    The Map:
The map was a simple 4x4, with medium terrain. Some woods were scattered about the board, with a large ruin on the southern edge and a pretty big hill on the West side.

    The Mission:
The mission was rolled up to be a Recon mission, Gamma level. Dusk and Dawn accounted for nothing in this game.

    The Deployment:
Chaos won the roll for deployment, and took the Northern edge. Since everything either Infiltrated or Deep Struck, the Dark Angels deployed nearly their entire army on the Southern edge. Most of the units deployed on the South. The two Lascannon squads took shelter in the ruins, with the Vindicator to the West and the Assault squad to the East. The big Tac squad deployed to the West of the Vindicator, near the board edge.

Next, Infiltrators. Dark Angels won the roll, so deployed one Scout squad on the Northern side. This pushed the Alpha Legion into the NW corner, giving them little room to deploy. The other Scout squad deployed on the hill on the West side, while the Alpha Legion deployed everything but the Oblits in the NW corner. Autocannons took cover in some thick woods, with the CSM squads taking point. The Raptors deployed on the Northern side, within striking distance of the Scouts, using some Woods to block Line of Sight. The Chaos Lord deployed up close, joining one of the 10x man CSM squads.

    Dark Angels, Turn One
Dark Angels won the roll for first turn. Everything but the two Lascannon squads advance towards the Northern board edge. The Scouts on the Northern side stay put, however.

No shots are open to the Dark Angels, nor any assaults, so their first turn ended without much fuss.

    Alpha Legion, Turn One
The Chaos started off by rushing towards the Dark Angels, eager to get into grips with them. The Lord detaches from his squad, and makes move towards the Assault Marines. One plasma squad moves down the Western board edge, and the two large CSM squads move south towards the Dark Angels. The Raptors jump over the Woods between them and the Scouts, landing right up in their faces.

Shooting saw the Autocannons start firing at the Vindicator. They only scored three hits, none of which caused any damage. The Plasma squad that moved fired upon the large Tactical squad, killing two Loyalists at the cost of one of their own due to over heats. The other plasma squad, that didn't move, took long range shots at a Scout Squad, and killed one, but lost one of their own to a pair of ones. The Raptors fared much better, however, opening fire with five bolt pistols and two meltas at the Scout squad nearby, killing off five with shooting alone. It was sad that the dedicated Assault Squad out shot all three dedicated fire support squads combined.

To finish, the Lord fleeted over some terrain between him and the Assaults.

In the Assault phase, the Lord skipped over the terrain and slammed into the Assault Marines. Five attacks saw five hits and five wounds, which easily cleared the three Marines in his threat range. The Raptors assaulted the Scouts, killing off the remainders at only one loss to their own. Lastly, one of the 10x man CSM squads charged the large Tactical squad, killing off five and forcing them to flee, which saw another two die due to ATSNKF. Suddenly, it was only three on 10.

The Assaults also fled from their fight, finding the Lord to be too powerful. The Lord could not pursue, due to lack of B2B contact. The Assaults ran six inches, putting them dangerously close to the Southern Board edge. In a sneaky move, the Lord ran out into the open and chased them with his Consolidation move.

    Dark Angels, Turn Two
Turn starts with the Assaults unable to regroup due to the Lord being in close proximity, and they flee off the table. Terminators are rolled for, but don't arrive.

The surviving Scout squad moves towards the Lord, which takes them away from the Raptors. One of the two Lascannon squads breaks cover and moves to support the melee still going on, and the Vindicator holds still.

Shooting started off with a big BOOM from the Vindicator, which slaughtered three marines from the nearby attack squad. The stationary Lascannon promptly fried the Chaos Lord, but the Chaos player considered it to be a fair trade for the Assault squad.

Assault phase saw just the Lascannon squad charging to help the melee. Both sides scored only a single kill, and nobody ran from the fight.

    Alpha Legion, Turn Two
Reserves roll for the Oblits is made, but they fail to show.

The Raptors move up the middle of the board, closing in on the second Scouts squad. One of the Melta CSM squads (the one who took the Ordnance Blast) advances upon the Vindicator, getting within six inches of it's front armour. The Plasma squad on the West side moves further down the board.

The Autocannons fire upon some Scouts, the only thing they can see, but only two Havocs have Line of Sight. Each bags one Scout for their trophy rack. The Melta squad fires upon the Vindicator, with one scoring a Penetrating hit and destroying the Vindicator handily.

The Raptors don't fire, for fear of messing up the charge, so instead just go straight into combat with the Scouts. The Raptors kill off four Scouts, but the Scouts ran out of combat leaving the Raptors dumb founded and out in the open.

The Melee with the CSM squad versus two Tactical squads amounted to a whopping zero kills on both sides.

    Dark Angels, Turn Three
The turn started off with the Scouts regrouping and summoning the Terminators with their Teleport Homers.

The Scouts move towards the Raptors (mistake alert - we both forgot that models cannot move during the turn they regrouped.... whoops!). Nothing else moved this turn.

The Terminators opened fire upon the Raptors, killing one with a Rending shot and two others that fail their armour saves. Then the Scouts charged the Raptors, who manage only to suck. In return, they're cut down until only the Champion remains alive, who uses Hit and Run to break off combat.

In the big melee on the West side, one Loyalist marine (from the big Plasma squad) was killed, leaving only two left alive who fled the combat.

    Alpha Legion, Turn Three
The Oblits again fail to arrive, and the Raptor passes his LMS check.

The Raptor Champion, in a last ditch effort to be useful, moves towards the Terminators, intent upon slicing and dicing them. The CSM squad not engaged in combat moves around the wreckage of the Vindicator, gaining them line of sight to the Termies. The Plasma squad in the Northern side moved south a bit, to engage the Scouts.

Shooting started with the Plasma Marines on the West side taking a long shot at the fleeing Tac squad, killing off one more. Only one remained. Next, the CSM squad shot at the Termies, killing off two of them with a Melta and Bolter shot. Autocannons also fire upon the Termies, but their armour holds strong.

The Raptor Champion charged the Terminators, and it looked like he was going to kill off one of the two Assault Cannon termies... but his force field saved him. The Champion was then squished. Oh well.

On the West side, the CSM squad engaged in combat finally broke the Loyalists, cutting them down to two men and forcing them out of combat. The CSM squad regrouped into some woods, very close to the wrecked Vindicator.

    Dark Angels, Turn Four
Both Tac squads regrouped, with the lone Tac marine making his LMS check.

The Scouts moved towards the Northern Plasma squad and opened fire with their pistols, but didn't kill anything. The Tacticals who all regrouped fired upon the Western Plasma squad, but again didn't manage to kill anything.

The Scouts charged the Plasma squad to the North, and both sides kill off one of each other. Scouts, three - Chaos, four. But the Scouts have a 'fist...

The Termies charge the CSM squad that just Melta'd their brother the turn before, and completely massacre them. Only the Champion was left alive, who failed his first Morale check and elected to not reroll. He promptly fled, and made a break for the table edge. He was quickly forgotten, since he couldn't effect the battle any longer. The Company Master with his Sword of Secrets accounted for five kills, which was impressive for even a Chaos Lord.

    Alpha Legion, Turn Four
The Obliterators finally arrive, landing in some clear terrain in the enemy deployment zone, about nine inches away from the Terminators and the remaining Lascannon squad, and about 14 inches south from the melee of Scouts versus Marines.

The remaining Melta squad moves into the wreckage of the Vindicator, not two inches away from the four remaining Terminators.

The Autocannons fire upon the Terminators, causing five wounds. They force a Torrent of Fire check upon one of the two Assault Cannon models, who promptly fails it and dies! The other four wounds are negated by armour.

Next, the Chaos Marines fire into the Terminators, killing off one more with a Meltagun. Only two remained, and the Commander. The Obliterators rapid fire plasma into the squad, killing off both Termies and inflicting a wound upon the Commander.

On the West side, the Plasma squad fires upon the the Tac squad with only two remaining members and kill them both, but at the cost of a fried Plasma gunner.

In the Assault phase, the Chaos Marines charge the Commander. He fights valiantly, and kills two, before he is struck down by a flurry of whirring Chainswords and bolt pistols. (The Chaos Marines inflicted two normal wounds on the Commander, who then rolled snake eyes for his armour checks! But the Powerfisted Champ would've finished him off anyways, so no big loss.)

The Scouts squad smash their way through the Chaos Marines up North, and consolidate six inches to the South, towards the Oblits.

    Dark Angels, Turn Five
The game was drawing to a close now, with only a 5x man Tactical squad, 1x Tactical, and 3x Scouts left on the Dark Angels side. The lone man makes his LMS and moves at the plasma squad on the West. He rapid fires, but fails to cause any damage.

The Scouts move at the Oblits, fire pistols and manage to actually cause a wound upon the mighty beasts. The Lascannon squad opens fire at the Oblits as well, but can't manage to get through their Aura and Armour.

The Scouts charge the Oblits. The regular Scouts can't harm the Oblits, but the Powerfist scores two wounds... both of which are saved by Invulnerable saves. In return for their bravery, the Scouts are squished mightily by return Powerfists.

    Alpha Legion, Turn Five
Not much happened in the final round. The Autocannons fire upon the Lone Tactical marine, cutting him down under the weight of seven wounds. He failed the first, didn't bother rolling the other six. We assume bits and pieces of him might've made a few of the armour checks.

The Obliterators fired upon the last squad, the 5x man Lascannon squad. They kill one wiht Plasma. The CSM squad then moves upon them, firing with three Bolt Pistols and two Meltas. They kill one more, leaving only three. They then charge, let the three meager attacks bounce off their armour, and cut the last three Loyalists down.

    Final Results -
    Dark Angels: 782 VPs.
    Alpha Legion: 2034 VPs.

In the end, not a single Dark Angel survived. Alpha Legion still had the Oblits, half of a Melta squad, and four men in the Plasma squad, all in the deployment zone of the Dark Angels. Additionally, the Autocannon Havocs were left alive.

But Scouts are still Space Marines, no? As a result of ATSKNF, they can move as normal after regrouping, right?

I also want to make the argument that the dice were not good for me that game. Still had loads of fun though.

    Hey, you're right!

Well, damn. That's what I get for playing Chaos all the time.

Pft. You didn't have two Plasma gunners burn themselves off on the first turn, as well as Tank Hunting Autocannons completely failing to harm a Vindicator....

But I do admit your Morale checks were working against you.

Wow, losing that Assault Squad right in the beginning was pretty awful for the DA. Great battle report and good game.

@ Karmoon: There are two larger tables now. An urban one and a desert themed one.

@ everyone else: No, this isn't an elitist group or any sort of special club that you can't join. I swear.
