i took a big risk with this combat patrol. it was my first time playing combat patrol with tau. i had a unit of 11 firewarriors in a devilfish and a full unit of pathfinders with rail rifles and a shas'o with tw fusion blasters. on the 2nd turn i deepstriked the shas'o behind his razorback with lascannons and killed it. on the third turn he sent a tactical squad to kill my crisis. he rapid fired, all missed. then he assaulted, no wounds for me . i inflicted one wound causing him to lose combat and take the leadership check. he failed and had to retreat through me. even if i wasnt there, he would have fallen back off the board. i killed a lascannoned razorback and a full tactical squad without losing a single model. after that we agreed to stop as he couldn't possibly catch up to me with table quarters or points.
you where excedingly lucky, not suffering any wounds from rapid fire or assult. Wait, you cant rapid fire AND assult in the same turn, you do know that?
Stranded on a Island after a storm
-I am not inteded to die like this!
-Then you were misinformed
they later make a raft of dead bodies and drift to shore
The guys right!
No model carrying a weapon classed as "Rapid-Fire", may be used it to fire and then assault.
oh, he rapid fired with his tac squad and charged with his devs, which had moved and couldnt shoot their weps. it was a couple of weeks ago....i think thats how it went
Shas'Os are 4 wound creatures. Thus aren't allowed to be used if using Combat Patrol rules.
I think you can better classify that battle as a normal 400 points battle.
DonĀ“t mess with the dicegod
hey if this is combat patrol then your armies should be 400 points devilfish can't be used as it's av is too high (i think not sure on that one) you can't have characters with over 2 wounds or 2+ saves.
p.s. can a devilfish carry that many troops as a normal troop carrier can only carry ten in almost all armies
"take my love, take my land, take me to where i cannot stand, i don't care i'm still free you can't take the sky from meee" ;- firefly
"i'm gonna grant you your greatest wish i'm gonna show you a world without sin" ;- serentiy
"I am a leaf on the wind, watch how i soar" ;- serenity
the only vehicle who can transport 10 or more is the crusader.
DonĀ“t mess with the dicegod
I think that the Devilfish is the heaviest vehicle allowed (total AV of 33). This was probably intentional: all armies hoave access to a transport vehicle, but few others.
And also: the chimera can fit a maximum of 12 guys in it.
I say the game was 90% luck in the Tau's favor. normaly I ALWAYS sustain damage to my Tau against the SM. That includes when I have a good game and win. But every blue moon I see or hear about games that go one sided like this due to rolls.
