Escalation League, week one. 500 points.
Librarian w/ avenger and gate of infinity
10 tac squad with flamer and ML and power weapon
5 space marine bikes with one meltagun, and power weapon
1 attack bike with heavy bolter
10 tac squad with melta gun, multi-melta, and power weapon
10 tac squad with plasma gun, plasma cannon and power fist
3 scout bikers with 2 astartes grenade launchers.
Pitched battle, annihilation. I get to set up turn one. Table has a few trees and hills which are tall enough to block LOS. I deployed everything in the middle of my table edge (4x4 table). I set up with a few guys too close to each other. He had two squads separated by about 20 inches. He seized the intiative and killed two with his plasma cannon. Nothing else he has caould shoot. He left his scout bikers in reserve. On my turn the librarian gated 10 tacticals next to his melta squad. They were out of sight of his plasma cannon at this points. My bikes turbo boosted forward. I shot his melta squad and killed one.
On turn 2 his scout bikes came on my back field and shot at my attack bike, doing one wound. He shot at my tactical squad with his melta and missed. He shot pistols but I made my saves. He assaulted. The librarian killed 2 and my sergeant killed 2. The rest of my squad killed two more. I made my saves from his assault except he power fist did one wound so I lost a guy. He chose to fall back. I chased him 4 inches. On his turn he could not rally and they ran off the board. In the meantime my heavy bolter killed all of his scout bikers.
Turn 3 he ran his plasma squad toward me. He shot once with his plasma gun and a bolter. I got a cover save and took no wounds. I assaulted his plasma squad with my 7 remaining tacticals, my librarian, and 4 bikers (I lost bikers to dangerous terrain!). My three power weapons wiped him in two turns of combat.
Same table, same set-up. He deployed first. Kept everything on the table and all of it was close together. I failed to seize the intiative.
On turn 1 he shot and killed nothing. I gated and turbo-boosted up to him. My shooting was ineffective. No kills.
Turn 2. He shot me up with two squads but his plasma cannon over heated and killed the shooter. I lost 3 space marines. His scout bikers assaulted my bikes and tacticals. I killed 2 and I took no casualties. Then he assaulted me with his plasma squad and that fight took 2 rounds. I hurt him real bad but I was down to 5 guys in turn 4 when his other squad hit me. My psyker took a wound from a 12 on the psykic test at some point in there. He beat me by one wound and I failed my leadership. I ran into some booby-trapped trees (darn scout bikers!!) but did not take any casualties. He shot my guys and I failed every save! I had a flamer marine and my attack bike. They both fell back (not failing to rally). I thought my attack bike was out of range but he got it with his multi-melta and I rolled a 3 on my cover save. Instant death.
I had one marine left so I conceded.
RESULTS: 1 win and 1 loss.
It was great fun. I am painting my guys as Dark Angels but using the regular codex. I have 11 marines to paint and my first 500 points will be done. This is my third space marine army. I love ultramarines the most. I love my blood angels too. I am enjoying painting my dark angels…

Just a note. Marines have this special rule called And They Shall Know No Fear. In game 1, your opponent's guys should have automatically regrouped and still be in play.

your painting as dark angels and useing new codex? before you take many steps forward, your going to run into some serious opponent problems once and awhile with an army like that. But good post, nice BP.
