Shas'el Dar'ith surveyed the scene in front of him. The dead planetscape provided little cover and what little cover there was would be difficult to exploit due to the planet's strange gravity fluctuations. The Stealth Team attached to his command had reported sightings of a Dark Angels assault force in the area and he had gathered his troops in preparation for their attack.
Behind him, several hover platforms slowly moved into position. A quick word into his communicator directed two of his Devilfish teams to press towards the right while he and the infiltrated Stealth Team attempted a diversionary tactic on the left supported by the Hammerhead Vengeance and a third Devilfish team.
"Sir, we have enemies spotted!"
Behind him, the sleek form that was once the Vengeance exploded in a blue-white ball of expanding gas as three searing beams arced from an enemy battle tank in the distance. Before orders could be given, two more of the high-energy lasers mangled the Railgun on the Revenge even as the grim faces of enemy assault troops came into view flying over the rocky landscape.
It appeared intel had been correct.
Quickly adjusting his battleplan to correct for the loss of his Railguns, Dar'ith sprang into action. He would have to find other ways of dealing with the Dark Angel's armor. But that would have to wait. His Pathfinder team reported enemy assault troops closing on their position mounted on crude wheeled vehicles. Acting on their years of training, the Pathfinders of Vior'la steadied their weapons and painted the onrushing troops even as a Devilfish APC boosted over their heads, its engines whining as the pilot struggled to slow the vehicle so the Warriors within could disembark. Three Seeker missiles landed amidst the withering hail of pulse fire as the Ion Cannon on the Retribution lent its firepower as well, annihillating the chainsword weilding fanatics.
Dar'ith moved up the field, leading team Deathrain in their assault on an enemy walker. The Dreadnaught struggled with the heavy gravity on the planet as it plodded towards them. Plotting a firing solution, Dar'ith fired a missile salvo which exploded just below its left knee. It stumbled slightly before finally crashing to the ground. Three more missles from team Deathrain finished it off. Distracted by the approaching behemoth, however, Dar'ith hadn't noticed the approaching enemy Commander. Armed with strange symbols of office, he slowly approached, a malicious glint in his eye. Motioning for team Deathrain to return to the main force attacking on the right, Dar'ith closed with the Librarian. (I really don't think we need to finish this one...)
On the right flank, the battle was progressing in earnest. Six huge men in monstrous armor had flickered into existance in the middle of the firefight weilding huge hammers in their armoured fists. Crisis Team Helios, prepared for just such an inevitibility, needed no instructions from their embattled Commander. Short bursts from their jet packs took them over the protective wall they had been sheltered behind and into range of their plasma weapons. Capacitors screamed as stored energy was released into searing blasts of energy even as strange fields crackled around the armoured Terminators. Helios' agile movements and deceptive strike pattern confused their slow enemy who was unsure from where they were being attacked. Unable to pin down their assailants, they moved to engage an overflying APC, although its skilled pilot was easily able to evade their assault.
A cheer went up from the ranks of the Shas'la as the heavily armed Battlesuits tore into the Terminators. It was silenced almost as soon as it began, however, at the sight of the enemy armor approaching through the dust in the distance. Four energy blasts lit up the sky as the Ion Cannon on the Retribuition was melted into a useless mass of metal atop its armored hull. Turning their attention from the now fallen Terminators, Team Helios steeled themselves for what they knew their duty to be. Three small red dots appeared just below the pilot compartment on the giant Landraider Battle Tank. Using a ruined bunker as cover, they approached the behemoth unseen and at the signal from the hidden Pathfinders, leaped into the air even as the energy cells within their weapon systems charged capacitors for the anticipated discharge. The two Suits landed roughly their recoil compensators adjusting for the impact. Two white hot blasts burst from their weapons cutting through a foot of solid steel to ignite ammunition and fuel inside the vehicle.
As Dar'ith lay broken on the ground near the remnants of the fallen Dreadnaught, he listened to the progress of the battle. Loss of power in his Command Suit prevented him from calling for aid, and the incredible pain that wracked his body kept him from climbing from his armor. Even so, a small smile played on his lips upon hearing of the destruction of the Dark Angel Landraider. He had trained his troops well. They had won the day.
That was a damned good report man; I could picture it all in my head. Good read and grats on the win. Still dont know how that dark angels player lost tho =/

Very nicely done. I much prefer reading battle reports done like this than the ones that tell you exactly what happened each turn.
