A nice battle I played.
Captain 80 pts
Weapons: Storm Bolter and Power Weapon
Tactical Squad 1 86 pts
Weapons: 3xBolter 1x Heavy Bolter 1x Flamer
Tactical Squad 2 86 pts
Weapons: 3xBolter 1x Heavy Bolter 1x Flamer
Tactical Squad 3 91pts
Weapons: 2xBolter 1xMissile 1xflamer 1x CCW+bolt pistol
Weapons: Twin linked Heavy Bolter
I faced an army of twenty Conscripts (with a Heavy Bolter) two Troop Squads (with Grenade Launchers) and two HQ squads (one with three Meltas)
I deployed in such a way so that he cant Deep Strike behind me, so close to the table edge. My right flank consisted of TS 1 and 3, Captain and Razorback. My left only squad 2.
My enemy deployed only his Conscripts and one Hq (without Meltas)
And so the massacre started.
Turn 1 (I start)
All my Heavy Bolters fired. Two men from the enemy Hq died and about three conscripts. They returned fire but nothing happened.
I fired all my guns (once more). One more Hq member died and the Conscripts loosing too many men started to flee. They stopped right in front of the table edge.
The conscripts rallied. My enemy called for reserves. One of his squads came flying down. They were in front of my right flank. They fired all their weapons but only managed to kill one Space Marine.
Return Fire!!! The fresh squad was reduced to two men and started to run for their lives. A few more conscripts fell but this time they did not run.
The enemy Hq hid behind a small hill, the same the remains of the enemy squad. The conscripts fired, without any affect.
The Conscripts were forced to flee and so only the HQ and one squad stayed.
The enemy's reserve roll failed miserably (double 1)
Finaly two enemy squads landed. THe Melta squad threatened my Razorback but missing all three shots. The second squad killed one Space Marine from my Left Flank.
Kill the Heretics! The Meltas were shot down leaving a small hill of corpses. My men also shot down three men from the other squad.
After realesing a few bullets the enemy charged. The result was the following: I lost everyone apart from my sarge and he lost only two or three Guards. I failed my Morale check and started to flee. My SM fas faster and he managed to escape (but not flee off the table).
Razorback and squad (together with commander) help out their friend. From the Imperial Guard squad only one man was left... He passed his Ld test
Combat erupts between the two Sarges... and the outcome is (after a few turns) my sarge wins. The four last guards commited very strange acts of bravery. The Hq squad commited suecide and the two other men ran away.
RESULT: The guards lost everything gaining only 43 points.
In previous games he was the one who won all the time (with his unfair ammounts of Meltas and Deep Strike)

Go space marines! I'm surprised the IG didn't have any armour, and that they deep striked plain old 'Gaurdsmen and Conscripts

I am Space Marines and my friend who i always play is IG. And he always droop troops a lot of meltas, it is pretty annoying. But i can usually counter it.

Imperial Guard = Soviet Army? Me thinks so.
Your friend didnt know what he was doing, but....good job on your win.
yeh ure frends list was pretty retarded
WoW im not a SM or IG collecter but you flogged man good job but seriously imperial guard are bad
Check it out.
Its new but it will grow if people join.
I hate fighting gaurd with low points, my friend always maxes-out on tanks and transports, then comes rhino-rushing across the board. Being BT, I have little opportunity to shoot the tanks, and have to buckle down and take the 20+ guards coming at me. You played a good game, nice tactic deploying close to the board edge.
I am sorry but that IG list was bad. Your list for SM was solid. I play both armies all the time.
IG mistakes in the list
1) no hvy wpns on the squads
2) no tank
3) hvy wpns on conscript with bs 2?
4) No plasma (our sm can opener)
5) conscripts in 400 pt game?
A 400 point IG army is essentially limited to the basic mission requirements. The smallest leagal army I can even field is 500 pts. Making him play at 400 pts is bordering on cruel. There was no way he could field anything but those few meltas to take on Space Marines.
We'll show these filthy aliens what Imperial Guard are made of!
