Saturday, ToyWiz held its first tournament and it was very fun and I am looking forward to more. There were 12 players 4 of which were guard (2 Armoured Companies) and only one space Marine list. I took my Bad Moon Orks and they did as well as I expected, I could not have asked for more except for more time you will see why later.
I ran this list
Kustom Mega Blasta
3 Ammo Runts
X2 12 Flash Gitz- 155
X2 12 Flash Gitz- 171
4 Big Shootas
X2 16 Grots- 70
16 Slugga Boyz- 195
3 rokkit Launchas
10 Burna Boyz- 142
X2 8 Trukk boyz- 114
X2 Wartrukk- 45
Red paint Job
3 Killa Kanz- 150
Looted Basilisk- 125
Game 1 vs. Sean's Biel Tan Eldar- Unplanned Assault
Mission- Everyone but two compulsory Troops started off the board and came on as reserves. And on turn 3 we would roll for mission, also it had a weird 18 inch deployment diagonal line.
I don't know what was on him
I don't know
X3 5 Dark Reapers
X2 9 Guardians
8 Warp Spiders
2 scatter lasers
This was pretty easy for me, I started with the two bs git squads (i had to) and he took a reaper squad and the banshees. It was on a city fight board so I had plenty of cover and got turn 1. Turn 1 I let loose the big shootas at the reapers in the bunker and the puny pansies took three casualties and fled the board, his return fire had me pass my cover save. This was how the game went pretty much the entire game as I got all my units by turn 3. One trukk managed to run up the flank and after the trukk survived the spider barrage they were massacred in assault and I hid with them. He had few unitsso they were all very close and since he had to move so much I only lost the bassie, 2 trukks and half a rokkit git squad. My Warboss whooped ass taking out both reaper squads with his gun while the big shootas took down the light vehicles and the rokkits shook the heaviervehicles. We ended up playing for VP and I had near 1000 and he did not even have 300. Victory to the Orks!
I received 17 Points and he received 6. Sean was an awesome opponent, no rules disputes and a pretty cool army. We both got full comp, paint and sports from each other.
Game 2 vs. Vinny's Deathguard (Damn) Cleanse II (Even more Damn)
As you can tell I do not like Deathguard or cleanse. Especially since my army, who is great at VP Denial was playing in a game with that weird deployment and no victory points. And to add insult to annoyance, Vinny is an accomplished Warmonger.
Great Unclean One
7 Chosen Plague Marines
X3 7 plaguebearers
7 Plague Marines
power fisted champ
X2 7 plague marines
2 plasma guns
I got first turn and that was very good, but my first two turns shooting wielde very bad results all I took out was an infiltrating squad, 2 plague marines and the autocannon predator, I really needed to get the rhinos and the turning point of the game was after he moved his rhino up 12 inches, and I assaulted it with 2 kanz and the boss, That is 12 S10 attacks, and hitonce and I already knew it, I rolled a one to glance on a mutated hull Rhino, this was my turn 2 (I hate my dice). His turn 2 the Greater Daemon pops up aand charges my warboss and does no wounds and as do I, His lord charges the grots kills all in the kill zone, can't reach a unit and flies back and waits to die (which he does). The rest of the game is spent on charging and counter charging units. All he is left with is 2 squads of 3 Plaguebearers, a squad of 7, The Great unclean One (one damn wound left), Lascannon predatrorand 4 plague marines. I have my basilisk, both big shoota squads, one full and one half rokkit squad and one grot squad. This is at the end of turn 4 (end of the game) and he still had 623 victory points and I had 847 but he had 3 table quarters to my one. If the game had gone on the full six turns, we both agree I would have had the advantage after all he was new to Nurgle andwas better with his eldar.
6- 16 loss. Atleast I lost to a Warmonger and again full scores on both sides.
Game 3 vs. Jeff's Drop Pod Marines, Suicide Squad
The battle was straight up VP with normal Depoloyment but you pick a squad to die, this squad is fearless and hits enemies on threes. If it dies the owner gets +150 VP, if it lives its -150. My squad was a rnd his was his dread
His list all mounted in pods
Fear of the Darkness
p fist champ
X2 5 Terminators
One squad with AC and Cyclone, another with 2 ACs
X2 10 Tac Marines
X2 10 Tac marines
This one was also pretty easy, he was also beat by Nurgle although he should not have. I castled with my grots, trucks, and kanz on the outside, as his army came in piecemeal, my army killed them piecemeal. My warboss blasted away 6 marines and 4 Terminators. He only killed a truck boy squad (that mobbed up), a grot squad, and a rokkit git squad. One tac squad was shot down, another was killed by burna boyz, another by trukkboyz and another was brought to 4 by bs gitz in assault. The librarian squad was wiped out by slugga boyz and I popped two drop pods. The dread did not even come in because the game was also ended turn 4. Another Victory to the Orks.
16- 5 Win to Orks
Warboss- Best Man of the Tourney for me, He put 3 wounds on papa nurgle and blasted a lot of things with his kustom mega blasta
BS Flash Gitz- awesome, absolutely, even against the marines, the number of shots they got off were great and they were ignored cause of their awesome range, not one unit of them was brought under half in any game
Rokkit Gitz- Definetely a dissapointment, half of my to wound rolls were ones and they did not do enough tank busting. I might look into getting something else but I will give them more chances.
Grots- one of my favorite units and were great I could not do without them.
Slugga Boyz- Perfect but their shooting was lacking. But their combat was great.
Burna Boyz- another dissapointment, all they did really was provide little ccover.
Trukk boyz- I could have played them much better than I did against the Deathguard. but they were greatr.
Basilisk- Great, but I wish it was more accurate when I needed it to be.
I had great time and finished either 4th or 3rd . Best Painted was Vinny's Nurgle, Best Sportsmanship went to Dave who I believe had Necrons, The best General was Scott's Iron Warrior's who beat two Armoured Companies and the Deathguard. The best overall however because of soft scores was Pete (also a warmonger) with his Armoured Company with allied Sisters. Hope you enjoyed the report.

just wondering, how come none of your mobs have the upgrades to shootas? cause if you're just using normal gitz then its probably better having shoota boyz. they cost less, but they only get 3 special weapons. but with the points you're making up it shouldnt really matter, what with all the extra boyz you're getting. main reason i can see for getting gitz is more dakka, so they can shoot as well at 24" as at 12"
I have been asked this several times, one I like the bad moon paint scheme. 2 In larger or lower point games I do take kustom upgrades. 3. My warboss would not be able to take a mobile plasma cannon. 4th I can't take shoota boyz as both troops and elites, the flash gitz give versatility and it is only 1 point. 5th I have made awesome conversions for my Bad Moon Army that fits in with their fluff. And 6th, it is my playing style, whatever 40k army, I prefer to make it predominatly shooting with lots of cc capability, I love how people are suprised by my orks' shooting. There is no way I am changing that list because I believe I have a good chance against anyone I play with it.Originally Posted by neoviper
It seems to me you mostly got lucky. You seemed to hit alot when Orks don't usually hit alot and alot of things seemed to go your way. I like your list, Orks are one of my top 3 favorite armies. Also the only opponent with a good list was the Nurgle player, drop Marines can rarely win and the guys Eldar didn't have any sort of focus and he picked some of the worst units Eldar have. Congratz on the wins though, I'd like to see your army against some more competitive opponents.
P.S. Wtf is a Warmonger and how many points was the tourney?
Well I get off so many shots that I will hit and I got very unlucky with my rokkits, but very lucky with my warboss thanks to ammo runts. Also I knew the eldar list wasn't very good against most armies because his list only rips up MEQs but he faced two ork players (he beat the second). Also drop pods list are easy for me. If you would look at the title you would see it was an 1850 Tournament and a Warmonger is part of an elite gaming club in New York.
Sorry I wasn't paying attention to the title. >< The "Elite" guy didn't seem very good....
That was his first time playting Deathguard, he ussually uses Eldar.Originally Posted by The Prince of Excess
