surged forward again closing the distance with scary rapidness. In range the Tyrant opened fire...a searing bolt of venopm struck the demolisher head on but failed to anything but shake the gunner, two warriors fired as well but only one hit and didnt do any damage at all. The tanks opened fire again with dissapointing accuracy as only 2 out of 6 foudn their targets, the rest sailing wide or falling short of them. Two rounds stuck the already weakened brood killing 8 more, but they still kept coming. The destroyers shot again and the wounded carnifex and again wonded it twice!! It roared in pain, nearly dead.
TURN 3: The nids moved even closer to the tanks, almost within charging distance. The warriors and tyrant fired again shredding the treads on the farthest right leman russ. The tanks fired again and this time all found their marks "i rolled 5 targets and 1 scatter that only went 1 inch). The weakened genestealer brood was all but annighalated in the fire storm leaving only 3 alive. They turned tail and fled. The Deaths Servant turned its lascannon on the wounded carnifex but Rommel cursed as the shot glanced off its armoured hide. One of the Destoyers fixed that, its weapon smashing a hole in the Carnifex's chest killing it instantly. The other turned its attention on the other and fired and scored yet another hit and wound!! ( I was rolling great with them, to my opponents discomfort.)
TURN 4: The swarm moved forward just out of charging range. Finally relizing the threat of my tank hunters the warriors and Tyrant opened fire on it and to Rommels dismay gutted the vehicle from front to end, the explosion sending shrapnel flying in every direction. Rommel saw that the right flank was about to be met by over 50 genestealers and a carnifex. He ordered all tanks to fire and prayed his shots would find his mark. His prayers were answered. With a roar of explosions the front most ranks of the swarm were cut down, all 6 shells killing at least 1 genestealer (i killed 27 overall) with the demolisher cannon adding to the salvo. The genestealers fearing another barrage stayed pinned down unless be caught in the open. The carnifex roared a challenege and charged forward the tank destroyer missing its mark.
TURN 5: The carnifex surged forwardface to face with one of the leman russes. Before a shot could be fired the claws tore off the turret and ripped the vehicle in half in vengance. The explosion that follwed made it so it just came up short as it moved to the farthest right Leman Russ. With a roar the tanks answered 4 this time targetting the tyranid warriors and tyrant and his guard. The tyrant responded shredding a second leman russ' treads. All the warriors died as shrapel and shells tore their bodies apart. One tyrant guard fell thrashiong to the ground. The demolisher fired at the genestealers the shell landing just off the the right but still killing two. Thinking the threat over the genestealers began to rise ready to charge. The Leman russ on the far right new it was dead. Seeing no other option it roared forward plowing into the genestealer swarm. The nids tried to break and run but were to late as the treads roared over 5 of them crushing them to pulp. The genestealers held their ground begining to swarm over the tank. Unable to fire the destroyer moved to get a better shot at the carnifex.
TURN 6: cheated of its prize the carnifex turned and ran forward into the other leman russ. The tyranid tyrant fired again at the wounded leman russ melting the barrel of the battle cannon. The genestealers swarmed over the leman russ in their midst shredding it apart, the explosion howver caused shrapnel to sycthe through them killing 6. Unable to stand up to their losses the genestealers broke and began to run. The Carnifex made short work of the other leman russ, ripping it apart but shrapnel causing 1 wound and it fell short of the demolisher. Rommel snarled and fired the demolisher cannon straight at it, the shell tearing a chunk off its back leaving it with 2 wounds. The tank hunter fired and wounded it again. The remaing leman russes fired and killed all the remaing tyrant guard leaving a wounded Tyrant screaming nagirly. The genestealers turned around realizing there was no pursuit. The demolisher roared forward and smashed into the carnifex. Rommel felt the tank shudder at the collishion then heard a large squelching noise as the carnifex fell beneath its treads. The other great threat was over. His cannons barrel turned on the remaing genestealers.
Realizing the battle was over the tyrant screamed at his remaing genestealers and began to run back to the city, vanishing into the ruins. Rommel sighed with relief and viewd his losses, four tanks destroyed and three imobile. But they were alive. Behind him the dust and Smoke of the approaching infantry convoy signaled vicotry. They had held.
Overall a fun battle. My oppenent was a little overconfident that i wouldnt roll as many on targets as i did, and that he would destroy me. But my tank hunters did abnormally well and destroyed one of his carnifexs' before it reached my line. He made the mistake targetting my demolisher early on. I know alot of people may think that i had the unfair advantage...just so everyone knows he set up the board!! Tell me what you think.
Good report, glad to see that you out against so many genestealers. If you guys agreed that points dont matter then I'm not going to complain. So did you tank shock a carnifex and it made a failed death or glory? If you did then good one you, that would be some bragging rights there man.
Good work on beating the 'nid menace with good old fashioned tankery! A great effort.
I do think you had a couple of things working in your favour though - or maybe I just have bad luck against Tyranids. Out of interest, what was the points difference?
The Genestealers failing the morale checks seemed odd - they never do when I play against them.
What sized board were you playing on? it seemed to take your opponent a long time to get to grips with your forces! Also his stealers must have been out of synapse range...
He also made a mistake in not taking much in the way of armour beating - which could be seen as a flaw in a 'nid army facing an Armoured Company! did the two Carnifex not have Venom Cannons? Bio Acid Spore mines would have been a huge boon to him as well - these come to mind straight away and I don't even play as Tyranids! Relying on rending attacks to penetrate armour is always a bit of a blunder in my opinion.
Still at the end of the day you won a good victory in an unusual battle and that deserves credit.
LOL! Rommel, now that's stylish thinking for the tank commander's name... Was your armoured company a regiment of the Afrika Korps too? lol
Well, excellent report soldier, you serve the Imperium and the God-Emperor well by pushing back the ravenous swarm of death and chitin. Well done!
What do Khorne Berzerkers say to Necrons after chopping some of their bits off? "BLOOD FOR... Eh? Come on! You just take the fun out of it... Scream! Yell! Awww... not even a trace of guts..." *sniffles and kicks dirt*
"You can go far with a smile. You can go even further with a smile and a gun"
"Seeing no other option it roared forward plowing into the genestealer swarm. The nids tried to break and run but were to late as the treads roared over 5 of them crushing them to pulp."
How did you do that? Tank Shock just makes them move out off the way, the only way you can kill any of them is if one fails a Death and Glory.

If memory serves some of the armoured company doctrines allow you to crush enemy infantry... don't quote me on that though as my mind is a bit like a disorganised curiosity shop!
Great Report, Great Fluff, I'll be looking for more of your battle reports when Apoclopse comes out. Remeber that theres 10 IG tanks in one box. By the way are you intresested in an exterminator tank for 40 bucks????
Well im glad to hear that you all liked it. Sorry it took me so long to get back!!! I dont really now the point difference of the game as well...i have no idea about anything against nids. The crushing the genestealers thing The carnifex DID fail its death and glory as well as the genestealers (i was surprised myself.) And yes i do remember the table being really long...the guy said "i want to give u a chance" he was way cocky! I hope that ansers some of your questions and i love the idea of apocolypse...but i dont have any money for it!! i like my army the way it is anyways. Thanks for the comments hope for another battle soon...i think its going to be a tau armoured company!!! stay tuned:drinking:
"The good thing about being tank commander is that if u have alot of enemies....you can take them all out with one shot"
~Captain Rommel 43rd Steel Legion
im not the most experienced player but i think that if troops fail tank shock and they dont have any room 2 run away 2 then they are considered dead
good report fun 2 read and im glad u won... i hate cocky players

"Congratulations on your victory captain, you may not have known, but you intecepted that swarm from reaching a lightly defended interest of the Adeptus Mechanicus, and for that unknowing work we commend you, we have put your name forth to recieve the Banner of the Mechanicus.
Again, good work."
Great work, i always like to see (or read in this case) the imperium's big guns in action!
Can't wait till Apocalypse
