    WH40K Battle Arena 2 round 1 results

Alright, so now that Lordlink has gotten to have the fun of writing up four of the fights its time the results were posted.

It didn’t matter in the end though.

    Alexandria VS Ezreal

Both combatants marched purposefully into the arena, each muttering their prayers to the emperor. Ezreal acted first charging forwards in a fury at the Sister of Battle. Alexandria was well prepared for such a rash charge however and dived sideways firing a constant stream of heavy firepower at the hugely armoured figure of her opponent. Suffering grievously under the super heated hairdryer, Ezreal’s charge at last connected. With the timed precision acquired from hundreds of years of battle he whirled and slashed and pirouetted, cutting easily through the sister’s armour with his sword. Against such an assault Alexandria defended as best she could, focusing all her energy into just staying alive with no chance to make an attack of her own. As the rampaging charge lost its momentum Alexandria slowly began to bring her own into the fight, deflecting each of Ezreal’s blows. Ezreal was tiring now, he had put everything into quickly overwhelming the sister of battle but she had proved tougher than he thought. Putting all remaining his strength and energy into a final blow determined to cleave Alexandria in half. Alexandria quickly brought up her own blade to parry Ezreal and the two blades locked in the psychic shockwave as their faith in the emperor clashed against one another. For a moment the psychic energy of their prayers fought for control. Gradually Ezreal realised that he was losing the battle of wills as Alexandria brought her blade closer and closer. Uttering her best prayer to the emperor Alexandria let her guard drop and allowed the blow to strike her in the neck. There was a huge flash as the blade bounced harmlessly off an invisible shield. Alexandria took full advantage of her minor victory and drew her melta pistol. Firing repeatedly she broke through the rock hard armour of her opponent bringing him to his knees and eventually, flat o his stomach. Alexandria strutted out of the arena to the roaring cheers of her fans. Some of the more enthusiastic had also brought their heavy metal band along and were playing as loud as they possibly could.

Alexandria used 2 faith points on the 2+ invulnerable save
Alexandria fired her melta pistol dealing 2 wounds to Ezreal because of instant kill.
Ezreal got the charge, scored 4 hits and 3 wounds
Alexandria failed 1 save, taking 2 wounds
Alexandria scores 1 hit, 0 wounds
Ezreal scores 1 hit, 0 wounds
Alexandria 2 hits, 2 wounds, both saved
Ezreal 4 hits, 4 wound, all saved
Alexandria 3 hit, 2 wound, 1 failed save
    Ezreal dies and Alexandria wins

    Khalis VS Kriz’nor

From his side of the arena Khalis watched the beast dash from side to side, testing its muscles. Noting the incredible speed of the creature Khalis realised he was outmatched; he soon remedied the situation by taking certain drugs to outmatch the beast. As the monster finished its preparation Khalis launched his sudden attack swinging left and right. Faster than his eye could comprehend the bug had coated him with a vile acid. Khalis had spent his entire life injecting poisonous substances into his body however and he accepted the pain they brought without allowing it to hinder his movements. Shrugging off the acid Khalis kept up his attack hitting the bug repeatedly and trying to find a weak point in his tough scaly skin. At last he found one and stabbed the beast with all his strength. The Agoniser tore through the weak point and into the monsters vitals. Roaring with fury Kriaz’nor dropped his act of agility and sought to simply tear through the weakling with his powerful jaws. Khalis however, activated his shadowfield and for all the ‘nid knew he had disappeared. Taking advantage of the respite Khalis took the time to inject more of his valuable drugs. Again to keep him faster and more agile than Kriaz’nor. This time however he felt a stinging sensation in his heart. Curses, the acid must have weakened his immune system. The drugs he had taken for so long were making him feel dizzy and weak. Curse the creatures intelligence! Still hidden from the monster Khalis knew he had to end the fight quickly before his lungs gave way. Lunging with the strength he had left and avoiding the acid Kriaz’nor was flinging in all directions he leapt at the wound he had opened previously. Slicing his agoniser into the wound Kriaz shrieked with pain. Khalis stood tearing the hole wider and wider until Kriaz finally stopped thrashing. The fight was over as Khalis collapsed on the ground desperately trying to regain his breath.

Khalis takes drugs giving him the charge and +1I (allowing him to hit 1st).
    Acid attack wounds, saved
Khalis attacks and gets 3 hits, 3 wounds, no save
Kriaz’nor gets 2 hits, 2 wounds, both saved on the shadow field.
Khalis takes drugs for +1I and +1 attack. Takes a wound on a double 2.
Khalis gets 3 hits, 2 wounds, no save
    Kriaz’nor dies.

    Grimm VS Kruncha

Orb of Antioch missed despite BS5
Grimm attacks, gets 3 hits, 3 wounds, warboss saves 1 taking 2 wounds.
Bionik arm hits, wounds and Grimm passed his save.
Kruncha gets 1 hit, 1 wound, save passed.
Grimm gets 1 hit, 1 wound, save passed
Bionik arm hit, failed to wound
Kruncha got 4 hits, 3 wounds, 2 failed saves meaning Grimm is dead.

The instant he was in the arena Kruncha roared forwards on his bike charging straight into his enemy with no thought as to who his opponent might be. Alarmed by so sudden an attack Grimm dropped his grenade, almost killing himself! It was enough however to give Kruncha pause, powering up his klaw. Recovering quickly from the explosion Grimm tore at the ork with both his lightning claws tearing through many of the orks limbs, even the bionik one. Crippled but still willing to fight Kruncha at last brought his klaw to bear smacking Grimm as hard as he could. Kruncha stood stupefied as his his klaw bounced off an invisible forcefield. Grimm muttered a quick prayer of thanks for the emperor’s divine protection in this fight. Grimm kept up his attack going after the most vital of the orks limbs, his head. His claw broke through the light armour like paper; however it was Grimm’s turn to be stupefied. His claws bounced harmlessly off of the orks adamantine skull failing to cause any damage at all. Emperor damn these cyborks. By now Kruncha was bringing his power klaw to bear again and this time he avoided the Halo. Punching repeatedly through Grimm’s chest Kruncha bellowed with triumph as he watched his opponent collapse into a bundle before him. Kruncha kickstarted his bike and screamed out of the arena, crushing his opponent under his bike one last time as he did so.

    Kalith VS the Mystery Fighter

Combat drugs for +1I (to hit 1st ) and to get the charge.
Kalith gets 2 hits and no wounds
Mystery scores a hit and a wound, Kalith dodges it.
    Drugs for +1I and +1A
Kalith gets 2 hits, 2 wounds, no save
Mystery gets 1 hit, 1 wound, save passed
    Drugs for +1I and +1A
Kalith gets 4 hits, 1 wound, Mystery Fighter dies.

Kalith grinned as he watched his archon ‘counterpart’ coughing and wheezing. He admired his opponent’s choice of drugs against the tyranids and selected the same for himself. With extreme speed Kalith ran confidently across the arena grounds and onto the shadowy form of his nemesis. He hit the beast repeatedly but became frustrated as he realised this ‘nid had no weak point. Khalis had gotten lucky; it looked like Kalith would have to rely on his skill. Mystery snapped back with a powerful swing of his talons, screeching as the form of his opponent became hazy and difficult for even the enhanced bug to see. Injecting his strongest drugs Kalith knew he would have little time to do so again, using ones that he knew would last until the end of the fight. Done with seeking a weak point Kalith went straight for the creature’s throat, attacking with all his strength and skill. Mystery was simply to slow to dodge such attacks and the painful touch of the agoniser pierced his skin, leaving deep gashes in his neck. Flailing with the last of his strength before the fatal wounds killed him Mystery lashed out again with his scythes but Kalith had already sunk back into the shadows and out of sight with the aid of his equipment. Leaping back into sight all of a sudden Kalith lunged straight into Mystery, ramming his agoniser straight through the monsters tough hide and into his inners. From there the pain left by his agoniser rendered Mystery immobile. Unable to move, thanks to the poisons inside of him. Kalith smiled to himself knowing that the others had been aided by luck. Skill alone had helped him through the arena and into the next round.

Well I might not be as good as darkreever (or anyone else for that matter) but that just took me forever.
Oh and Lordlink, Kalith's additional invulnerable save is entirely legal since wych archons have all of the rules of normal wych's. (Including the dodge rule.) So if the +2 save were ever to fail Kalith always has the +4 to fall back on.

    Fight 5
    Excerion Vs. Krull the Bloodcleaver
With the first four fights over and done with, it was time for the next four to begin. From one end of the arena came the horrifying form of Prince Excerion in all his warped splendor, and from the other end of the arena came Krull the Bloodcleaver. Without hesitating, both warriors charged forward and clashed in a shower of blood and sparks as mutated armour collided with ceramite. As the two passed each other, great rents opened up in Krull's armour as a blur arced its way around Excerions trunk sized arm. A daemonic axe reshaped itself inside Excerions hand as its lust for the blood of its wielders enemies only barely held the weapon at bay. Without losing momentum however, Krull planted one leg and wheeled around with the deadly weapons in his hands; jabbing them deep within Excerion's lower torso. In a bout of anger, Excerion smashed Krull in the side and sent the chaos champion flying, tearing one of his weapons free as Excerion tore the second one free and tossed it away. Leaping high in the air, Exerion brings the axe high up as it turns into a massive double bladed axe, preparing to end the fight in one final stroke; but at the last moment Krull dodges to the side, ramming his remaining weapon into Excerions armoured back before bringing his armoured gauntlet down around the princes head and slams Excerions lower jaw up with a wicked crack as dozens of razor sharp teeth find a place in the princes head. Bellowing atop Excerions dieing body, Krull tears his weapon free again and hacks down on the princes head as wave after wave of blood erupts from wound after wound until the head rolls off and Excerions giant body slumps to the ground.

    Rolls:
Excerion gets first move, but cant fire his pistol because he has stature.
Exerion- 2 Hit, 2 Wound, pass mastery
    Krull- 3 Hit, 3 Wound, 2 saved
    Excerion- 2 Hit, 0 Wound
Krull- 3 Hit, 2 Wound, none saved
    Excerion- 1 Hit, 0 Wound
Krull- 3 Hit, 1 Wound, fails save, Excerion dies

    Fight 6
    Paulie Vs. Commander Darkstar

As two dozen armed gaurds drag a heavily sedated Krull off of the corpse of Excerion, Commander Darkstar and the creature known as Paulie enter the arena. Darkstar takes aim with his plasma rifle and Fusion blaster and lets fly a flurry of shots that see both bolts of plasma strike Paulie dead on while the stream of energy just misses by a hairs length. Shruggin off the blunt of the blow Paulie bounds forward and hits Darkstars battlesuit with attack after attack, some finding weakpoints in the modified crisis battlesuit while others scraped away at the paint. One particular blow found its way inside the very center of the suit, where a mouthlike appendage stabs at the curled up body of Darkstar himself, sucking away blood and life in order to sustain itself from the damage caused by the plasma. Bringing one arm down in a pain filled attempt to remove the creature, Darstar connects and manages to grab hold and tear the creature free but not before eliciting even more pain as the mouth took one last bite form him. Ignoring the arm holding it, Paulie stabs out and rips off the battlesuits head, bringing the suit to its knee's as the occupant within works desperately to reroute systems in a blink and regain sight. In an attempt to buy himself more time, Darkstar throws the suits arms out and hits Paulie, doing what appears to be little damage but stalls the beats long enough for him to regain his sight. With an aniimalistic roar, Paulie comes forward again and slams down with limb after limb, battering the suit and tearing away chunks with each hit. The mouth-like appendage again tears through the main armour of the suit and lodges itself right on Darkstars chest, sucking away at his lifeblood and bringing a scream of pain. This time though, Darkstar managed to grab hold of the appendage and tyear it away before Paulie could gain anything form it. As the limb tore away from Paulie, it plunged its razor teeth deeper into Darkstar that overloaded the systems hooked up mentally to him and fried his brain.

    Rolls:
    Darkstar gets first move
Rapid fires plasma gun and single shot with fusion blaster. Hits twice with plasma, misses with fusion, wounds twice, Paulie saves once.
Paulie gets charge because Darkstar fired a rapid fire weapon- 4 Hit, 2 Wound, save 1, Paulie regains 1 wound
    Darkstar- 0 Hit
Paulie does not regain any wounds
Paulie- 3 Hit, 2 Wound, fails both
Darkstar- 4 Hit, 2 Wound, fail both saves
    Paulie regains no wounds
Paulie- 3 Hit, 2 Wound, fails 1, Darkstar dies, Paulie recieves 1 wound through failed vampirism

    Fight 7
    Joruth Vs. the Nameless Executioner
Before this begins, sorry Xiahou Dun it looks like Joruth was the first one to face the Executioner.

With the remains of Darkstar sparking and twitching to the side of the arena, the seventh fighters entered the arena. The winner of the first battle arena, the Nameless Executioner with a trio of hounds flanking him, from one side of the arena while Chaplain Joruth walked out. As the two enter a mountain of cheers greeted the Executioner as the crowds readily awaited to see the arena's champion take the life of another. The Executioners trademark cloak, which had kept his identity a mystery thus far, appeared even more tattered than before and no longer covered the lower portion of his face, which now sported more scars than the last time anyone had seen it. A smile crept across the Executioners face as he dissapeared and reapeared right in front of the terminator chaplain. Having heard of rumours of the Executioners wins, Joruth brought up his crozius in time to parry the first blow and managed to lock his mighty weapon with the Executioners; but where one was a seasoned warrior the other was a veteran far greater than any normal astartes. The Executioner slowly began to push forward, where the power field of the crozius began to strip away at the tactical dreadnought armour. Without uttering a word, and from what could best be describes as nowhere, the hounds hit Joruth, teeth sinking deep in the armour of the chaplain but doing no damage what-so-ever. Bringing his bulk forward, Jortuh pressed the activated crozius to his chest and shoved the weapon through the Executioners own blade, snapping it in two and landing the crozius in the Exectuioners arm. The hounds attacked again, forcing the chaplain to fight them away with nothing but his own arms as he failed to remove the crozius from the Execuitioners arm. Again the hounds teeth failed to cause more than minor damage but the Executioner took the momentary respite to remove the crozius out of his arm and place it in the chaplains back..and out the chaplains chest. Without even waiting for Joruth to hit the ground, the Executioner made for the exit of the arena.

    Rolls:
Executioner gets first move- 4 Hit, 3 Wound, 1 failed
    Joruth- 4 Hit, 3 Wound, 2 saved
hounds- 6 Hit, 4 Wound, save all
    Executioner- 3 Hit, 3 Wound, 2 saved
Joruth- 2 Hit, 1 Wound, saved
hounds- 2 Hit, 2 Wound, both saved
Executioner- 3 Hit, 2 Wound, 1 saved, Joruth dies

    Fight 8
    Venom Tyrant Vs. Marshal Nathaniel

With the last fight about to begin, the crowds waste no time in making sure their approval is heard as the final fighters enter the arena. From one side comes a figure clad in black armour, decorated in personal heraldy, and complete with white on the shoulder gaurds. From the opposite end came a sight all to familiar to the onlookers as the ground shook with every step of another hive tyrant. Though unlike the first one in the last arena, this one appeared even deadlier with an different array of exotic bio-weapons. With a growl, the Venom Tyrant fired the massive bio cannon at the marshal, catching him in the arm and melting away the shoulder gaurd and scrolls that had decorated it as well as burning the skin underneath, before firing the smaller bio gun while charging forward at Nathaniel. The smaller shots impacted on the ornate power armour but did no damage at all as the tyrant charged forward into him. Unhindered by the tyrants murderous charge, Nathaniel swept around with his lightning claws and rent the tyrants body full of gouges and holes as well as managing to cleave the giant beast in half. Without even looking, Nathaniel spat on the ground before walking away.

[Now this was the fastest fight I've seen since Ruzzgut's first round in the first arena...]
    Rolls:
    Tyrant gets first move
VC-2 hits, 2 wounds, fails 1 save, causes two wounds
Devourer- 6 Hit, 4 Wound, all saved
Tyrant charges- (simul combat) 5 Hit, 4 Wound, all saved
Nathaniel- 4 Hit, 4 Wound, no saves, Tyrant dies

And round one of four comes to an end with most of the power armoured characters dead and the riegning champion still wanted dead by every other surviving character for those nice bragging rights.

These fights were again fun to write, and Lordlink I hope you enjoyed writing your four as well. Now time to go see who lives to see round three and who doesnt.

Ah, so Kailith beat the Beast! Excellent! Her followers among Gesprax's Marauders will be pleased with this result, though total victory is preferable. Guess I should take this time to say that Kailith is a female character, just to avoid future confusion. I can send LL a description if he likes, as well as my preferred tactics and clear up any Q's on wargear he may have.

This is shaping up to look like a good batch of fights, mates. Here's hoping Round Two is just as action-packed. What was the Mystery Fighter anyways?

    Peace out,

Xiahou Dun, next time I'm gonna make sure I know who's fighting who before I say something off the top of my head.

I'm starting to regret the fact I didn't take the Dreadaxe this time around. Too many DE characters. Ugh. And my hounds proved to be completely pointless, but perhaps they'll be useful in the next match. At least I know that if I go up against the Tyrant I'll have something to eat the ranged weaponry wounds...

Ah well, at least I got to add another kill to the tally. What's that now, four in a row? RAR!

Just remember that she gets one or the other, she can't take both in the same round. It's just nice to have a 4+ after you lose the Shadowfield.

    Edit -
Question, though I'm not complaining, but how many wounds did that Chappy have? I count four, but I'm pretty sure Chappys can only have three?

Knew I should've taken the Dreadaxe. Chappy would've been dead on the first round...

Ah well, more interesting this way. Makes for better fights.

heh, don't worry about it, gave me a good laugh.

One thing though, not that it would have made much difference, but my character had lightning claws, not a crozius. I'm not sure if you took that into account and wrote him with a crozius because, well, a chaplain without a crozius arcanum is really unfluffy.

By damnation I did do that didnt I!? Frag, I rolled for it as lightning claws and wrote it as a crozius..

Well imagine what mistakes I might have made if I had done all the fights instead of asking for another member to help if they felt like writing...

ok for any wargear mistakes it was all darkreevers fault as he sent me what they do. The +1I for combat drugs was *points viciously in Darkreever's direction*.

Also Archtype you PMed me saying that I shouldnt have used the hit 1st ability of combat drugs. I assumed you would use it as Kalith and Mystery both hit at I8 and Khalis and Kriz'nor both hit at I7, hitting 1st in the arena is valuable.

Also its a bit hard to keep Mysteries identity a secret. The instand Kalith notcied a huge ravening beast coming straight at her I think she knows what it is. Besides I thought it wasnt important as he died anyway. Just shows the importance of invulnerable saves and the 'nids didn't have any.
