I recently had the pleasure of going to home brew tournament at a friend's house. it was a perfect chance to throw my one game old ravenwing army into the thick of things . There were a lot of people and the competition looked intense. Even though only played with them once and never played a fast army, I had a serious grasp on what to do. The organizers planed out that (because of odd rolling) all games would be pitched battle going from annihilation-capture and control-to seize ground. So after a circuit was formed we set up. Thank god i wasnt set up to fight my brothers cheezy nob bikers list (which apprently got run off the table by necrons go figure)
My list was (same throughout everything)
Sammeln on jetbike
bike squad-powerfist attack bike (multi melta) with two meltas and melta bombs
bike squad-powerfist attack bike (multi melta) two meltas
bike squad-powerfist attack bike (multi melta) two meltas chapter banner and reducter and melta bomb
(speeders are in there one seperate units not with bikes or together)
x3 Land speeders ea assault cannon
Tyranids (only list i really don't remember cause nids are all the same to me )
Hive Tyrant-x1 guard, 2+ save, barbed stranglers and other horrible things i could careless about
x4 Warriors-scything talons 4+ saves some had crushing claws don't really no much else (i apologize i really didnt pay attention to his stuff)
x1 hornogaunt squad with 36 models
x1 termagaunt squad with 32 or 36 guys
x1 genestealers with sccuttlers, 11 guys
x1 genestealers with scuttlers, 12 guys
x1 awesomely models cc fexe with tusked and claws and sytching talons
x1 shooting fex with barbed strangler and devourers
He one won roll and deployed one side a little heavy with mcs but the other gaunt heavy, stealers outflanking)
I setup as far back as i could with sammeln and the speeders in the right corner (mc side) and i place all my bikes on the other side
Before he went i scout up about 19 inches from his hormagaunts so i would have at least one turn of shooting.
He went by moving and running/fleeting all units up wards and if he shot didnt scratch me. The started to move his carnifexes away after the jetbike and speeders essentially spliting them from the rest (muhaha as i planned )
So went by move all my bikes as close as possible up to the hormgaunts. I wolfpacked my speeders on a carnifex. Sameln turboed all the way up the right side to essentially pull his guys even further apart. One of my bike squads did as well to collect saves and feel important cause they couldn't do anything. In shooting i managed to roll for rending hits on the shooting (not dakka fex) so it was cut down. I launched as massive amount of twinlinked bolters (21) into the hormagaunt and managed to kill a ton of them. I then charged the squad with my banner bikes and won the combat but he had enough models left and he stayed on.
After seeing what my speeders could do he sent the fexes after them cause he had to stop them somehow. Because of poor rolling the smaller squad of stealers came in next to sammeln. he moved up the termagaunts but could not charge in to help the hormagaunt (there was a larger spire blocking them in the deployment so it seperated them for me). He moved the cc fex back to try and help his assaults.
In shooting he ripped off an assault cannon and in the assault he charged sammeln with genestealers and supported the hormagaunts with the warriors. Sammeln held but took two wounds and in return dished out two. My i he was down to relatively small number of hormagaunts left and i started to knock down warriors with the powerfist. He managed to kill to bikes but save one with the reducer so i only lost one bike.
Now on my turn, I moved the weaker speeder in front of the others to form a cover save chain. I moved my squad squad of bikes between my horagaunt conflict and the termagaunts effectively sealing their fate. My last squad of bikes moved up to hold off an on coming dakka fex.
My speeders miserably failed shooting. The 2nd bike squad opened up on the terma gaunts and the third bike squad manged to inflict two or three wounds on the dakka fex.
In the assault i kept fight the hormagaunts and warriors and i killed all but one warrior which had a would left. Sammeln died quick and the stealers consolidated behind cover. I completly butchered the terma gaunts leaving only 6 left.
He was in serious trouble at this point but still had a trick or two I managed to manevour my units and deploy so his tyrant would be all but left out of the game.
In movement he move the cc carnifex into striking range. He also move the tyrant and got a a crew shaken on a speeder. The genestealers ran to hide even more to deny an extremly easy kill point. His other stealers didnt make it in yet.
IN the assault i killed the the termagaunts and dakka fex quick and managed to take down the warrior.
IN my turn a turno boosted away from the edges and he called cause his stealers would be usless and all hope was lost.
Final Thoughts: nids cant win the assault if channeled and although scary most of there stuff except for the tyrant can't do as much as you would think it can.
Game Two (I like big font):
So for this game I was fighting the organizer of the tourney. It was a huge grudge match and we have rivalries in everything. It the one game I knew I could not lose because i would hear about it forever.
Asurmen (the cool looking dire avenger guy)
x2 Striking Scorpion Squads ea five man with claws
x2 dire avenger squad blade storm, (not sure on how many guys), wave serpent with brighlance, star engines
x2 dire avenger squad blade storm, wave serpent with missile launchers with star engines
x5 dark reapers
His objective is right next a building on the far left. My in in ruins on the far right. We roll and he chooses to go first. He sets up in a line a wave serpents ea about 6 in apart. The Dark reapers deploy in a building next to his objective. .
For my deployment I reserve everything . This wastes he infiltrates which come in right next to my objectives.
He moves the wave serpents all out back and forth for two turns picking up cover saves for when i hit play and still retaining his original setup.
My Turn Two:
Luckly I only have Sameln and a non-banner bike squad come it. I elect to out flank the bikers and the land all the way on the right away from the reapers. They completely cover a wave sepernt. Sameln comes on the table turboboosting straight toward the reapers.
In shooting, i kill the waveserpent and the guys cant evacuate so they all die . He didn't see that coming at all.
The other wave serpent near the cooked one flies away cause he starts to see my lists extreme anti mech characteristics. The other wave serpents scatter away from sammeln about 8 in from my table edge (star engines). He fails to wound sammeln with the serpents and reapers. The scorpions are so far confused as what to do and sit there.
Now on my turn, all of my army but one speeder arrives. The two the do wolf pack the back of the asurmens vehicle. The other two bike squads come in right next to the scropions. Sammeln flies onto the building top with the reapers to mosh. The other bikes turbo boost from right to left.
Sammelns lays down the law on the darkreapers with the plasma cannon killing three. My assault cannons ground one angry asurmen by destroying his waveserpent. The rest of the bikes guns down the scropions with rapidfire up, leaving an extarch running away, and a three man squad left. I charge the scorpions that didnt break and lose abike but cut them down. Sammeln cut down the rest of the dark reapers.
He moved that one brightlance waveserpent to go after the speeders. The missle serpent the was covering the asurmen serpent move back back to chase down sammeln.
In shooting he wounds sammeln and kills one speeder with a serpent and shakes one with the asurmen and squad.
Now on my turn i continue turbo boosting those bikes toward his objective. My remaining bikes set up stations to intercept the inevitable 36in waveserpent contest, My final speeder comes in. Sammeln moves into charge range with a retreating serpent. I flat out my shaken speeder away from the hurt.
IN shooting nothinbg happens and my sammeln assault fails.
His asurmen retreats back to sammeln. His last bright lance serpent move toward the center of the board. The guns down a speeder and blade storms sammeln to the death with the asurmen.
My bikers land on his obejective so i now pocess both. That was my turn really.
He 36ins that wave serpent right on my obejective. He unloads the other to move the dire avengers to contest his (currently mine) ojective.
I gun down the wave serpent he threw at me and he called.
Comments: Interesting game, everyone was really fast so all over the board fighting
So my final opponent would be a tzeetchish chaos space marine player. I previously was tore apart by this player with my death guardso I wasn't happy to be playing the same sorta army. His list went:
Tzeetch Prince-warptime, winds of chaos
x1 12 Man thousand sons in a rhino-winds of chaos
x1 chaos space marines 10 guys-flamer, missile launcher
x1 chaos space marine squad in rhino (i never learned what the had)
I got first turn unfortunately and reserved everything. I picked the side with 1 objective and let him had the side with 4
He expected lots of outflanking so he castled up in one area with 3 easy to get objectives.
Turn Two:I got a speeder sammeln and a biker squad (not banner) show up and the a lot moved fast behind different elements of cover on the exact opposite of the board. All he had to hit me was the defiler.
He couldn't see anything and didn't move
I get my speeders in and not my bikes and they all hide up but closer this turn.
He lascannons a speeder down.
My bikes turnoboost in perfect diagonals straight towards him. Sammeln Turbos straigh toward the Vindicator. My speeders all flat out screaming at him.
On his turn he proceeds to take off all the speeders and a biker or two.
My bikes kept up the turbo boosting now contesting every objective except for one. My bikes back in the save zone control two!! at once.
My Sammeln turbos two.
He doesn't his best to fight my down but still have bikes left.
Sammeln flies over a line of tanks next to his non-rhino squad. One biker group with banner fights and it ok against a defiler and tson squad in cc. The other squad eats the oblites and sits on an objective. Sammeln plasmas 6 marines and charges cutting down 2 more woot!
He kill all but one bike siting on the objective in front of him. He finishes my banner bikes but sameln still contests that objective. The game ends in a score of 3-1 me.
Comments: He said he had no idea what i was doing until it was to late.
So i ended up with the highest score in the tourney and won it, but trailing by 3 points was a necron player i plan to play on Monday, i hope i win post your comments on the games and whether you think i will beat him (please ignore spelling errors)
All very good games. My fav was game 3, that just made me laugh Must of only taken 15 min to play!

Good job, its nice to see a cool army win, I always thought ravenwing was super cool.
Indeed, you should post the necron battle! I think you have a good shot necrons aren't very good in cc and your bikers should be able to take them there turn 2. Just try to engage in cc as soon as possible and ignore the monolith (again, if possible) and force a phase out. Go after the warriors.

I was just weirded out by the fact that Necrons wiped a cheesy nob biker list off the table.

You had a pretty clear advantage against that Eldar player, poor decisions in that list and he had little shooting power in comparison to most tournament Eldar players, but good battles overall, congrats on the wins

1) You stated in your game with the eldar they were trapped and therfore deuystoryed this is no oonger the case. the rule states (embarkations ectioon) that if a unit can not get out an access point than they may be placed anywhere within 2" of the wreckage and are automatically pinned. I play mech guard with siters so was suprised to find this out just trying to pass along the knowledge.
2) I enjoyed reading your battle report. I think ravenwing is an underestimated list. Its as fast as Mech, can hit as hard and can spam fists and melta. Aleays a winning combo.
3) Wow I got to read a tourment report that did not contain any references to Imperial guard.
I actually completely surrounded it so they couldn't get out anywhere, nice try though, and I also have the rulebook right in front of me and it says quote, "When the unit disembarks, each model must be deployed within 2" of one of the vehicle’s access points, and within unit coherency. They cannot disembark within 1" of an enemy model. If compelled to disembark (e.g. because of the vehicle being destroyed), any models that cannot disembark because there is no
room for them to disembark into are removed from play as casualties." So what you are saying is wrong and there is nothing in the rulebook that says that.

I will look in my rule book but in another section of the rule book it states like page 72 or something i will replay when i get home and look it up for you.
