the mission was not one out of the book it was one we made ourselves.
longest table edge deplyment 12" into.
Blood angels mission: you must resque captin tycho at all costs, he is hiding in the rubble of bunker 309. our scouts have discovered a necron force coming his way, destroy the necron force, if the cost is to dear fight again another day.
Necron Mission: seek and harvest.
Terrain. city fight building but normal rules not city fight. it was a 4x4 table and there was 5 building all forge world models.
Diplloyment. basiacally my blood angels were placed in terrain and my scouts did ther infultrate ability. necrons dipoloyed...every where in there zone.captain tycho was in a building in the middle of the table.
The death company expanded to 8.
The necron lord gave the order to move forth to destroy the enemy. the destroyers shot towards the closest enemy but there gauss cannons were inefective.
the Blood angels sweeled with fury and most squads had succombed to the black rage trusting them selves forward into the enemy, the dreanoughts weapons threw the necrons back to the ground blowing open there metalic ribcages to exsopse there circuts and wires.
the necrons fought back by shooting the dreadnought and destroying its missile launcher and stunning it with the guns from the destroyers, the worriers moving forth with no resistance, there guns spewing volly's of fire killing one of the blood angel bikers.
the blood angel bikers firing a volly of bullets cracking open the necrons metal body and then the power sword from the sargent slicing 2 of the necrons shells open. the death company spewed from the rhino clashing wiith the lord and his worriers destroying them with slice apon slice of the swords.the scouts pinning the destroyers.
the assault marines coming to a halt with the hot gauss breaking there armor open killing the squad. the marines killing many worrirs with there close combat skills only lossing an attack biker.
the blood angel scouts had resqued captain tycho and were now his escourts. the dreadnought seeking revenge for its damage and the death of his fellow brothers killing the necron lord with its assaukt cannon.(hehehe heavy 4...thats right!!!
the necrons were low on numbers and the dissapered within seconds.
in the end i caned them...the amount oftimes the lost numbers because of power weapons and assault cannon's was rediculas but i won....
P.S. Blood angels rule, the anger lets us ignore wounds ...hehehe
Interesting report, could have used a bit more detail though. Congrats on the win Though I think that necrons player seriously needs some help with strategy. Seems like he got beat way too easily.
No necron player worth his salt would let his commander die, should have taken orb and used the veil to effect.
Death company will really ruin a necrons day, however 30 armour saves will ruin a death companys day.
You just ran into what seems to be the majority of all necron players: The noob who relies on high armor saves and wbb to win.
If you ran into someone who knew what they were doing you'd have ended up facing something like this:
1 Lord: Orb, Vod
8 scarabs (or 6 w/ disruption if you had more than one tank)
the scarabs are there to tie down your death company (even with 2 attacks each and loads of powerweapons and a chaplain 8 guys are gonna take at least one or two turns getting through 24 wounds) and the rest will find one target and destroy it then move to the next.
Suggestions for fighting the necrons:
Drop the flamers, pick up the melta's. Melta is your friend against necrons. Basically think of what you fear most shooting your death company and then put that in your list. The assault cannon was a good choice for your dread as was the missle launcher. Tank hunter won't help you enough to make back the points against a necron player so I would suggest dropping that. I'm not so wild about sniper rifles against necrons, sure they're nice but missle launchers might serve you better as they keep warriors down with krak. Don't bother with the storm bolter on the sgt. in the tactical squad, instead save the points and give your chaplain lightning claws with the points left over from that and tank hunter off the dread. Again, drop the flamer off the bikers and seriously consider dropping them or increasing their number. It always sucks to lose bikers into DC because of their cost and even 3 badass bikers are likely to get pulled under against 15 or 20 warriors. The assault marines are good, you just need to drop the flamer and pick up melta/plasma and increase their number. Also, if your DC are riding in a rhino, get two rhinos, one for your tac. squad to run empty and one to run with the DC. If I had seen a BA army set up and there was a rhino on the table and no DC to be seen you could guarentee yourself that that rhino would be dead first turn and those DC would be entangled.
