Played a game with my roomates eldar against a friend's proxied Chaos Marines today. Was surprised by the amount of sheer death dished out...
Then again I'm a Necron player and totally unused to stacking lists to beat my enemy.
HQ: Farseer w/ stones of warding, Mind War, Singing Spear.
-2 warlocks w/ spiritstones, 1w/ Enhance 1w/Embolden
Elt: 8 Scorpions
-Wave serpent: TL btightlances, Shuriken Cannon
Trp: 7 Dire avengers, exarch w/ dual catapults and bladestorm
Trp: 8 pathfinders
HS: 5 reapers, exarch w/ fast shot
HS: Fire prism w/ shuriken cannon
HG: SOrcerer w/ warptime, wings
Trp: 8x thousand sons, Asp sorc. with bolt of change
Trp: 9X Chaos Marines, Asp Champ w/ power weapon
FA: 5 raptors (To deepstrike)
HS: Defiler X2
My roomate threw some terrain around on our 4X5 field (we play odd sizes since the only space to play is our living room floor) we both deployed on the fly.
Rolled to see who went first, which was me. The game depended on this as whoever had their big guns take out the opponent's tanks first would more or less win.
Turn 1(Eldar): Wave S. turboed across the field behind terrain right on the opposite side of a defiler. Dire avengers ran up w/ seercouncil right behind(fleeted). Fire prism did a lateral move for obscuring. Shooting saw 3 Tsons down from dark reaper fire, and one of the defilers got destroyed by a glance from the fire prism Pathfinders shot Tsons but didn't drop any. No assault
Turn 1(Chaos): Rhino moved 12 and unloaded troops, Tsons waddled foreward. One defiler shifted around terrain to shoot the WS. Shooting saw 5 dire avengers downed by chaos marine bolters. Defiler's battlecannon scattered past the WS leaving it unharmed. No Assault. Passed all saves.
Turn 2(Eldar): Dire avengers retreated behind seer council. Waveserpent moved to a firing position on the defiler and disgorged scorpions. Fire prism moved to a more central position. Shooting saw the defiler downed by a glance from the waveserpent, dire avengers shot down one chaos marine. Fire prism took down all but the aspiring sorcerer. Reapers cut down half the chaos marines. Pathfinders didn't hurt anything. Assault saw the seercouncil pen the rhino and make it explode, downing two wounds from my farseer and a marine or two.
Turn 2(Chaos) Failed reserve for raptors. With his army in taters, my opponent shot up my seer council to no avail. Asp sorc tried to bolt of change the fireprism, rolled a 12 and died to PotW. A charging assault wiped out my seer council, who did nothing in return.
Turn 3(Eldar) The rest of the game was a brutal shooting finisher on my part. Pathfinders missed entirely. Fire prism shuriken cannoned the sorc to death (missed it's prism cannon for once). Dark reapers made...all 8 hits and 7 wounds, annihilating the remaining 5 chaos marines.
Game ended with the sorcerer falling. I had an untouched Fireprism, scorpion squad, dark reaper squad, pathfinder squad and wave serpent. in the end I felt REALLY bad since my this is my friend's third game, he's just learning and a blind turnabout two weeks ago saw him slaughtered by a cannoness and an exorcist. Didn't help that my list was stacked against heavy infantry (my roomate has been playing vs. dark angels for 6 odd years) We have decided that my friend should stop DSing raptors as both games have seen them fail to enter the board.
Yeah I'm thinking of bumping the next games up to 1250 or so, I'm slowly weaning the newbs up to a proper game size (1.5k right of the bad is a little overwhelming depending on what armies are playing)
The 1.1k actually came up when my roomate's WH proxie was 100pts over, since she takes about 20 minutes to come to a decision about units we just had the Chaos army throw in a raptor squad and call it good, then consolidate the list over for this match too. As it's more a matter of trying out units, and learning the game having a normal points-cost is less vital.
glancing downing armor?
youre playing 4th?
or is there something special about those weapons?
pls enlighten me
Great report. I bet your opponent wasnt happy with the Perils on his Asp. Sorceror. Reminds me of a game where all 3 of my Asp Sorcerors died in the same turn from Perils...you can indeed say I wasn't a happy camper.
