He won the roll to choose first or second and he let me go first.
I deplyed my Hive gaurd and tevrigon on my opjective behind a hill. My termagaunts were in the middle in some trees and hive gaurd behind a building on the other side of my deployment zone. Everything else was in reserves.
He set up all his troops in the side diagnal from where my tyrant was. His tanks were on the same side as my tyrant along with his sentinals. He kept the vendetta in reserves to deepstrike aswell as the stormtroopers. And he infiltrated his ratlings in the building infront of my gaunts
my tyrant moved toward the trees on my left and the gaunts moved up toward the ratlings. Teviragon popped out 10 gaunts on the objective, they took off on the other side of the hill. Hive gaurd moved forward into the building. I shoot the ratlings with a few gaunts and made them fall back out of the building. Then I killed 2 more ratlings with the hive gaurd. Ran the hive tyrant into the trees with the gaunts for cover.
His turn he moved up to cover with 2 of his platoon units, and his battletanks moved up followed by the chemari behind a rock. He shoot the sentinals at tyrant and missed. Medusas shoot at the gaunts and missed. Battle cannons shoot at tyrant( only thing in sight) and put a wound on him. Ratlings fell back more. Lascannons shoot at hive gaurd and I saved.
I rolled all my reserves in(lucky me) trygon prime came up right in the middle of all his troops. Genestelers outflanked on the side his tanks were. Zanthropes deep struck behind the russes. Lictors came in next to medusas. Homagaunts outflanked on the side of his troops. And the warriors came in by my objective (I wanted then to come in through the trygon hole but I rolled everything in). The prime shot down a squad of lascannons, thropes blew up the ruses, genestelers assulted the chemari and blew it up, the other genestellers fleet and assulted the sentinals and desroyed them. Homagaunts assulted one squad of troops and killed them. Tyrant moved up more, tevrigon popped out 6 more gaunts but rolled doulble 1's. Gaunts hung out in the trees hive gaurd moved toward the center building.
His turn he shot his remaining regular troops(2 I think) into my homagaunts killed about half. Then lascannons into trygon took off 2 wounds. Grenades from CCS and PCS took off 1 more. His medusa killed all my lictors. His psykers killed all but one from the genestelers that took out the sentinal's. He deepstruck his vendetta near the middle of the board and shoot my hive tyrant wounding it.
hive tyrant assulted the vendetta and blew it up. Trygon shoot the other lascannon squad and killed them. Homagaunts killed another unit of troops. the Larger Genesteler Squad assulted the pskers and killed them. Zanthropes blew up the last medusa. And I moved up the board with the spawned squad of termagaunts.
His turn the vets that got out the vendetta flamed and shot my termagauts that were heading to his objective and killed them all. His other troop squad killed a few more homagaunts. GL's wounded prime once more. His stormtroopers deepstruck by my objective and killed the gaunts gaurding it.
prime killed the remaining troops in the back. Homagaunts killed CCS. Hive tyrant killed the vets. Tevrigon killed the stormtroopers and genstelers killed the troops holding his objective.
At his point we called it game and I won. It was, to say the least, a butt kicking.
I don't much like winning that bad and I know I rolled perfect with my reserves, but was his army just badly put together? What should he bring on to counter something like that?
Sorry roar any spelling or other mistakes I'm writhing this o the phone quickly.

You only get what you give.
Yeah I thought his list was weak too, he's been playing gaurd for about a year now maybe longer and he usually wins or a very close game. I usually play Orks but we have a new friend who was interested in starting warhammer and wanted to play orks so I let him play that and i've picked up the dust Tyranids models that have been sitting around for awhile and added some new stuff with the new Codex.
Anyway, after the game I was tryin to think about what he could have done differently to counter what I did, but I'm really not sure what that could be. He said that he was never gonna bring tank back against me cause they died to easy but I told him I probably just rolled really good on them(killed all but one in turn 2) I know the psyker squad was a waste IMO and that takin a mech army would probablly fair better, maybe some flamers to take out the gaunts.
Anything else you could suggest would be helpful.

Well for anti horde i would have 3 demolisher russes, naked demolisher russes with a heavy flamer on the hull. easily kills horde and terminators alike and the heavy flamer helps. A good tactic with them is to hide the russes behind a chimera or a wall of tarpit guardsmen to prevent cc and you can move the guardsmen out the way for your russ's heavy flamer should you be desperate. Since he's playing against nidz, he should sit and wait, because the nidz will come to him. Then there's your anti-mc problem. A PCS and CCS with melta guns and plasma guns with a regimental banner respectively in chimeras does help. Hiding them behind walls of guardsmen help too. Vendettas with Special weapons teams with flamers ( and a democharge if your desperate or you jsut like the idea ) helps for extra anti-horde and anti-MC. with 6 TL lascannons, 8 melta gun shot that an be twin linked and 3 plasma guns shots or 6 if you rapid fire. Any MCs will think twice before popping out from cover.
For you list if you don't mind me. IMO if your taking an alhpa warrior, why not a warrior squad with it? and i feel you need more shooting, so you can sistimatically shoot as transport and devour it's occupants in the same turn if it's possible. because there's nothing more duanting that destroying that transport in close combat to find that at the squad that pops out is a fully loaded close combat squad or a plasma/melta totting squad ^^.
Hope my advice was useful
