TO: Captain Sicarius of the Ultramarines, CinC Adeptus Astartes in Medusa V Theater of Operations
FROM: Chaplain Caedfel of Blood Angels Task Force Falchion
ASTROPATH: Rye N’ Delp
SUBJECT: Engagement with Orkoids at Geryon Strip Mines
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Death is the servant of the righteous
Deployed as part of Medusa Defense Task Force 138 "Thor's Hammer," elements of Task Force Falchion continue to support Operation Rolling Thunder.
Cleanse and burn missions around the Geryon Strip Mines continue. From our forward operating base we can see flashes on the horizon—heralds of the battle going on in nearby Edethor. Refugee trains, escorted by a mixture of Imperial Guard and PDF units, pour out, headed for temporary prefab camps. It was one of these refugee trains that brought us another engagement.
A single vehicle, a cargo-20, had fallen behind from a particular group of refugees. Veteran Scout Sergeant Josias reported that it was being pursued by a number of orkoids, all daubed with crude blue glyphs. Josias and I believe them to be from the “Deathskullz faction of orkoid society. At my order, a number of Blood Angels from Task Force Falchion were dispatched to protect the cargo-20. Veteran Sergeants Jacobus, Arturus and Barnabas, along with Brother Clemens and his landspeeder, led their squads against the xenos.
The first battle erupted along the rough hewn road the cargo-20 was traveling along. The orkoids noted the approach of our battle-brothers and ceased their pursuit, allowing the refugees to escape. The battle was pitched, and soon scores of dead greenskins littered the area. However, weight of numbers began to tell. Veteran Sergeant Jacobus and Barnabas were badly injured, and Veteran Sergeant Arturus is missing presumed dead. I sent reinforcements under the command of Veteran Sergeant Benedictus.
After being forced to withdraw by the orkoids (of the Skullbreakaz subgroup of the Deathskullz faction), the survivors of the first battle were rallied by Veteran Sergeant Benedictus in the ruins of an old ore refinery, and launched a second assault on the enemy positions around the Geryon Strip Mines. Tactical squads Benedictus and Davidus took cover in rocky outcroppings surrounding the area the orkoids had chosen as camp (they were busy dividing up our battle-brothers looted wargear, the scum), while Brother Clemens moved his landspeeder to support them. Bike Squad Hieronimus waited in the shadow of the rocks as a mobile reserve.
Disciplined heavy bolter fire from squads Benedictus and Davidus destroyed the orkoid command trukk (miraculously repaired, having been destroyed in the first engagement..) in their first salvo. The orkoids stopped their quibbling over their spoils, and came at our battle-brothers over the sludge and waste from the nearby abandoned mining facilities. Squads Benedictus and Davidus took a heavy toll as the foul xenos advanced, with Brother Clemens land speeder assiting. Bike Squad Hieronimus moved to interpose themselves between the oncoming orkoids and the Tactical squads. While Squad Hieronimus was able to destroy the lead elements of the assault, the sheer number of orkoids overwhelmed them. Veteran Sergeant Hieronimus did not survive the assault, though two of his squad were found to merely be unconscious. The green tide then shot down Brother Clemens and his landspeeder. I regret to report that he too, and his gunner, were lost.
Squads Benedictus and Davidus continued to pour boltgun and heavy bolter fire into the enemy ranks, and slowly but surely their disciplined fire began to tell, and the impetus of the orkoid charge faltered just before the rocks in which Benedictus and Davidus had taken up their positions.
I have ordered Veteran Sergeant Benedictus to bring his surviving troops to Rally Point Gamma. We will link up with them with the rest of Task Force Falchion, and, once we have refitted, will continue our missions in support of Operation Rolling Thunder. Veteran Sergeant Benedictus has done the Imperium a great service today, and has restored the honor tarnished during the first engagement against the Skullbreakaz. Veteran Sergeants Jacobus and Barnabas have been sent to the Falchion for the Sanguiniary Priests to tend to. I have elevated Veteran Sergeant Benedictus to battlefield command of the combat patrols. On a further positive note, Veteran Sergeant Gasparus has returned to duty.
A final note. Veteran Scout Sergeant Josias sent me a burst transmission from one of his forward patrols. There is some kind of odd tower being constructed quite a few klicks away from our current position. Josias believes it to possibly be some kind of artifact of the Ruinous Powers, though he has no hard evidence to support this, only his scouts intuition. I have passed this information on to Uriel Bartholomew of the Dark Angels as he may be in a better position to further investigate this tower while we refit.
We continue our missions in support of Operation Rolling Thunder.
The Emperor Protects,
((Pair of combat patrols against one of our ork players. One went his way, one went mine. When I managed to get him in the open, I shot him to pieces...but when he managed to get into close combat...geesh. Orkses is tuff Have a few pictures from the battle, I'll upload them when I have time, especially the one of his "Chevrolet" wartruk )
"Wife! You are abusing that Leman Russ model!"
Again another good report.
never vs orks before heard their fun to beat and be beaten by,
I was wondering if when puting up battle reports, are you aloued to have images with them.
As I am going to write up one of my own for the first time I may diffenty will need
somthing good to make it worth reading.
I liked the fluff mixed with the actual role results.
Thou shalt not howl when the Chapter Master bends over. (Full Moon Out Tonight!)
Gambling for grots is not allowed.
Thou shalt not use thy multi-meltas to light campfires. (In a similar manner, thou shalt not use the Terminator Captain's chainfist to open tins of baked beans)
A very clean battle report. Very easy to read. BAttle reporst like this make it fun to read. Look forward to your next battle report.
Why use science and education when ignorance and superstition will work just as well.
Excellent report. I love the after-action report to your superiors. Gives it a definite "in-the-military" type feel. Man, if I had known that I would have had this many of my marines finished in time for the campaign, I would have likd to try to get my marines some love too. But My Eldar are doing well enough for themselves.

Here's a picture of that neat wartrukk I mentioned. Cheers
