I recently played in a impromptu game against a good friend using his "counts as" chapter of Space Marines using Vulkan and drop pods. We played a 1650 game. My list was:
MofN, Wings, Warptime
Wings, MoS, Lash
Rhino, melta (2), champ, fist
Rhino, melta (2), champ, fist
Rhino, melta (2), champ, fist, combimelta
I think I went with more of a "power list" because of all of the trouble my buddies' army has been giving me. I usually tend to stay away from Lash but sometimes a Chaos General does what a Chaos General has to do.
So we set up terrain and roll off settling on Annihilation and Dawn of War! Woot, a good old fashion shoot out! I decide to set up first and go first after winning the roll. I deployed on the south end of the board.
In comptemplating on what I should do, I pondered my opponent would be doing during his deployment. Knowing that he tends to use drop pods, I figured it would be likely that he would not deploy a thing prior to his first turn. So, I put two rhinos and the daemon prince inbetween right up to the edge of the middle of the board.
True to form, my opponent did not deploy anything. I was happy that I wouldn't have to go through the frustration of night shooting.
I rolled my units onto the board, keeping my defilers between the third rhino and the oblits. I wanted to make it so that if he wanted a shot on those defilers, he would have to drop between my forward force and my rear force. I jumped the scorcerer and ran him near the center of the board. Lastly I moved up my rhinos and prince so they would be ready to strike any units that would enter from his table edge while still being close enough to turn around and assist if he dropped most of his army between my two army halves.
During his turn one he landed two drop pods with Iron Clad Dreadnaughts in front of my Defilers! Gulp! Next he rolled on to the board with a Land Raider Crusader, two land speeder Typhoons, and a Razorback. He unloaded with his twin-linked (thanks Vulkan!) Meltas on my Defilers from his Dreads, immoblizing one and shaking the other... Too bad those daemon engines can't be shaken! He looked a little sickened that they weren't both blown to smithereens on turn 1, which is usually par for the course. Next, his Land Raider, Razor Back and Speeders all unloaded on my Rotten Prince, but thanks to high toughness, trusty Power Armour, night fighting and Invulerable Saves, he escaped only taking a single wound.
On my turn two, my Warptime was nullifed by a psychic hood in the Razorback. Boo. I sped up my two most northern rhinos and my Prince towards the Razor and Land Raider. My Defilers both stood still and pointed at the very close Dreads while my obilterators tried in vain to get a clear shot at really anyone due to very poor slow and purposeful rolls. My plague marines to the south disgorged right next to an Iron Clad and readied the ol' meltas. As the shooting commenced, the first Iron Clad exploded due to two penetrating melta shots at about 5inches, showering the area in debris. Next, both Defilers fired their Battle Cannons and Reapers at the second Iron Clad... Never even glancing! Ouch! 13 armour, how I would love to have that on my Defilers. My oblits fired at the only target they could see, a drop pod, exploding it with rapid fire plasma death. Each of my northern Rhinos fired two melta shots from the hatches, two at the land raider and two and the razor back. None of the shots were within 6 inches, but I managed to EXPLODE the Razorback and IMMOBILIZE the Land Raider!!! Go go Plague Marines! The newly disgorged Marines and their Librarian leader stood befudled in the wreckage after the smoke cleared. I decalred an assault with the Prince on the Land Raider and was 5 and a whole lot of an inch away! Whew! On his charge, he made his attacks and missed them all!!! After a debate on weather I could miss an immobile vehicle (even though it did move 6 last turn), I charged his Iron Clad with my mobile Defiler! I think I've read that Defilers beat everything in CC EXCEPT Iron Clads...suprisingly, no damage was done to either walker.
On his turn two, my Warptime was again nullified, and his other Pod failed to enter play. His turn two seemed to be named "kill the Prince and the Scorcerer."
He disembarked his Assault Terminators and Vulkan from his land raider and moved them near the Prince. Next, he moved the Librarian squad closer to the Scorcerer, and zipped his speeders into a better position and unloaded. The Prince took 2 wounds from combined fire from the Land Raider and one of the speeders. They Scorcerer took a would from the other speeder and Librarian squad. During assaults, the Prince was charged by Vulkan and the Termis. He managed to put a wound on Vulkan, but alas, died to numerous master crafted thunder hammer blows about his head and neck. The clash of the titans ended with my poor defiler getting schmucked by a seismic hammer and exploding. There were a lot of those this game!
My turn three began with some major movement. My southern Plague Marines inched within 6 inches of the surviving Iron Clad and aimed their Meltaguns. The two northern Rhinos kept their passangers embarked, one drove closer to the side of the land raider and the other swept towards the librarian sqaud. The obliterators moved to a much better location and prepared for what could be a very eventful turn of shooting. I started with my attempted Lash, which was not nullified and did pass. I moved the Terminators right next to the Librarian squad, and proceeded to lob a battle cannon and three plasma cannon shots onto the whole mess of them, wiping out the librarian squad, and killing two Terminators. One Rhino fired double meltas at the Land Raider and managed to shake it and destroy its multimelta. The other squad destroyed a speeder with a melta gun. With no close combats, I ended my turn.
The next turn, the wayward drop pod joined the battle a little late, choosing to drop its tactical in a good position to be able to fire on the northern most rhinos but still safe from the Defiler and Obliterators thanks to a large building. Vulkan and the Terminators moved toward the north east Rhino, ready to assault the occupants should the rhino die to shooting, which it did after taking fire from the speeder and the land raider. They charged and traded the last two Terminators for all of the Plague Marines.
The next turn wound down the game as Vulkan was lashed into range of Obliterators and the Defiler and delivered another wound, before dying in combat against the Scorcerer, whom he in turn struck down... After the speeder went down in a blaze of glory, the only unit left on the board for the Marines was a tactical squad... He promptly conceeded victory!
SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!
Overall, a great battle. I haven't won so decsisively in a long time, especially when I normally either barely win, draw or get stomped by this opponent.
Thanks for reading!

"Men attract not what they want but instead what they are."
If you had immobilized the Land Raider, your prince would indeed autohit, even during the same turn.
