1500pts Chaos Space Marines vs. Loyalist Marines

This is how the battle looked after deployment, with my terminators waiting in deep strike. (Terminators may deep strike regardless if it is being used in the mission or not.)
I win the roll for first turn and decide to go first
Chaos Turn 1: I move up both troop choices, the daemon prince, and the raptors forward. The obliterator moves out from behind cover and lines up the devastator squad perched on the hill across from him.
The obliterator notices how closely packed together the devastator marines are on the rugged hill, and morphs his left arm into a plasma cannon and sends a round their way, blasting 3 of the marines into oblivion. The marines, caught completely off-guard, begin to quickly try to reorganize. However, their sudden movements were seen by the havoc squad on their right side, and the havocs take opportunity of the marines scrambling for cover and unload a long burst of autocannon fire. When the dust settles, a lone marine armed with a lascannon remains, but he holds his ground.
Space Marine Turn 1: Both Speeders are moved forward, the predator moves to the left to engage the obliterator. The lone Devastator passes “on your own.” Combined speeder and scout shooting kills half of the havocs, and the rest fail morale and flee off the table. Combined Predator and Devastator fire kills the lone Obliterator. The whirlwind is not so lucky and the vengeance missile intended for the Raptors scatters behind them.
Eager for revenge, the Speeder Pilots daringly fly their skimmers forward to engage the Havocs, and their firepower along with scout support results in four of the Traitors being killed. Under intense fire, the traitors make a break for it and flee from the battle.
The Predator crew observed the bright muzzle flash of the plasma cannon shot fired by the Obliterator and quickly lock onto him, and combined with the devastator, open fire and destroy the strange Chaos creature.
Chaos Turn 2: Dealt a serious blow by losing an obliterator and the Havoc Squad left me with little fire support. This isn’t helped as the Terminators fail to arrive this turn. I move everything forward again, this time shifting squad 1 to the left. Squad 1 bolter fire knocks out the Tornado, and Raptor shooting downs a Marine or two from the “Hunted Squad.” Eager to get into close combat, but it wasn’t meant to be: I was roughly half an inch short of charge range. Another serious blow to me
Space Marine Turn 2: The Command Squad moves to engage my left troop squad. The bikes move towards the raptors. Gunfire from the command squad and his 2nd tactical squad does little to the Chaos Marines, however the devastator, Predator, and “Hunted” tactical squad target the Daemon Prince and he goes down in a hail of bolter and lascannon fire. The whirlwind fails to inflict any damage on my squad of troops in front of him. The Typhoon pulls back and fires on the chaos marine squad which destroyed the tornado. The Bikes open fire on the raptors, killing two. At this point the Space Marine makes a serious blunder and forgets to assault the raptors with the bikers.
The Master, watched in horror as one of his speeders was pummeled by bolter fire from an approaching squad of chaos Space Marines and orders the other speeder pilot to pull back, and return fire from a safe distance. He pushes his command squad forward, engaging the Traitors with bolt pistols, but watches in distain as the Chaos Marines shrug off round after round. At this time he is contacted by the Tactical squad on the other side of the battle, reporting of a Daemon Prince accompanied by Raptors quickly closing in on their right flank. The Master orders all immediate heavy weapons to target the Daemon Prince and bring him down at all costs.
Chaos Turn 3: Finally getting a break from the Raptors not being charged, I knew I needed to capitalize on his mistake quickly if I wanted to get back into this game. This is exactly when I needed my terminators in, but unfortunately for me the terminators were taking their sweet ass time getting to the battle and so decided to not show up this turn.
I move the left squad of troops forward to double tap on the command squad, but only kill two. The Right squad moves into 12” range of the bikes and unload on them, killing two of the bikers. The Raptors move quickly to the “Hunted” tactical squad and engage their tightly packed formation with flamer, melta, and bolt pistol fire. After this they charge the helpless remnants of the tactical squad, killing all of them while losing two. I roll a 5” massacre move which is just enough to get me into close combat with the final biker, saving my raptors from getting shot.
Space Marine Turn 3: The Command Squad moves towards my left squad again, and open fire on them again, this time with help from the predator, scouts, and the 2nd tactical squad again, after the shooting the command squad charges, and all but two chaos marines are killed at the loss of one more command marine. The whirlwind finally finds its mark and kills two marines of my right Chaos Marine squad. In Assault the Raptors kill the final biker without loss and consolidate back to where the killed the tactical squad.
Chaos Turn 4: After enjoying their morning cup of coffee, the terminator squad decides to arrive to the battle. They teleport next to the predator and his remaining tactical squad. Despite taking their time, the terminators strike with vengeance, all 7 combi-plasma and combi-melta shots hit and wound, and my opponent only passes 2 cover saves, resulting in half of the squad being instantly neutralized. My “hunted” squad continues to move towards the whirlwind, barely out of melta range. The raptors move at maximum speed towards the devastator, and I choose to not shoot at him. Instead I charge him, easily killing him and consolidating into the nearby scouts, once again saving the raptors from being shot at. The space Marine Master and command squad kill the remaining marines from my 1st troop squad and consolidate towards the terminators.
As the tactical squad continued to suppress the chaos marine squad ahead of them, something felt wrong in the air, and surely enough, a chaos terminator squad materializes behind them and open fire. At such short range, it is hard for the veteran traitors to miss and half of the tactical squad is gunned down. While the master cuts down the remnants of the chaos marines he and his command squad engaged, he is informed by the scout squad that his left flank has been completely destroyed and the swarm of raptors are quickly cutting a swathe through his lines. Pulling his power sword out of the dead corpse of a chaos marine, he leads his squad back to their lines to counter this new threat.
Space Marine Turn 4: With the raptor squad still in close combat and the “hunted squad” isolated on the flank with the whirlwind, he focuses all firepower on the terminators, and kills three from combined shooting. Although he moves the command squad towards the terminators, they are out of assault range. In Assault I kill two of the scouts as the rest were out of reach, and one raptor is lost.
Chaos Turn 5: The Terminators move towards the command squad, and torch three of them with the heavy flamer before charging. My Chaos marine squad moves towards the whirlwind but the meltas fail to inflict any damage. In assault the terminators and command marines don’t harm each other, however the raptors kill the final three scouts while losing one.
Space Marine Turn 5: The Speeder moves towards my troops near the whirlwind, and fires upon the troops and kills one. The whirlwind fires a final missile at the “hunted” but fails to inflict any damage on the troops. The Predator pivots around and blasts the Raptors, killing two. My Terminators fail to do any close combat damage, and I lose another terminator. His final tactical squad has nothing to shoot at as LOS to the raptors is blocked by the predator.
Chaos Turn 6: For the final time, I move the Chaos Marine squad towards the whirlwind, and the meltaguns destroy the missile launcher and immobilize the vehicle. The last three raptors jump around to the back of the predator, and the melta immobilizes the tank. However ironically, the bolt pistol and flamer seemed to have hit a weak point in the back armour and the vehicle is destroyed. The chaos marine squad charges the whirlwind and the powerfisted champion easily finishes off the vehicle. In bad news, the final terminator is overwhelmed in assault.
Space Marine Turn 6: In a last ditch effort to get victory points, my opponent unloads everything he’s got on the final three raptors, but miraculously after all shooting, the raptors remain alive and intact!
Battle Result: At the end of the battle, the Space Marine player has a fully functional typhoon, a master and command squad at below half strength, and a tactical squad at exactly half strength.
My chaos forces remain at a raptor squad with three models left, and a Chaos Marine squad at above half strength.
According to the mission rules, as I killed the squad I designated as “hunted,” I earn double victory points for that squad. He did not kill the squad he designated as “hunted” so get no bonus victory points.
When all the victory points are tallied, I have around 1300 victory points to his approximately 1100 victory points, resulting in a Chaos Win.
Comments: Getting double victory points for killing the “hunted” squad and his failure to hurt mine is what squeezed me out a win in this one. Although the game started good by eliminating the devastator threat, it quickly turned sour on me, losing the havocs from falling back and obliterator in one turn was awful as that was all my long range firepower. Things weren’t getting better when the daemon prince and raptors were short of assaulting, then losing the prince to shooting wasn’t helping matters. Getting the break when he forgot to assault with his bikes was just what I needed. The raptors were definitely the game winners for me, as they essentially single-handedly crushed his left flank then wiped out everything in their path as they crossed the table. The terminators, although they didn’t last very long and were very late to the battle were invaluable with their shooting and keeping everything else occupied while the raptors were flying around.
Conclusion: All in all this was a very fun and close game, even in the final moments of the game it was too close to call. I thoroughly enjoyed all of it.
I hope all of you enjoyed the report, and as this took quite some time to write-up, comments are greatly appreciated. The next game in the campaign is next Saturday, if I get enough feedback I wouldn’t mind writing up the next battle as well.

Very nice report! I like the little narrative bits you have throughout the battle. Unfortunately I can't see the pictures, but that's my computer's fault, not yours!
Sounds like it was a very intense battle though, well played and well reported.
Down with the Corpse God.
sweet report! go the chaos legion!
Nice to read, and I too enjoyed the little stories at the end of the turns.
Keep it up, do it more!
