Because other people can't know the rules for them.
Battle report: 400 pts Orks (12 boys + 1 nob w/ PK, 13 boys + 1 nob w/ pk + 1 weirdboy, 5 lootaz [i forgot])
400 pts Necrons (14 warriors, 3 destroyers)
Everything seemed to go my way from the beginning, long story short = three turns, three rolls of 3 for the weirdboy, 3 dead destroyers.
Close combat with the warriors, my 7 boys left over + one nob won with three wounds against his 1. He failed his leadership (10 ), I won the initiative test. I win, EXCEPT = after we told the guy who was keeping track of the tournament that I won, he reveals to me that they were fearless. I told him that the combat would have went on then... and he said "oh".
One thing, are necron troop choices really fearless? Also, if they are, people need to know their rules. I would not have won (most likely), had he told me.

No, Necron warriors are not fearless. You won fair and square.
I wish sometimes people will know their stuff before opening their mouth. I've seen just too many people insist on rules that don't exist or are totally wrong. Unfortunately, I think that's about 50% of all the players out there, so you're going to encounter them. The only thing you can do about it is to familiarize yourself with the rules.
Thanks jy. I'm still listed as having won that battle, just felt kind of bad. Not nearly as much anymore now that I know I won fair. +rep
As jy said, Necron Warriors are not fearless. Only Pariahs, Scarab Swarms, and Tomb Spyders have this rule.

I am the Hammer...
Don't play people who don't bring a Codex. My shop has open Codexes for each army and I have proved so many people wrong with them. I've only been going there for 2 weeks!
Also a good idea to read every Codex. It's not a huge time investment and it will make you a better player. You won't get cheated as much either.
Check my Blog for Battle Reports, useless ranting and more! Comments appreciated.

Warriors aren't fearless. That player was wrong.
Good point that players need to know the rules, but even better is to have the rules handy, as even the best of us forget things, get numbers backwards, etc. Yes, it's a pain to stop in the middle of the action to look something up, but I'd rather a player do that then saunter up to the table with no books, no codex, and insist on knowing the rules when in fact he's got half of it wrong.
My advice: If you suspect someone's wrong/lying, ask them to cite their source. If they don't have a codex, and you're in a store, most likely there's a house copy you can dig up and check with. Catch that blowhard with three or four mistakes/lies and he'll shut up real quick.
thats kindev a lame thing to think. if warriors were fearless then the necron player would just spam everyone with them.
There are three kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who cannot.
Was this an introduction touny.? Necrons cant even field a legal army at 400. Or the unit restristions were lifted. Bare minimum is 460 pts. 2 sets of 10 warriors and a lord.
If this was a beginers battle, dont be too hard on him, your both learning the rules, having fun and learning new tactics. Mistakes are bound to be made.
And yes, you and your opponents should both have a codex.

I don't know what you mean. This was game one of a tournament that will be once per week, next time is 750, after is 1000 etc. He chose not to go with an HQ because we lifted the force organization chart just for this game.
Personally, I think he should have taken the lord and some flayed ones or something.
400 point games are serious buisiness.
