I played two games against friends on sunday playing the Close Quarters Action mission as found here: Gaming | Warhammer 40,000 Articles | Games Workshophere are special rules , most important are attacker gets more points then defender, Shooting phases in each turn are swapped, Play on more dense terrain possibly smaller table.
We played 1500 point attacker versus 1000 point attacker on a 4' by 4' table.
Black Templar 1500
Emperors champion, accept any challenge.
Marshal, 2xlightning claws, terminator honours, frags, furious charge.
-retinuearge with tele-homer, power fist, 2x heavy bolters, 4 additional BP+cc crusaders; grenades and furious charge.
-Mounted in Rhino with armor, smoke, dozer blades.
Three units of 5 TH+SS assault terminators
three units of five Crusaders with lascannon melta gun, 3 bp+cc (one squad with neaophyte)
Eldar list 1000pts(not sure exactly)
6? 12 man guardian squads- 2 shuricats, 2 bright lances, 2 star cannons.
10 fire dragons.
First turn deployment and Templar march on
Terminators stay in reserve. Opponent is using some proxy models. His front two waves of guardians have shuri-cannons his back left two have star cannons, and his back right two have bright lances (I think).
His first shooting phase he wipes out my middle of the table crusader squad. I missed a lot of saves.
He repositions (read as retreats), My shooting kills two guardians.
My Terminators all come in (Lame...I was hoping for none), two deepstrike near objective, one comes in on homer at front line. Everyone else advances.
He Nukes my front terminators with Dcannons and firedragons, one remains, the rest of his army shoots and kills 1 terminator that homered in. He continues his retreat to the objective. My shooting kills 4 more guys. (after starting outnumbered 2:1 I have lost more guys than him through turn two 2:1...this shouldn't be looking good.)
I advance everybody, take positions to charge, and get command squad out of my rhino.
Eldar shooting kills 6 terminators, and 3 sword brethren.
Assaults are made:this is bad news for Eldar:no more dragons, no more D cannons, lost a guardian squad...The tide is turning.
Eldar re-position guys. Command Squad shoot half of guardian squad.
Templar set up more assaults
Eldar shoot Kill some termintors, only one remains.
More moves and assaults until the Eldar are wiped out; Templar Win 1500 points as attackers (match which is occurring at same time also has attacker win Scenario, maybe the extra 50% more points are too many to overcome?)
That being said I will post another report of my second report as the Black Templar defender against Necron.
Things to note about the scenario. I really do like the idea of splitting the phases so it is Attacker moves, defender shoots, attacker assaults, defender moves, attacker shoots, defender assaults. It did really make assaulting more difficult because had to endure a volley when in range of rapid fire weapons; though it essentially made all weapons assault weapons because you could shoot your shooting phase didn't preceed your assault phase so you could just always move and shoot (was pretty cheap for my command squad moving and shooting two heavy bolters out of the top of a rhino).
Not quite sure what happened with the extra pictures at the end...End of report got silly because it was just assault assault assault with Eldar running and not really putting up much more of a fight so I didn't go too into detail on how each unit made moves.
Also the link doesn't get you to right place if you want mission rules. From where it takes you go to 40K articles, Gaming, battlemissions:downloadable:Close quarters pdf.
