Well, i got a lot of complaints about my 2500 Necron army, people saying:
"Oh, You are not supposed to run it that way!"
and "Oh You need a Res orb in your army"
"Dont Take the NightBringer! Take the Deciever"
Now i would like to ask those Necron Players...Where Did You Stand in 'Ard Boys this weekend?
I TOOK FIRST! 60$ Box of my choice. EDIT: AND they are paying my way into Gencon so i can compete there.
HERE ARE THE RESULTS OF MY BATTLES!
3 Battles, Opponents were (in order):
DARK ELDAR - Which i have never seen played or even played, Knew nothing about them
Now, a quick overcap of my army so you understand:
Necron Lord - Warscythe - 110
Gaze of Flame
Solar Pulse - 90 extra
Night Bringer - 360
10 Necron Warriors (no disrupt crap)
10 Necron warriors (no disrupt crap)
10 Necron Warriors (no disrupt crap)
10 Necron warriors (no disrupt crap)
5 Necron Destroyers
5 Scarab Swarms (disrupt fields)
Ultra Marines Deploy first. They have a standard land raider, vindicator, predator anh, 3 rhinos with squads of 10 tactial, librarian HQ, and another HQ (not sure the name, it was a guy with an axe, i think chapter master), a full squad of terminators. (maybe more, im not sure)
Game is Seize ground. 5 objectives.
turn 1: ultramarines start, Everything of mine is deployed on the field except for my second monolith. all my warriors are following behind monolith 1 and the nightbringer.
ultra marines focus all their fire power on the monolith. predator fails, landraider gets a lucky twinlinked, penetrating hit. 5! Wrecked! vindicator plants a template on the nightbringer, it is a direct hit. (blast gets 1 necron warrior behind it.) the nightbringer saves its 4+ invul. warrior fails cover. opponet heads for the objective in the middle with a rhino. END.
Monolith dead, everything runs from behind it. destroyers get 12" into the center of my deployment, wraiths turbo boost all the way into the opponets side. they cant assult, but they are in the open for the opponet to fire at. lets see if he takes the bait...scarabs follow the wraiths. Destroyers pop shots into the vindicator, the largest threat.str 6 vs armor 13, not much to do but auto glance on a 6. 15 shots....13 hits....4 Glances! 1, 5, 6, 5! it is WRECKED! (wep destroyed x2, and imobil....1 wep, and cant move, +1 more imobil, means it is wrecked)
Nightbringer 24" Range 9,2 pops a rhino heading into my territory...he makes a massive...PHAIL! cant even shoot right.
pariahs have no range. END OF TURN.
turn 2:ultramiarines roll for termies reserve. they do not come in. landraider, predator, stay. tac squads move in for objectives.he takes an objective on his corner. he is now winning. as i thought, he would try to take out wraiths with lascannons and his tactical squads that are no longer in their transports....goooood Wraiths and the nightbringer soak up all the fire power. nightbringer takes a wound from a lascannon. but hes ok. end of turn, nightbringer now has 1 wound.
turn2 necrons: everything advances. 1 squad falls back to capture an objective that i just realized was there. . Monolith has made his deep strike this turn. rises from the ground about 12 inches away from the land raider and right in the middle of his force. A Flash of light appears, and so starts the necron assult! the flux arc fires! 2 tactical squads, his librarian, the land raider, and 2 rhinos are in range! ROLL THE D6!!!!.....5! Land raider suffers nothing. tactical squad 1 takes 1 wound...and saves. Rhino 1 takes nothing. Tactical squad 2 (which has a strategy point.) Takes nothing as well. Rhino 2 takes 2 glancing and 1 penetrating hit! in the end, the penetrating wrecks the rhino. im good with that. the opponet is now scared....that much firepower could be an issue! nightbringer shoots the predator...nothing.... pariahs keep advancing. RUN RUN! Wraiths and scarabs....what to doo!! Wraiths move in to assult a tactical squad! 15 attacks, 4 to hit, 2 to wound. 5 wounds, 3 dead. marines turn...1 wraith fails his armor and dies! the marines lose. they pass morale and stay in combat. END
turn 3. Ultramarine calls for reserves! the terminators are in! and they seem pissed! they are standard assult termies that have 2 assult cannons. they try to deepstrike behind my warriors. he is thinking about the phase out rule now. as he rolls scatter...DOH! Scatters 12" away from his deepstrike spot!!!....and MISHAPS right into my squad! he rolls mishap. 3! i like this! i get to put them where i want! HELLOOO PARIAHS! i place them about 9 inches away from my pariahs so i can move 6, and assult my 3" so i can gain some extra ground! the termies come in. they are PISSED.at this time, basically everything is lookin like it is heading for points. he disembarks another tac squad from the rhino near my wraiths and scarabs. WHERE DID THEY COME FROM! didnt they disembark on turn 1 i ask? no, i deployed them there to make it look that way!.....AND NOW I AM GOING TO SHOOT AND ASSULT YOUR SCARABS! WAHAHAHA!....NO!
scarabs withstand the single shot that gets off. everything is fine...for now. termies take out 1 pariah with their gunz . all still stands well. monolith is shot at with pred and land raider. nothing happens. END
NECRONS: Advance hard. wraith 1 fails his WBB roll. So the monolith calls the wraiths up. On his re-roll, the wraith is back up and running! they move to the squad that assulted the scarabs. scarabs are wounded, but there are 3 remaining. with 1 wound on 1. everything moves up (and back for the objective.) Nightbringer blows the circuits on another rhino moving into my territory. it wrecks. Another Tac squad disembarks....WTF! Where do they keep comming from??? Destroyers kill all but 2. they fail morale. and start running. they will be back...PARIAHS shoot the termies. 2 DIE! failing that 2+ armor must really suck. Pariahs initiate assult...14 attacks and 4 for the necron lord. Lord simultaneous attacks with termies. 3 termies fall to the scythe of DOOM! 1 pariah has lost his armor save. 12 attacks now with the pariahs (12 because 1 pariah died to a termie) those warschythes tear through their armor and invul. 1 terminator is left on the field. he passes moral (epic pass), but takes a hit from the necron lord's lightning field! Can he survive????................................................................ .....NO! THE TERMINATOR DIES! 2+ and FAIL! Wraiths move in to try to get the scarabs out of CC with marines! initiave 6 takes the first assult. 15 attacks again.....14 get off (they were all 4 and higher! there was 1 3 in there!)! 10 wound(Sad that i failed more 2+ rolls than i did 4+ lol)! and 6 DIE! EPIC ROLLING!marines deal 1 wound to the scarabs (3 marines left) the scarabs strike back and do nothing. marines fail morale and run away. Wraiths are after them pretty hard. my opponet must roll a 4+ to even have HOPE of running away. he gets a 4! i make my initiave...as long as i dont roll 1, i am good................................................5! the marines are chopped down and diced into little cubes.
OK, its basically over. this next turn, he gets a lascannon to hit, blows up the monolith, and shoots a scarab with his plasma pistol! (DAMN YOU!!!). Scarabs end up taking a land raider weapon, wraiths take out the squad that they combated first, and i move my troops onto my objective, the objective across from me, and the middle objective. i am holding a 3-1 victory here. Predator is wrecked from destroyers, pariahs move in to take out the librarian....TIME! no opportunity to kill him off......
Final Score: 3-1...MAJOR VICTORY +5 Battle points 1125 KP, and i killed his move valued unit (termies) +1 Battle point, had a scoring unit in his side of the field +1 Battle point, Had a more scoring units in his side than he had on his own. +1 Battle point.
Total:8 Battle points, 1125KP.
DARK ELDAR: 8 Battle Points, 1900KP
We are both in 1st and second currently.
OTHER BATTLES TO BE POSTED AFTER LUNCH! (DARK ELDAR IS THE BEST! they were a true opponet against me.)

Cant wait for the rest
I think this would be a very tough force for most armies, i hope i dont have to see anything like this with my nids.
There's no need to have a chip on your shoulder, if what works works you don't need to show off. This could be written much better, all the bunching of text gives me a headache.
I did see a lot of player errors from the Marines so not a big surprise you won, regardless of what army or composition you had.
The point is, necron players can not run necrons how they "THINK" they should be run. Be different. i was the only expected necron player. i showed up, everyone thought that i would be running a lord and res orb like a cheezy mofo....but i did not. i ran stronger than that.
i will like to say that the way that i ran my lord really helped me.
EDIT: Maybe 1 day Prince, You and i will fight.

Rez Orbs are only good for armies packing a lot of S8+ or a lot of power weapons/MCs. Ultramarines are neither of those so I didn't see the need for a Rez Orb there, especially when he made the mistake of shooting at Monoliths. Your army isn't that hard to Phase Out and has a lot of "single threats", so knocking them down is smart.
I find even though Necrons are a weak army overall (they are, it's not worth arguing) people play against them wrong because A. they do not know the rules and B. they don't get to see them often. This leads to shooting and assault mistakes, which your list compounded by having three "OMG LOOK AT ME" units. Obviously I do not know the SM player personally or his list in detail but he seemed to make mistakes based on the three reasons I listed. Cudos to you for putting them in.
Don't know why you'd want to play me but if you ever visit Arizona, likely against your will because that's why I'm here, let me know.
even then, packing a lot of str8 and higher shots means that 1you sacrifice mobility (usually heavier weapons are str, and 2you get much less to shoot. the goal of my army is to not let them shoot ANYTHING except the monoliths until i am close enough to pop a cap in them. so they dont have much choice man.
ill let ya know when im in arizona!

How do you sacrifice mobility? Every army has S8 that moves and fires. Not always 12" or so but enough to keep away from infantry unless it runs. You don't sacrifice shooting either, your whole army doesn't need to be S8 just some. Not sure how you block LoS for such a big army, maybe if terrain is extremely favorable. You can hide behind the Monoliths but that will really slow your advance, besides being weak to Outflank/Deep Strike, fast CC and very mobile shooting armies, like Eldar.
Look I'm not saying your list is crap, it just has a lot of weaknesses that can be exploited. It's the Codex more than anything, Necrons don't have the tools to avoid every bad matchup. I'm not trying to take from your victory either, personally I've never seen anyone win a tournament that didn't have a lot in their favor, myself included. Tournaments are more about who you get paired against and the mission than what your bring or how you play, sad to say.
nice win there, great to see a necron battle report, especially when the necrons do well. i have to point out 2 mistakes i saw though.
1. you can't fire the gauss flux on the turn you deep stike the monolith as it counts as moving at cruising speed. you can use either power matix ablilty however.
2. now im not sure if this was a mistake i got from how you said it, but marines don't get run down by a sweeping advance. they intead suffer no retreat wounds. due to the "And They Shall Know No Fear" special rule.
and i think excess is right in saying that a little less braging would make reading this a bit more enjoyalbe, other then that good report.
Yes, voluntarily. But Deep Striking over rides that as you always move at Cruising Speed when you come in I believe.
