Tyranids vs Biel Tan, 1750pts
My first game with the new codex.
Winged tyrant with full statline except I, BS and Sv, two scythes, psychic scream
Footslogging tyrant with full statline except I, venom cannon and scythes
3 leaping warriors, WS5 S5 I5 4+, scythes and claws, bioplasma
3 leaping warriors, WS5 S5 I5 4+, scythes and claws, bioplasma
2 raveners with scythes and claws, devourers
6 genestealers with carapace
11 hormagaunts, I5
12 hormagaunts, I5
2 zoas with warp blast and psychic scream
2 biovores with poison
carnifex with strangler, scythes, carapace, senses. T7.
My opponent used
farseer with guide and fortune
3 war walkers, 3 scatter lasers, 1 starcannon, 2 bright lances
wraithlord, starcannon, shurikat and flamer
10+ dire avengers
10+ dire avengers
fire dragons in a falcon
banshees in a serpent
about 8 rangers
Turn One, Tyranids
I got the first turn and advance with just about everything. The winged tyrant remained behind the other two big bugs, as he was more fragile:
My tyrant's shooting shook the falcon if i recall correctly...the barbed strangler failed to damage. The biovores stunned one war walker.
Fortunately my hormies were in assault range, as the rangers had infiltrated a bit carelessly:
I easily wiped them out by breaking and overrunning them, even though they got to strike first for the cover (we had moved them out of the woods for easier deployment).
With my consoliation move i took a dispersed formation, fearing the WL's flamer.
Turn One, Eldar:
My opponent advanced his dire avengers and the WL, and secured the shaken falcon.
His shooting killed a ton of gaunts.
Turn Two, Tyranids:
I advanced even further. Meanwhile the zoas would be able to draw LOS out of the ruined building.
The biovores didn't do anything, the strangler failed, one zoa missed with a '3' and one fried its brain with a double '6'.
At least the tyrant took out two warwalkers with his venom cannon...being able to penetrate open topped vehicles rocks!
My FoF rolls were decent, i was able to engage the reapers in close combat with my gargoyles, and the winged tyrant charged the serpent in a futile attempt to damage it.
My raveners engaged the dire avengers at the right front...and they lost, as the warriors were out of charge range, and they couldn't handle 10 DAs alone. I lost one ravener to the attacks, and one to the 3 armour saves that i had to take for being outnumbered and fearless.
Turn Two, Eldar:
My opponent took out some more gaunts, and moved his serpent away from the big bugs, after disembarking the banshees. He took pot shots at my bigger bugs with bright lances and scatter laser. I lose two wounds on the winged tyrant which could be seen, as he had tried to attack the serpent in close combat.
Meanwhile the close combat with the gargoyles ensued.
The banshees charged the tyrant, but got dispatched easily. Powerblades aren't exactly the weapon of choice against a tyrant when you can have an executioner...
Turn Three, Tyranids:
My bugs now left their cover. The tyrant engaged the farseer in close combat, the warriors at the right flank heading towards the dire avengers
My shooting failed utterly. One more perils of the warp for the zoas...
The warriors charged the DAs, killed some, and made them run away with no own losses. They ran 7", and with my 3" consolidation i could prevent them from regrouping next turn.
The tyrant made the farseer lose one wound...i should have used implant attack. He lost one wound too in return, and was now down to one wound.
My gargoyles got wiped out by the reapers...
Turn Three, Eldar:
My opponent didn't move much, other than moving the fleeing dire avengers a bit further back. They were close to the table edge now.
He then ensued to kill one zoa, and two genestealers, as well as some gaunts.
My winged tyrant was taken down by the farseer, but at least he caused one more wound.
Turn Four, Tyranids:
My lictor arrived on spot right next to the last warwalker.
I got a bit tired of the wraithlord, so i charged it with three warriors and four genestealers. It got taken out easily. The genestealers then consolidated into the nearby dire avengers. The warriors took cover from the reapers behind this new close combat.
The lictor also took out the walker, and consolidated back into cover from the reapers.
Turn Four, Eldar:
My opponent moved his falcon towards my carnifex and disembarked the fire dragons. They took two wounds from the carnifex.
Turn Five, Tyranids:
Unfortunately i don't have pics of what happened now. The last zoa killed itself with another perils of the warp. The carnifex charged the fire dragons, who couldn't really harm him. The lictor charged and finished off the farseer, the warriors went chasing around the tanks after finishing off the regrouped dire avengers...i had to take them down no matter what.
Turn Five, Eldar:
The tanks killed one warrior.
Turn Six, Tyranids:
My carnifex took cover on that piece of area terrain, the warriors continued to chase the tanks around.
Turn Six, Eldar: The tanks killed another warrior
Then we called the game. By victory points it was a draw, albeit i would have had a very hard time with a barbed strangler and four warriors against a serpent and a falcon. It would have been pure luck from now on.
Warp field for a winged tyrant would have been a nice thing to have. The zoas failed me utterly, albeit that was due to bad rolling: Three perils of the warp attacks with double sixes, and nothing but threes for the to hit rolls. The barbed strangler didn't really have nice targets, just tanks. Next time i'll definitely use a venom cannon again.
Many thanks to my opponent for a very enjoyable and thrilling game.
great battle report. i love how you have pictures of every step and important event.
other than that. i'd have to actually have the new codex to give any useful input but it seems you did pretty well.
Yeah, considering his Zoanthropes managed only to damage themselves (bottom of the gene pool, I guess), the battle seemed to have otherwise gone pretty well.
Great report, the pictures and attached descriptions allow all of those who might read it a chance to look at the effectiveness of certain tactics. Very helpful to anyone.
nice report man, awesome pics, and well fought too. i would definately get that tyrant a warp field, and a implant attack. as for the raveners, i ditched mine when i saw the new codex and went for another carnifax with twinlinked devourers and crushing claws. im not too big of a zolanthrope fan either. and extra faxes would have definatly helped with the falcons. but thats just me, i bring as many carnifax as i can haha.
nice game bro
Zoanthropes and raveners are not the most reliable of tyranid units, as they tend to either get themselves killed or they do nothing for the entire game. Get some more genestealers, i love them, they cane.
by the way, that was one of the best battle reports I have evre read.
Great Report, ones with pictures ae infinitely better than ones without.
Your Eldar opponent seemed to do ok, the Ranger move was a big mistake(why go towards the jaws on legs?) and throwing the fire dragons against the Carnifex would never kill it in 1 turn.
That Farseer seemed a little too lethal against the HT and the Banshee's a little too awful.
I didnt see you make any mistakes so you should have won especialy as chasing skimmers around is futile and pointless.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
Nice report. Good job. Congrats on your win!
Yeah Tryanids Rule. Good Tatic by the way. I do the same thing, hiding as much tryanids as i can before i attack. Use without number rule.
Hey i dont care about victory points. I care about one thing only...terror. I want my oppenent to have his army destroyed and to scare the **** out of him.
I will have a battle report on Hive Fleet Kroxigor soon complete with pictures. i should have one in about 2 weeks tops.
Fall before the fury of the Swarm!

Thanks...personally i strongly dislike without number. I consider it free victory points for the opponent.
