The following is a game played in a basement and really is just a aspect for fun
Scenario : Small tau force must hold a piece of fortified terrain for a set ammount of turns
while an evacuation goes on behind them.
Must hold for 6 turns as normal.
Troop List - tau Cohl'balt cadre
Fire warriors x12
Fire warriors x12
Fire warriors x12
Fire warriors x12
3 crisis suits missle pod and plasmas...pulse whatever rifle.
HQ - sasho ..shasho...sash master...im not the owner of this tau army..deal with it =D
Troop list - orkz
Exactly 250 slugga boyz
All on foot to give the feel of a horde really
So here we go...this is fluffy.
Sasho Saun'O walked himself atop the fortified roof of the bunker complex.
Constructed on the edge of the space port it was a durable structure and for this he was grateful.
A large center piece block house was its center...two smaller pill boxes flanked this..and the entire front was a well built line of sandbags and barbed wire.
From the roof top he looked across the rolling plains of wheat, on a sunsetting day this would have been a marvel to behold. Not this day, at the very horizon he could make out the ape like shapes of the ork mobs.
The beasts howled and fired wildly into the air, but they did not charge and the sasho credited them with their discipline...atleast in the presence of a warboss.
Scanning his defences, fire warrior teams placed evenly amongst the line, one in each pill box and two in the very front along the sandbags.
His crisis suits stood neary on the bunkers roof, surveying the land.
"Stealth suits report" he said calmy into his comm aray.
"Reporting sasho, estimated ork strength is over two hundred, we are in a rock outcropping 100 metres of your position over"
"You know the drill, take down that warboss and no ork comes within 50 metres of you clear?"
The comm clicked off just as the beasts let out a long terrible howl
And as one began to run towards them, behind him another transport landed and began the evacuation of this tau settlement, every second counted.
(Obviously we let orks go first to start running, they were long out of fire range, this is just on a pool table with the bunker terrain that is very well made at the back of one side, the orks are roughly 4 feet from the bunker, and a devilfish is sitting behind the bunker to give the orks and objective)
so here we go
(Turn one- orks)
As one the great beasts ran forward in a bloodlust, and so appeared the warboss in their midst, closing the distance fast they would soon be in range.
Sasho Saun'O estimated the orks advance..nothing within range yet. His crisis suits jetted from the top of the structure to stand alongside the front line fire warriors. His stealth suits waited for their prey.
Still the beasts ran at full speed, fireing wildy into the air in a rage, and became in range of the weapons of the tau.
(Quick note..this is just a fun little game , weve given orks a 12' per turn move with no run to make it more horde like)
Now the front lines of the beasts were in range, sasho simply nodded his approval and the entire fire warrior unit opened fire, little could withstand the power of 40+ pulse rifles and as the firing stopped the front row of beasts had stumbered and lost momentum (24 boyz dead, 2 nobs wounded)
Saun'O's crisis suits opened fire felling another 6 creatures in a poorly placed assault.
"Sasho to stealth team"
"Open fire and return to the bunker..the warboss is to far into the horde"
The stealth team appeared before the ork ranks and opened fired dropping 5 beasts in a confused daze, they reengaged their stealth fields and ran towards the bunker"
(Ork - 3 )
The warboss shouted ina gutteral language and fired his bolt pistol at the shimmering outlines of the stealth suits, Saun'O gazed in amazed horror as the bolt rounds sliced into a shimmering field of air, exiting on the other side the stealth suits generator failed and the dead warrior fell to the ground, as if relizing the prey the hordes flank turned and ran full speed towards the stealth group that was retreating, in moments they would be oer them
(Tau - 3)
Sasho Saun'O reeled at the death of his warrior, he prayed the stealth team would be fast enough to make it back. With a hand signal his warriors opened fire again, the front ork lines being only a short run from the barbed wire that was the first line of the bunker. The fire warriors opened fire and another 26 orks fell to well placed and slightly lucky shots, as well as 2 larger nobs. As saun'o watched a nob with an enitre arm missing continued to lead his charge. The crisis team opened fire
and to saun'Os disguist only killed 6 more. Unacceptable.
The stealth team ran for their lives but still had much distance to cover.
Raising his own weaponry he fired and sent 2 orks and a wounded nob to the ground.
(Ork - 4)
The stealth team dropped their camo geneators and ran for it top speed, but even this was too slow,
the first 3 were clear and almost to the bunker wall, but the 2 suits at the rear weren't so lucky.
Sasho Saun'o watched in horror as bolt rounds tore into the first and it toppled to the ground, a large group of orks caught the last one and fell apon it in a flurry of blows.
The front most orks had befallen the defensive wall and were in the attempt of scalling its short size.
(Tau 4 )
Realising this was the last attempt to shot before things got bloody Saun'o let loose along side his crisis suits, as one they slew 9 orks on the wall , yet more took their place. The fire warriors opened up and killed another 19 of them as well as the stealth suits had made it to a safe zone.
(Ork - 5)
What appeared as a mocking smile crossed the warbosses face, A score of boyz leaped clear of the wall and landed before the frontal fire warrior squads , a mass of bolt shots let loose and killed 4 of the warriors before the orks jumped amongst them, an entire squad was lost helplessly in blood close combat, the sqaud adjacent to it was no better as half their number fell and the rest fought on desperatly.
(Tau - 5)
A crushing blow, there was only hope in falling back, Saun'O just needed alittle more time , only one transport remained to disembark with its refugees. Losing almost two squads of warriors crippled him, he let loose from the bunker top and killed 2 orks, the crisis suits jetted atop the bunker along side and fired, killing 5 more. The pill boxed warriors again fired and killed a mere 12. As another score of orks leapt the wall things became worse
(Ork - 6)
More and more boyz leapt the defensive wall and joined the fray, the second fire warrior sqaud was killed to the last man as well as the stealth team was caught in a fray and killed. Ork boyz slammed on the doors of the pill boxes, eager to get inside at the tau warriors, The warboss himself leapt the wall and bellowed a challenge to all around him. His cry was drown out by the sound of starship engines. A ork mob looked directly up at the space craft leaving the area for good.
(Tau - 6)
Sasho Saun'O watched in a golden moment as the starship left the sky behind, they had saved countless lives. With renewed hope he returned to the fight, eager to slay orks and be taken by death knowing his job was done.
(So Tau held out...there was a sketchy scenario but hey it was fun. we decided to play out the rest for fun..here goes)
(Tau and ork play out)
Sasho and his crisis suits opened fire..another 7 boys fell. The left pill boxes door was caved in and orks screamed inside, the fire warriors opened a volly and killed 6 before being over run in a tide of axes. The fate of the right pill box was ill as well, the door giving way, 10 orks were searing by pulse rounds but the horde clove into the warriors in the end.
The screaming orkz swramed at the bottom of his bunker, some even climbing the walls,
again and again the crisis team and himself fired into the brutes, as the first of many scalled the wall they had killed 13, another 6 fell (we were jost rolling shoots and climbing movements, it was jsut a fun game)
As one last ork fell to his pulse rifle his team was over taken in a combat, kiling 3 more boys they all fell, as darkness filled his eyes SashO Saun'O watched the transport with a golden smile.
Yup so..thats it
for any critics..it was a fun game wih no real set rules we played as we went
thanks fer reading
Sweet battle, and well written report. How many orks were left at the end?
I like how the Battle report is written like a story, but the outcomes of the battle could have been changed monumentally if the orks had moved their average 6", but it was just for fun Nice report.
Wow...that was a good match. I would have thought the Tau player atleast add a markerlight or marker drone to each unit. take two fire warriors away and you still have 40 shots but instead of BS-3 you have BS- 4 or 5. oh well.....still good game. same question about how many orks left? also, did the orcs in warhammer fantasy some how left the warhammer world and left the empire to become the Imperial Guard?
pff Marker Drones.
I am surprised he did not shoe horn a Railhead. Can you say Submunitions?
Well maybe Orks can't. I am sure they understand "lotza dead boyz" however.

Sounds like an amusing fun scenario. Even a tau player would get nervous seeing 250 boyz on the other side of the table
nice battle report i really like the story naritive style.
"Should take you a while though because of your sloth like pace"
Click here and watch Gedderz try and cross the road
haha thanks for the comments.
Like i said..not my tau army it was actually the ork players
and i am the owner of the ork army
switched it up for a novice commander feeling really,
over all he has railheads and broadsides that could have been played but we really both knew the tau wouldnt survive it was a factor in their objective really.
idk how many boyz left..still quite a few lol
its kind of strange..I found myself super pumped reading that story...well written and very sweet style of writing. And the game itself sounded like it was awesome. I do hope to hear more from you, maybe a Warbosses revenge? either way, keep up the good work and great read. Thanks man
A feral Ork is a happy Ork.
