I tested my newly painted Slaanesh army against my friends Ultra Marines Termie build. His list was roughly this:
Epistolary w/ Termie Armor, Force Weapon, Storm of the Emperor's Wrath, Veil of Time, Psychic Hood = 170 pts
7 Assault Termies w/ Lightning Claws and Furious Charge = 344 pts
2x 5 Termies w/ 2 Assault Cannons = 240 pts
2x 5 Scouts w/ Sniper Rifles and Vet. Sergeant w/ Teleport Homer = 108 pts
LRC w/ Smoke and Dozer Blades = 273 pts
My list was:
Chaos Lord w/ Dark Blade, Chaos Bike, Sorceror, Furious Charge, Combat Drugs, Warp Talisman, 6 Slaanesh Minor Psychics, Demon Mutation, Armor, Frag Grenades, Demonic Strength, Spiky Bits, Personal Icon = 307 pts
Chaos Lieutenant w/ Personal icon, Infiltrate, 2x Lightning Claws, Personal Icon, Frag Grenades, Sorceror, 6 Slaanesh Minor Psychic rolls, Demonic Mutation and Strength, Warp Talisman = 211 pts
5x 6 Demonettes = 90 pts
12 Demonettes = 180 pts
2x Defilers w/ Indirect Fire = 175 pts
The mission was Cleanse, normal version on a 4x6 table. There was roughly one piece of terrain in each quarter although we scatter terrain as a house rule because alot of players love to abuse it. One piece was in the center, more so towards and right of me. My Defilers were behind forests, the ones somewhat in my quarter. His LRC was in the foreward position of his quarter somewhat behind the center ruin. His "attack squad" was inside. My Bike Lord was as close as he could be to the LRC, hiding behind a forest strip. His Scouts occupied his back forest and the other sqyad started as close as they could to my Bike Lord. My Lieutenant was in the quarter to my right (I had the bottom left he had the upper right, from my point of view.)
The Biker Lord popped out of his cover with no problem and stopped right before the Scouts. The Defilers tried to bomb the far off Scouts but the templates flew astray. The Lord made up for the machines failures by killing all 5 Scouts and keeping the spirit of his demon blade in check.
Ultra Marines 1st:
The Land Raider crept foreward and popped it's hatch as the attack squad disembarked with their Librarian. My Biker Lord tried to use his Siren power but the Librarian's Hodd barely nullified it. The Crusader ended up doing no wounds to him because of no rending and misses. I had planned on my Lord dying 1st turn to pull attention away but the shooting hadn't done it. Than he moved oneto the assault phase where his full attack squad jumped my Lord. I decided to roll for 3 CD powers but I rolled three 6's, surely his Dark Blades doing. This left the Lord dead off an overdoes and the attack squad no where to go. The consolidated 3" back to the LRC and sat in the open.
After momentarily lamenting over my Lord's untimely death, I realized this was good for me. Nothing in the assault squad had anything strong enough to punch through Defiler armor so if I could get them in combat I could chip away at them and keep my machines safe from shooting. The Defilers made haste towards the squad, neither breaking down in forest. The demons that were summoned that turn (every squad but the big squad) scattered around, Two sqauds were close enough to the LRC to move towards it and assault later. One went off towards the Scouts so they moved toward them. The other two went down where nothing was and moved toward the Termies and Co. The Lieutenant made for the Scouts but kept to terrain. Shooting saw two Defiler shells laughed off by the Terminators as expected. In combat only one Defiler made it but he sliced down two Termies. The Demonettes ripped into the LRC like paper and didn't even roll a 6 to penetrate so none of them were lost. One other Demonette squad made it into the Scouts and ripped them up for no losses of their own.
Ultra Marines 2nd:
One of the shooty Termie squads came in and my opponent put the squad over his recently dead Scouts body. As I handed him the scatter dice he said it didn't scatter because of the Teleport Homer. I than told him it had to be placed before-hand and didn't magically turn on when it's handler died. We consolted the Codex for proof and the wording agreed with me so I let him replace them, which he did about 5" away from the LRC ruins. The scattered back 8", about 1" short of flying off the table. I was almost so happy. The newly arrived Termies opened up on my Demonettes with everything -1 Storm Bolter and because of misses and ability to roll 5's none died. I love my ladies. He than sadly moved onto combat where he lost another Termie and did nothing. It was at this point he berated himself for not casting Veil of Time for the added Ld help but luckily he passed the test anyways.
The alst squad came in and flew toward the Termie combat. The 2nd Defiler crawled toward his fellow walkers fight. The Lieutenant made for the Termies as did the nearby Demonettes but they tripped over rotting Scout bodies and didn't move much. The big Demonette squad as well as the second Defiler smashed into the assault squad and the rest of the Demonettes used one thing or another to hide behind. In combat half the Demonettes died for only one Termie killed as the Termies finally had something to stab and the Defilers ate another Termie. The Demonettes passed Instability and moved in some.
Ultra Marines 3rd:
The other shooty Termie squad came on the board inbetween the board edge and 2nd Defilers back armor. I was very glad of the fact the Termies dare not shoot him or else a stray bullet might kill their beloved Librarian. :ninja: They instead gunned down my Lieutenant who attempted to Siren himself into Marneus Calgar but instead ended up looking like a giant "Screw Ultra Marines" sign. At least that was my reasoning. The other shooty squad moved toward the LRC recage only pausing to blow all but one Demonette away from the Scout eating squad. In combat another two Termies died as well as the rest of my Demonettes, which the Defilers didn't care much about.
The one left over Demonette jumped behind terrain to save half her squads points while the rest of the demons ran behind the LRC, it's nearby forest or into the Termie combat as was one squads case. When combat came my opponent again remembered he forgot to cast Veil of Time but was happy when he karate dodged all the Demonettes Rending and his squad and him slice and diced them all down. The Defilers squished another Termie as I decided that combat was a meat grinder for anything the Termies could actually hurt. They passed their Ld test and decided to die on.
Ultra Marines 4th:
The 1st Termie squad ran to the forests edge and just barely missed a line of fire to some Demonettes. The 2nd squad ran forward to do some much overdue Defiler smashing. In combat they were rewarded with one Penetrating hit resulting in a 1 on the dice roll. They were ignored by the Defilers who squished the last Termie with Lightning Claws but the boys in blue held on.
The "hidden" Demonettes ran up and over the LRC ruins and assaulted the squad trying to kill the Defiler and as expected slaughtered them to a man. The Defilers failed to hit the Librarian as he wished he's grabbed a Thunder Hammer on his way out. The Demonettes went a vast 1" back to the LRC ruins.
Ultra Marines 6th:
He cast Veil or Time and moved back with his left over Termies as they shot down a few Demonettes. In combat the Librarian again tuck and rolled his way out of danger.
The Demonettes ran full speed to the Termies and killed them all as their sister went and captured captured table quarters, giving me them all. As the perfect ending the Defilers finally speared the Librarian to the ground as I smiled upon an Ultra marine playing field.
*Note* I've been getting alot of feedback that my army is "to risky" and "not competitive" from people on here. It's already won two Rogue Trader's and is going to compete in at least two Games Days next year. It isn't more risky than any other army just more fun and in my opinion hard to meta-game against. Only two things really hurt me and one was psychci hoods which I overcame anyways. I just had to speak up to defend my army and if anyone ever wants to try it out look for me at big tournies or at any store in AZ.
Once again Assault Termies seem to have really not done as well as a standard termie squad. Gratz on the win.
You said there was one other thing that hurt you. What?
Chief Inspector Dreyfus: Are you wounded?
Clouseau: No. Fortunately I was saved by the darkness.
Chief Inspector Dreyfus: So what we need is more light.
I'm pretty sure that daemon prince is illegal.
I can't seem to find my codex but I think you are over the limit on Daemonic Gifts and wargear...
Well, at least I like your list. Looks good, especially with the indirect fire support.
"When one man dies it is a tragedy. When thousands die its a statistic."
Whether that Lord is illegal or not (probably is, at 300+ points), it was sure a waste to see him kill 5 scouts before OD'ing on combat drugs...Ouch.
Yeah I get that alot, the Demon Prince is NOT illegal for the record. I have checked it on Army Builder as well as manually. Because of the update certain things don't count towards his Wargear limit. Only the Demonic Gifts, Combat Drugs and the Dark Blade go against his Demonic Gifts. The psychic abilities etc. do not. I forgot to post the other thing that hurt me (I was half asleep when I posted this) and that was swarm armies as my army is very elite and they also take up room to summon the demons which might kill them. That's why I brought in the Defilers.
Well that is what he gets for being an idiot and not taking and thunder hammers. Or anything to really kill armor for that matter. Gratz on the win, I'd like to see how well this army does against an army with alot of firepower though.
Well seing as how almost half, maybe more, has an invul save, he can take a beating. And also, if you don;t have a psychic hood, or fail to stop that siren, you are gonna get screwed from his lord. Even is he does not make the psychic test, he turbo boosts to you side of the table and then has a 2+ invul save from all shooting. Yeah you have to get really lucky or he has to not be so lucky.
Well as far as the good against alot of shooting, it does well. When a shooting army can't shoot at what I have on the table, they start to lost heart which helps me psycologically at least. Than the demons rush them and few amries that are ashooty are good in CC too.....
