4'x4' table with lots of terrain. ftp map image. Three hills split the middle of the table and the Ultra Marine 'bunker' was an ancient stone farm house on the centre hill. NE of the house, just inside the Second Line was a grain silo with a view of the whole board. Tank traps and snare wire were placed between each hill. The Dark Eldar deployed in the heavy forest to the West.
The Commander's small force was out of position, hours behind the battallion, and struggling to catch up when his scouts reported Kabal Raiders in the west woods closing fast. Surveying the farm around him the Commander quickly deployed the razor wire stored on the Razorback while the Tac squad lined up farm machinery as makeshift tank traps.
The Ultra Marine Commander deployed his Command Squad in the farm house, commanding the centre of the field. The Devestators flanked him on the North hill and the Razorkback went hulldown behind the South hill with it's TAC squad deployed on the hill itself.
The Kabal's Dracon decided to overload the N flank and hordes of Warriors, Wytches and War Machines (oh my) deployed from the NW corner of the forest.
Once the Ultra Marines deployment was revealed the Dracon praised his good fortune and charged 24" into assault range of the Devestator squad. The Wytches flew up beside him, hull down on the N side of the hill, preparing to assault the farm house next turn. The Talos lumberd to the edge of the forest, beginning it's long slow crawl towards the Second Line behind the grain silo. The Large Foot Troop lead by the Sybarite fleet of footed directly at the 'bunker' and the Sniper Squad used fleet of foot to set up at the forest edge, out of range of the bunker marine's bolters.
The Talos fired wildy into the Devestator squad hitting three and wounding one, who's armor saved him. The Dracon also failed to wound anyone in CC but he had successfully engaged the entire squad, leaving the Talos uncontested on the field.
Seeing his north flank being rolled up the Commander calls in his Dreadnaught and Scout reserves from the NE, ordering the Scouts to climb the Silo and the Dreadnaught to engage at will.
Meanwhile his command squad mowed down 4 of the Sybarite's Troops who were closing with Blasters. Unfortunately the Devestator Squad was unable to breach the Dracon's Shadowfield. The Dreadnaught subjected the Wytch Raider to massive fire from it's assault cannon but failed to hit anything vital.
The TAC squad showed some initiative and piled into thier Razokback to move closer to the action.
The Talos advances from the woods.
The Wytch Raider flies over the hill, past the Devestators and unloads the Wytches in assault range of the Bunker.
The Sniper Squad prepares to coordinate an attack with the Sybarite's Blaster troops (who have closed to assault range with the bunker) to open up the farm house to the Wytches assault.
Although the ancient stone farmhouse was badly damaged it held, leaving the Wytches in the open without an opponent in assault range.
The Dracon missed his attackes on the Devestators but continued to keep them from firing on the advancing Talos.
The scouts had almost climbed the silo and would reach the top next turn.
The Dreadnaught continued to advance hoping to get in assault range of the Dracon.
The Razorback moved N 6" and fired and the Wytches while its TAC squad dismounted, guns blazing killing 3 Wytches.
The Commander knew the Sniper Squad and Blaster Troopers would destroy his bunker before he could kill them all so he gave the order to gun down the vulnerable Wytches. It was like shooting fish in a barrel, no Wytches survived.
The Talos advanced towards the Dreadnaught.
The Sybarite lead his Troopers W behind the bunker hill out of los from the Razorkback and TAC squad, hoping the Sniper Squad would collapse the bunker. Which they do, crushing 4 marines, three of which were saved by thier power armor.
The Sybarite prepared to sieze the glory of capturing the enemy Commander. - "Charge my minions! (CRACK!, Yes, you!, ATTACK!". Coordinating with the Wytch Raider they shot to death 3 of the enemy command squad and in the followup assault they killed the Apothacary and Standard bearer, leaving the Commander and his Veteran Sgt who mounted a fierce counter attack, killing 3 troopers and forcing the rest to retreat.
The Dracon finally managed to kill a Devestator.
The Commander and Vet Sgt. assault the fleeing Sybarite's Troops killing one and forcing them to continue retreating.
The Scouts finally reached the top of the silo and deployed snipers and the heavy bolter.
The Dreadnaught moved up onto the hill and opened fire on the Talos, inflicting a wound but failing to hit the Dracon in the following assault.
The Razorback's LasConnon kills one of the sniper squad and it's TAC squad open fire on the retreating Sybarite's troops killing a Blaster and a Splinter Cannon trooper, seriously depleating her troop's firepower (if they ever stopped fleeing).
The Devestator Squad lost another member in CC with the Kabal's leader.
The Talos finally assaulted the Devestator squad firing ineffectually on the scouts as it closed. The Raider repositioned itself and also fired a weak Disintigrator blast at the marine scouts to no effect.
The Sybarites troops took another three casualties and were finally overtaken while fleeing, wiped out by the Imperium's latest heroes in training.
The Sniper Squad picked off a scout on the Silo and the Dracon killed two more Devestators in CC. With only 2 squad members remainig the Talos assaults hoping to make a sweeping advance into the Dreadnaught but only manages to kill one.
The TAC squad moved east into a firing lane waiting for the Dracon to leave CC.
The Scouts returned fire on the Sniper Squad, and thier crack sniper team kills one, pinning the unit.
The Dracon fends off CC attacks from botht he remaining Devestator and the Dreadnaught while the HQ stopped moving to take aim at the Raider. Together with the Razorback they manage to destroy the Raider's disintegrator.
The Kabal forces were looking a little ragged, the Sybarite's troops wiped out, the Sniper squad almost at 50% casualties and the Wytches were nothing but corpses. With only 6 models on the table it looked like they might not survive. So why, thought the Commander, is that evil green ***** of a Dracon smiling?
The Dracon kills the remaining Devestator, freeing up the Talos to assault the Dreadnaught. Screaming with bloodlust and dementia the Dark Eldar War Machine unleashes a frightening display of whirling death (7 attacks) immobilizing the great Imperial Dread.
The sniper squad manafes to regroup but realizes that it is too far from the Second Line to survive and they watch stoically as thier Dracon prepares to head East, leaving them behind for the Imperial forces.
The Commander passes up the easy kills on the Sniper Squad and grabs for another chance at glory by assaulting the Talos, hoping that the TAC squad will support him. Alas they are all an inch too far away, leaving the HQ looking exposed to the walking death machine's possible counter assault.
The Scouts and Razorback continue to fire on the Sniper Squad but only succed in clearing some trees.
Mastering it's bloodlust the Talos obeys it's master and moves with the Dracon into the Second Line behind the Silo. The Talos caually fires at just about every remaining marine unit but fails to cause any damage while the Sniper Squad, with a fatalism born of life on Commorragh, keep fighting and open fire on the enemy HQ, killing the Veteran Sgt and forcing the Commander to retreat.
The TAC squad attempts a suicide charge on the Talos, hitting 4 times but failing to wound and the Razorkback sends a parting shot at the Sniper Squad, killing 1.
Seeing the Dark Eldar leader and it's tamed Death Machine fleeing passed his Second Line the Ultra Marine Commander calls for his forces to regroup and they sweep the western forest of the remaining Kabal members before returning to the business of catching up to the main column.

Hey dude, unlucky loss. Nice battle report though. ^_^
Thanks for the feedback.
The Dreadnaught was immobalized and the Commander+TAC Squad had failed to make btb contact by 1" (and therefore didn't initiate CC), so we felt it was OK for the Talos to leave with the Dracon.
But it would be nice to get a rules clarification on leaving CC with an immobilized Dreadnaught... we don't use any new rules, just the BBB.

Still, the dred is a walker and therefor has to be destroyed to leave combat. Its in the BBB.
