The Reaper’s Shadow is part of the craft world of alaitoc and is particularly strict on the path of the warrior. Their leaders are (the now) Wraithlord Autarch Kenpachi and the Farseer who, like the rest of the force removed their names in dedication to their path and for the events which lead to Kenpachi’s initial death.
The prey this time was chaos, more specifically a chaos lexicon set which, in incapable hands would give the user power over the warp storms but in the right hands the user would be able to create miniature eyes of terror! In her dreams the farseer foresaw this lexicon being claimed by an unspeakable horror, ; deathly black with a claw closing over a rather small planet as his grip tightened he paused for a second, smiled at the farseer and crushed the planet into oblivion
After 6 months of consulting alaitoc's ranger network and tireless vigil they found the planet Boxxorz. Her initial thought was that this would be a simple strike and destroy mission but unfortunately the daemon had already started its attack with a huge warp storm covering the planet distorting it into a barren land with weird buildings, inscribed with blasphemous texts and oddley unreal. As they closed on the temple where the lexicons resided a necron force teleported out of a monolith!
“this is a chaos planet why would necrons be here?” She thought frantically whilst the army moved into battle positions, after 2 minutes their image shifted in her mind turning the necrons into chaos marines, at this point it didn’t bother her or the rest of the army; Necrons or Chaos, both will die to the Reaper’s Shadow.
Farseer, guide, fortune, runes of witnessing, spirit stones, singing spear
6 dire avengers
Wave serpent, t-linked eldar missile launcher
7 dire avengers
Wave serpent, t-linked eldar missile launcher
5 Dark reapers, exarch, crack shot, eldar missile launcher
Wraithlord, Wraith sword, brightlance
Necrons: (phase out removed)
Necron Lord, resurrection orb, phase shifter
3 scarab bases
Deployment: necrons place everything close as possible to the centre except for the tomb stalker which will be deep striking.
As farseer lept into position with the dark reapers, her powers and her battle knowledge told her this position will not hold and as she focused on the runes to help her squad the monolith fired its shot directly onto their cover, Kenpachi absorbed most of the impact but there were still death screams as 2 reapers were sizzled into nothingness. The Necron lord and squad moved forward into the building firing small arms into the night spinner, if it were any other race it would have meant nothing but gauss is a nasty technology and she felt the dismay of the crew as the engines of the machine lurched, they would not be firing shortly.
refocusing her thoughts, the dark reapers fired into the monolith who were truely happy to have such a monstrous target in their sights and true to form the Exarch managed to immobilize it! Meanwhile the first recovery serpent returned fire to the necrons; their lord, unphased by the shot stepped forward and received a beating.

The Farseer looked into the strands of fate and saw that her squad was doomed, the monolith fired and all that was left was her, protective runes glowing furiously; there was still hope for her other forces! and as the necron lord aimed more gauss into the night spinner she lept out of the vehicle and ran as fast as possible towards the wave serpents.
Psychic backlash from the dark reaper's deaths resonated amongst the remaining eldar, blurring vision making the seemingly easy shots scatter way off the mark. Farseer forced visions of vengence and control into her forces and they responded well, the battle can still be won! The serpents moved into position to follow through into a tactical maneuver next turn.

Super Fail.jpg The Necrons in an effort to protect their monolith maneuvered themselves to surround Kenpachi at close range and after a brief round of shots from the squad which teleported through the monolith, the mighty lord fell to his knees; wraithbone unable to sustain any more punishment. The Necron Lord and unit retreated back into the building to reclaim the objective. One of the wave serpent transports had veered too close to the monolith but luckily only lost control of their systems momentarily from the monolith's discharge.
An eager thought swept through the Reaper's shadows as the night spinner regained control and fired the doom weaver at the unit which ruined Kenpachi, the thought turned into a vicious smile when 4 necrons were shredded. The other working Serpent after picking up the Farseer fired their missile launcher into the same squad bringing down another necron.

The 5 necrons reduced to scrap metal started to glow a luminous green and in a flash 3 of the dead teleport back to the squad, With barely any warning the monolith fires again this time at the night spinner which just avoided any critical damage again. The Reaper's Shadow had now come up with a strategy for victory and both wave serpents moved at full speed into safer locations around the temple. The night spinner tried to provide covering fire but missed the mark.

The necrons seeing the eldar move into action followed suit and brought into play a monster not seen for millions of years; a tomb stalker. Reaper's Shadows do not fear, but this monster would certainly make things difficult if it gets close.
monolith attempts to hit night spinner via building.jpg
The monolith attempts to strike at the night spinner, this of course was predicted by Farseer and fortunately was out of range but unfortunately the enemy knew this too and targeted the building in front which was reduced to ashes.
psychic test failed....jpg
Gathering energy farseer tries to look through the next events but the daemon seeing the farseer's impending victory thwarted the attempt and ravaged her mind through 2 layers of protection. Unphased by the attack on the farseer both serpents fly full pace to the unguarded lexicon vaults with the farseer and squad disembarking, the night spinner manages to land a doom weaver shot on the tomb stalker whilst flying close to a third lexicon vault to guard until the force has time to retrieve it.

Sensing the battle flow had shifted, the necrons tried in vain to bring down the night spinner only disrupting the systems again. The tomb stalker pushed through the doom weaver thread and charged the dire avengers, wiping out 4 of the six but only after the farseer thrust her spear through its torso. She called the retreat and ran off with her surviving dire avengers to plan their escape from boxxorz. With the farseer safely away from attack, her wave serpent transport calles to make space for a tank shock to protect the night spinner from harm and hold off the necron warriors.

Ending: Farseer having opened an emergency portal called the general retreat because at least with two lexicons the future foreseen will be prevented. As she stepped through into the webway she realised something; There is one one reason why a necron army would enter a warp stormed daemon world to a temple holding ancient lexicons, and that would be to destroy them.
note: tomb stalker = vindicator (yes i came up with the entire daemon world story just to cover the proxies)
It was amazing how good and aweful our luck was in that game, from my wraithlord dieing to 3 gauss shots and farseer failing a psychic test on a triple six to my dark reaper pretty much securing a draw on turn one!
Man of the match (eldar): Dark Reaper Exarch, without that bullshitingly good shot in turn one i would have lost.

i feel sad for the monolith, i have to say you got really lucky on that first turn..else it would have been chaos everywhere
it's pretty safe to say that the fight between the monolith and dark reapers defined the outcome of the battle, had my reapers survived (even with one) i would have ran them out of the monolith's range and totally pounded the necrons with ap3 shots for the rest of the game. Dark reapers are definitely tonns of points in a small area and i can see why other choices would work better but they are nowhere near as bad as people make them out to be; Hell, i had them in the second worst position on that map and they still took many shots and hurt people.
