Today me and my friend decided to play a quick round of 40K on my kitchen table. He didn't want to face my new Sapce Wolves, nor the Tyranids, so he suggested I make a Chaos Marine list. I've been itching to try the CSM, so I gladly agreed and threw together a list of some sort with most of the stuff I've wanted to experiment with.
Space Marine army list ( 1500? )

10x Assault Marines
- 2x Flamer
- Sergeant w/P.Fist (melta bombs?)
- Sergeant w/P.Fist
- Sergeant w/Power weapon & Teleport Homer
- T-L Lascannon
6x Assault Terminators
- LC x1
- TH/SS x5
- 1x Hvy Bolter

- 1x Plasma Cannon
Proxied Chaos Space Marine army list ( 1500 )

The gaming field was a 31½" by 47" table, with some ruined pieces of an Imperial flying-thing (from the Battle of Macragge set) and two small forests spaced fairly evenly out, leaving a large-ish open "kill zone" in the middle of the table. The table was set up by a neutral third party.
The roll-up gave us Capture & Control with Pitched Battle deployment. I won the roll-off to deploy the object first and to deploy troops first. Since the table is so narrow, we deployed to the short edges instead of the long edges.
I placed my Obliterators behind a large piece of the flyer's wing on the right edge of my deployment zone, with the 'Zerker Rhino and winged Prince next to them. In the centre I placed my Land Raider and next to them -behind some cover hiding the objective- one of the CSM squads. With space running out, I placed the other CSM squad next to the first, though they were forced out onto the open field.
My opponent deployed the large block of Tacticals with the Lascannon directly accross from my Obliterators. Next to them -inside the forest housing his objective- the sergeant with the teleport homer and the flamer-guy. Next to them he put half of a Tactical squad with sergeant and meltagun, followed by the Devastators behind some cover, then the two halves of Tactical squads housing the missile launchers. The Dreadnought went to the back row behind the Devastators and the Chaplain + Jumpies spread out accross the back field, ready for all kinds of counter-attack moves. The Terminators teleported.
My opponent tries to steal initiative, but fails.
CSM Turn 1:
The 'Zerker Rhino zips forward 12" and pops smoke. The Prince flies behind the Rhino to take some cover. The Obliterators open fire on the large ten-strong Lascannon squad with some plasma cannons, but the cover of the forest and slight scattering result in only one dying, plus one from the teleport homer sergeants gang. The Land Raider blasts at the Devastators with everything it got, dropping three, leaving only the two missile launchers left. The CSM squads fired a krak missile at one of the Tacticals (which prmoptly missed) and a frag into the teleport homer sergeant in the woods, managing to kill one.
The Devastators failed their morale and fell back a magnificent 3". The Sergeant and his two remaining cronies made their check.
SM Turn 1:
My opponent shuffled his assault marines around a little bit, the telly sergeant and his two buddies spread out a little to avoid further frag-fury. The Devastators made their rally check. His shooting was fairly inefficient as he poured everything he had at the 'Zerker Rhino without achieving anything.
CSM Turn 2:
The Rhino zips further forward, reaching the edge of the forest. The Prince once more flies behind the Rhino to get the best possible cover in the killzone. In Shooting, the Obliterators pumped more plasmadeath into the big block close to the objective, managing to kill a whopping one as well as two assault marines thanks to my opponent making a ton of 4+ cover saves. The rest of my shooting was fairly disappointingly inefficient.
SM Turn 2:
The Terminators were taking a nap, opting not to show up just quite yet. He shuffled his units about a little more and then started to blast away at the Prince and the Rhino. A lucky melta through the forest blew the Rhino up, killing two of the 'Zerkers. The remaining shooting put two wounds into the Prince and killed one more 'Zerker. Still no assaults, although my opponent was getitng worried as the 'Zerkers were all too close to his units.
CSM Turn 3:
The Khornates rush along the edge of the forest in preparation for a charge on the Lascannon team. The Prince shifts about a little, ready to wipe out the homer sergeant and his groupies. Still nothing decisive in shooting, although the Obliterators managed to drop one more member of the Lascannoneers and the Landraider wrecks the Dreadnought. In assault the Khornates brutalize the Lascannon squad, leaving only three alive as the loyalist sergeant whiffs all his Fist attacks. The Loyalists promptly fail their test, break, and run off the table. The Khornates consolidate to the objective, putting me 2-0 in the lead. The Prince -despite going last- takes no damage and summarily butchers the three hapless chums, consolidating behind the Zerkers.
SM turn 3:
with us being in a rush -this having to be the last turn since he had to leave- my opponent and I totally forget about the Assault Termies. In shooting one of the Obliterators gets his well-protected self Insta-Killed as he accidentally eats a Krak missile instead of making his save. The Assault Marines and Chappy pour bolt pistol shots and flamers into the Zerkers, the flamers even managing to put in a wound on the Prince, leaving only two Zerkers and the Skull Champion standing. The remaining fusillade of fire kills the Prince, but none of his Troops are anywhere near the objective... Assault goes pretty much entirely to his favour with the Berzerkers being unable to kill anything and getting wiped out instead.
with no Troops on his objective and my objective being firmly in my grip, the game ended 1-0 in my favour, although we did concur that had we had the time to continue it probably would've been a draw.
All in all, a good, fun game.
Easy to read which is always good. Jy2 pointed out a rules fudge but you both seem like newer players and no ones perfect. Keep up the reports and add some more detail, I quite like detailed reports myself.
Check my Blog for Battle Reports, useless ranting and more! Comments appreciated.

Edit: As for you Prince, I tossed this report together in a hurry and didn't make it too detailed since the game was so short. The next time I get to have a proper, full-length game I'll add in some more detail and, most likely, a story version as well as the "lazy man's version" =)
