Greetings Bretheren, I bring word of a victory over the vile and despicable zenos of the Alaitoc Craftworld.
If this was the standard of thier warriors then it amazes me that Alaitoc itself has not been purged from our galaxy yet.
His Forces, Alaitoc Ranger 1500pts.
Singing Spear, Mind War, Eldritch Storm, Runes of Witnessing.
6 Warp Spiders,
10 Striking Scorpions,
Exarch Scorpions claw, Stealth.
20 Defender Guardians
Starcannon, Warlock with Conceal
3 Units of 4 Rangers.
1 unit of 4 Pathfinders.
1 Vyper, CTM and Starcannon.
1 Vyper, CTM and Bright Lance.
1 Falcon Grav Tank CTM and Starcannon,
1 Wraithlord, Brightlance.
My DA 5th Company with attached Ravenwing.
Librarian, Storm bolter, Terminator Armour, Vortex of Doom.
2, 5 man Tacticla squads with Lascannon
2, 7 man Tactical Squads, both with Plasma gun and Plasma cannon, I with vet sgt, Plasma Pistol, Power Sword. 1 with Vet. Sgt Plasma Pistol and Power Pist.
5 Assault Marines, 3 Plasma Pistols, Powerfist.
5 Strong (Ravenwing) Bike Squadron.
Veteran Deathwing Sgt. 2 Melta guns.
Vindicator with PotMS
Terrain included a SM outpost on the right with walls comprising impassable terrain. A ruined bunker on the left and several rock monoliths dotted about. This left a large fire lane down the centre but space to infiltrate on the left and right.
Deployment/Alaitoc Annoyance Phase(AAP)
I deployed my 2 Lascannon Squads together centrally to gun for any WL or Falcon that came thier way. The 2 Plasma Squads went centrally too, ready to fire thier Plasma at similar targets or advance to take the fight to the Eldar.
The LST's clustered behind one of the Rocks on my left, the Vindicator went hull down on the Outpost training its gun over the ruins and central ground.
The Whrilwind hid in a corner.
The Assault Marines went behind a Rock near the Whirlwind and the Bikes clustered behind the Vindicator.
His Guardians were central, with a ranger squad tagging along. The WL and one of the Vypers (Starcannon) went on the right, out of LoS behind the outpost. The Falcon and other Vyper hid on the right.
2 Ranger and a Pathfinder squad infiltrated onto the roof of the Outpost, the Scorpions hid under a rock in the ruins on the left.
One Tactical squad started pinned, one was in reserve and the Assault Marines who would have countered the Scorpions were also in reserve.
Turn 1 Alaitoc.
1 of the Squads of Rangers advanced on the Outpost roof top get into LoS, the Wraithlord rounded a corner to get LoS to the Vindicator.
The Scorpions moved forward to the edge of the ruins.
All three vehicles used CTM to pop out fire and retreat.
4 casualties were caused on one of my Plasma Tactical squads. The Vindicator was left un harmed after the Wraithlords Bright lance missed and the Vypers failed to penetrate.
Turn 1 Dark Angels.
The LST's moved out to Target one of the Ranger Squads but remain out of line of site of the bulk of the Alaitoc forces.
One of the Tactical Squads advanced to cover where the Scorpions would have to move while remaining out of LoS to the rest, the other squad was pinned.
Without reinforcements nearby and with the Scorpions breathing down thier necks the Lascannon tactical squad on the left chose discretion over valour and moved out of charge range to train thier lascannon on the WL. The Vindicator spun to target the Scorpions.
The Bikers turbo boosted to shift from one flank to the other to cover for the Assault Marines absence.
The Whirlwnd dropped a spot on Vengeance round onto the Spiders killing 2 but not pinning them.
The Vindicator got annother direct hit on the Scorpions, Blatting 4 of them, again they held.
The LST's poured fire into the Rangers on the outpost, killing them all.
The moving Tactical Squad rapid fired at annother squad killing them all in a hail of bolt and Plasma Death.
All in all alot of dammage done I thought.
Alaitoc Turn 2.
The Spiders went over (through) the Ruins ending up near the LST's oops. the Scorpions followed them out preparing to charge the LST's too.
The WL advanced down the centre and the CTM vehicles did thier normal thing.
4 of the pined tactical marines went down to Sniper and Starcannon fire. 2 of the LST's were knocked out by Snipers, the Scorpions and the Spiders.
Dark Angels Turn 2.
Surprisingly the Tactical marines lugging thier lascannon turned up before the Assault Marines. As they had moved they were pretty impotent this turn.
The Bikes moved up on the Scorpions.
The remaining LST zoomed away to hide after the destruction of its mates.
The Scorpions had had the audacity to assault the LTS's, now that the remaining LST had flown off they were standing in the open looking very silly.
Asingle plasma Cannon shot killed 5 and the bikeres easily finnished the Exarch with thier melta's.
The Vindicator put a wound on the WL but the Lascannon missed.
The Whirlwind killed a squad of Rangers pretending to be Guardians.
Alaitoc Turn 3.
The Writhlord Advanced, the Warp Spiders moved up to attack the Bikers and the CTM again did its waltz.
One Tactical squad was finnished and 2 others took casualties.
The Wraithlords Bright Lance Penetrated the Vindicator to Immobilise it.
1 Biker went down to the Warp Spiders.
Dark Angels Turn 3.
Still no Assault Marines.
The LST moved onto the tail of a Vyper, a short dogfight ensured. The LST won.
A Tactical Squad moved to rapid fire the Wraithlord.
The Bikers moved into the ruins to mete it out to the Warp Spiders.
The Librarian moved into the outpost.
The Whirlwind pinned the Guardians. Then something awful happened. The Vindicators shell scattered 6" straight towards my tacticals getting a tiny partial on all 3 and killing them all. Drat.
The 2 lascannon did a single wound on the WL.
The bikers killed 2 Warp Spiders.
The Bikers ripped the Warp Spiders to bloody shreds before sweeping into the cowering farseer.
Alaitoc Turn 4.
CTM and an advance of the WL.
Killed 1 LST.
The bikers crushed the Farseer.
Dark Angels Turn 4.
The Assault Marines finally turned up, they moved on past the Wraithlord headed for the Pathfinders in the outpost.
The bikers moved up to the Guardians.
1 lascannon and the Vindicator failed to scratch the Wraithlord.
The Assault Marines took it down with plasma Pistol fire thank goodness, losing a man in the process.
1 lascannon shook the Falcon.
The bikers rapid fired the Eldar Guardians, killing 4.
The Bikers tore into the Guardians killing 5 and watched the remainder run off the table. they consolidated towards the Falcon.
Alaitoc Turn 5.
Shooting All remaining snipers and the bright lace Vyper killed 2 Bikers.
Dark Angels Turn 5.
The Assault Squad moved to the outpost ready to attack the Pathfinders in the last turn.
The Bikers moved to the rear of the Falcon with thier meltaguns.
A lascannon missed a Vyper and the other failed to dammage the Falcon. Both meltaguns missed the unmoving rear armour of the Flacon fron 6". Mega Drat.
Alaitoc Turn 6.
The Falcon and the Vyper moved out of LoS.
The last bikers were aniahlated by the Falcon, Vyper and Snipers.
Dark Angels Turn 6.
The Assault Marines jumped to behind the Pathfnders on the outpost roof.
Bolt Pistols accounted for 2 of the Pathfinders. A lascannon nocked the starcannon off the Falcon
Assault: The Assault Marined did thier job on the remaining Pathfinders wiping them out.
Victory to the DA.
I must say the Bikes did well, they scored the Wrp Spiders, Farseer and Guardians. But failed on the Falcon at the end.
The 5 man assault squad did just what I wanted, a 10 man squad would have been twice as many points not on until turn 4.
Thats 1 to the Order of the White Sword then.

If your Assault Marines used Bolt Pistols (Rapid Fire type weapon) then they could not have charged the Pathfinders in Turn 6. Otherwise, sounds like it was a good game!
I've thought about a Ranger force, but they didn't seem to impact the battle that much. In terms of their shooting and effectiviness. What was your thoughts on the Rangers after the battle?
40K: Tyranid, Necron, Space Wolves
Fantasy: Dark Elves, Lizardmen, Orcs & Goblins, Dwarves
Bolt Pistols are PISTOL weapons, you may move fire once and assault or stand still and fire twice. As I moved I could still assault after firing once.Originally Posted by Romulus
The Rangers seemed to die quite easily, 1 squad got rapid fired after setting up badly. 1 was wiped out by 3 LST's and annother had a Whirlwind Shell dropped on them. The Pathfinders didnt go down until turn 6 but that was mainly due to my units not turning up.
They otherwise didnt seem too differnt from normal Eldar. The guy I played wasn't the most brilliant tactician though.

great BR! i must say though, its quite biased to your favor hahahaha next time try and be as detailed as possible with the opposing player as well. other than that, way to kick xenos ass!
"how many autocannon shots at my deamon prince?"
"11 guns... im consolidating my army because nothing else can hurt it."
'' that seems excessive"
"not when you think about the damage that damn monstrosity will enact upon my feeble weakling humans. FIRE THE REALLY BIG GUNS!"
Not to spoil you victory, but as soon as I had read halfway through the eldar armylist I knew he was doomed. No one can win with an army as ill proportioned as that >.< And especially not against an army like space marines.. This was a black day for the eldar..
But yeah, this was a great battle report. Keep it up.
Indeed....expensive CTMs + Bright Lances on Vypers...Guardians with Starcannons yet no guide....far too many points in rangers....a Falcon without the mandatory holofield or spirit stones?
It took as long reading the Eldar army to figure out this was going to be a one-sided battle. Nice battle, but next time you see him, you should give your friend some tips on writing Eldar army lists.
Or better, tell him to join LO! We´ll take good care of him in the eldar section
I will pass along a few comments, but this was at a Vets Night and I had not seen the guy arround before.
The army list did look to me to be hugely inefficient, 19 Guardian meatshields for 1 Starcannon? I want to play him with my IG next time, see how much he enjoys Hellhounds.
