It was my first real battle, it was a skrimish and I thought it was fair and here are the details.
-Played on a 24inch square bored. (We had to make due with what we could find)
-Terrain was 2 tree and 2 building ruins and 1 barrade.
-Game was a Simple game but with one twist, it was an assassination type game where if I killed his Shaa'ui I automaticly won.
-We played as many turns until All my men were defeated or I killed his Shas'ui.
-Tau was on defence.
-Chaos Space Marines was on offence.
Chaos Space Marine List
5 Possed Chaos Marines - Standard Equipment with one upgraded aspiring champion. 130
7 Fire Warriors - Standard Equipment with one upgraded Shas'ui and a pair of Gun Drones. 100points.
There were 2 ruine buldings (O), 2 trees (T) and 1 barricade (X) and we were deployed like so.
Remember we made due with what we had, now here is the battle report and I know this ain't how you play a real game but it was for fun and I wanted to make this report to get in the feel of it.
"It was a cloudy day, light rain and minor wind conditions but it was still tense and we landed. We were landed on a Tau outpost and our mission objectives were to destroy the Tau Shas'ui."
My brothers tau were on the north side of the field with his shas'ui deployed at the back behind some terrain guarded by a regular Fire Warrior and a Drone. His other drone was deployed behind a ruined building with 3 other fire warriors and his other 2 left over fire Warriors were deployed behind a small barricade.
My 5 Possesseds were deployed behind a ruined building.
I got first move a Possessed up the left of the field and also killed 1 Tau Fire Warriors. 2 Other possessed marines and my champion moved up the right of the field behind a tree taking cover but I forgot to move one possessed chaos space marine by accident.
My brother held his ground and opened fireing on my possessed chaos space marine that was left in the open but the chaos gods protected him and he passed all his saves. My brother than opened fire against my other units that had some cover behind the tree but they passed all their saves to.
-1 Fire Warrior lost.
-Choas Space Marines advanced up the right with 3 marines, to the left with 1 marine and left 1 marine behind in the safety of the ruined building.
The one marine left in the opened moved up on the left side of the feild into close combat by shooting and assault but to my bad luck I didn't manage to kill a single unit. My other units behind the tree moved up the right side of the field into close combat killing 1 fire warrior, as for my left behind marine from last turn e headed up the left side of the feild to give my "Lone Ranger" possessed marine some support.
My brother moved a drone into assault and another fire warrior with my Lone Ranger forcing my marine to take on 3 units but still staying strong and passing all his saves. He fought back in close combat with some good roles but not good enough roles and he still kept his ground with his unit and fired at a 2 marines that were not yet in close combat.
-1 fire warrior death.
-1 Marine vs 1drone/firewarrior on left side of the map.
-2 Marines in close combat against 1drone/2firewarriors.
-Tau assault some units into close combat putting on some what of a fight (hey that tickled!
On the left side of the feild I had 1 marine assault his way into close combat with a fire warrior giveing my "Lone Ranger" marine was backup and he managed to kill the firewarrior. On the right side of the field my champion finaly cought up to my other marines in close combat but he failed to kill anything.
My brother moved his Shas'ui, gun drone and the fire warrior next to him down the right side of the field now having all his unit in close combat and also killing one of my marines.
-1 fire warrior death.
-1 possessed chaos marine death. (poked to death )
-All unit in close combat.
The rain was harder now and blood covered some of the warriors were weak but they managed to kill a drone.
The Tau were strong but did nothing this turn.... exept loose 1 fire warrior.
-1 gun drone death.
The fight was strong and hard but Tau won't fight again. The possessed chaos marines destroyed; over ran the tau leaving nothing but mangled bodys.
Word from the players
Me: Yeeeeah I won!
Brother: It was unfair!
So my first win!!! Kinda... if you consider that fair and a battle.
I basicly wrote this to get the feel of a battle report. Is this a good basic battle report and do you guys got any tips on making the report better? Next time I'll be sure to take picturs.
PS: Sorry for any grammer mistakes or other stuff I messed up on. O and was this a fair battle?
It was only sort of fair. Tau get very screwed on small boards, you see. I daresay you would have lost if it was a 32" or so board. But it was still pretty good, for a first battle.
That battle report was pretty good, not bad if it's your first one. I particularly liked the end-of-turn summaries. Next time, you should try writing more fluff around the battle. For example, you could make up a reason for the assassination.
Other than that, well done!

It was not fair in the least for the Tau player. Here is why:
1. The board was small
2. You had a significant advantage in points (Tau-109 vs Chaos-between 135-200 depending on what Daemonic ability you took)
(Keep in mind that at this very small level a 26 to 91 point advantage is like having a 238 to 836 point advantage in a 1000 point game.)
If he had taken 11-12 Firewarriors instead (this assumes medeocre rolling) 1-2 possesed would have bit it his first turn and 2-3 more in his second turn (rapid fire ). Leaving you to fight 10+ Fire warriors (carrying Photon Grenades) and outnumbered 2:1 at least.
Try it again and take Daemonis Flight vs two squads of 9 Fire Warriors (w/ Photon Grenades)
That comes out to Tau (198 points) vs Choas (200 Points)
This would be fair and very interesting to see.
Ok ill do that.
