Hello all, a few friends and i are starting a casual campaign. we're not really worrying with complex points systems or map tiles , more theme based battles ranging from skirmishes to large scale battles, I guess we're going to be developing the storyline based on the out comes of the fights more then anything .
We'll post how things go if any one has any comments or ideas where we can take it that will be great
As this is are first real attempt at any thing 40k there will be a few 'my bads' when it comes to rules and most of are models are primed or just stuck, if you see any ideas for a good adaption for a model or base again let us know that would be great
The story so far......
Based in the imperial backwater, Two planets and a moon, Planet X is a snow planet that we're leaving for now ( see how were going . ) The moon , a jungle landscape used by marines for tactical training . Planet Y ,An imperial urban complex :]
The opening shots of are campaign were fired last weekend , I'll post some pictures when im home tonight or tomorrow.
Scouts from the blue marines ( if anyone knows there name that would be handy ) managed to Reach the battle objective , but did they escape with there lives and the prize ? And the armored might of the imperial guard clashed with the tyranid invader
Hopefully we'll be pumping out a few games a month so looking forward to add more
Ta for now
This sounds cool, looking forward to see more. Those Blue Marines woudln't be the Smurfs (Ultramarines) would they?
It's great when friends get together to do something extra special like a campaign! Hope it's everything you guys dream for it!
On the Jungle moon of .... (if any ones got a name that would be real good ) we had the first small scale skimish ,
Units from the Ultramine scout core were tasked with locating a valuable artifact and holding it till extraction could be made from an nearby extraction point , it all sounded a little to easy....
Units invloved : 3 scouts Squads / 30 hormagaunts, 30 trermagents
we were going for the idea that the hive mind prob wouldn't have hive mind units everywhere and would prob expect the basic troups to deal with any threats on the planet, all tyranid models were taking leadership tests ot using their instinctive behaviour. scouts had to hold the point for twoturns and at least one scout squad had to get to the evac point to meat the transport . Bonus love if for more scouts out
How it went , ~
1st scout squad quickly moved into the target zone ,securing the artifact and getting quickly into cover behind the runis, 2nd scout squad flankin holding more ruins and 3rd held a dominating view on the hillside behind,
Tyranids came forth in waves 20, (10 of each ) under the heavy fire from 3 squads progress was slow and casualtys high For the first two turns the scouts held the horde at bay, without the guiding mind of the hive the gaunts quickly became pinned or ran for cover, (1 poor unit never passed and sat in cover the whole time )
at the end of the 3turn the final wave of tyranids enetered play, brought in from a diffenent location the hungry Aliens started making progress and headed directly towards their pray, Unfortuantly thou alittle to late ,4th Turn scouts having held the location long enough to get the call in to command headed out to the evac zone, supported by fire from the brave scout squad on the hill the artifact eneterd the evac point closely followed by the 2nd squad in rear guard,
Furiously the nids tryed to close managing to Down a single scout before they manged to escape, all wasnt looking good for the lone scout squad left on the hill till marine command diverted the evac truck to collect the squad, driveing to the evac point bolters blazing and onto a glorious victory! :]
Rewards, the Tyranid hormogents received stealth fortheir kill , the brave rearguard scouts received the relentless rule
Summary : a fun battle , really has the feel of how marine / nid fights should be . We made the mistake of having scenary to close to the tyranid start zone meaning any trermagents failing their leadership just stayed where they started or more anoyingly fell back out of range and coulndt fight, over all a good senario

I just fell in love whit this capaign mainly because of the fluff based games and the pics. I have a Suggestion for name of the Planet Canopus.
argh having just finished the next battle report ive found its al timed out , =/ grrrr lossing it all i'll get it on tomorrow nite
Morning all. Right here’s the next battle report of our campaign, the opening blows from the Hive fleet enveloping the sector against the might of the imperial guard.
Imperial Commander Planet Canopus
“Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger. With confidence in our armed forces, with the un-bounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph. So help us immortal God.”
The imperial lines spread across the length of our battle ground, Spear headed with armour, flanked with heavy weapons and supported with regiments of guard the imperial the commander was confident , The Steeled response to the tyranid bio pods raining down on the planet had lead to many of the invaders being struck from the sky before battle and even began , the imperial forces had the chance to strike first and took full advantage of the vast fire power at their disposal, Forming up against the guard was a some what smaller then expected force of the Xenos . Swarms of termegents lead by a massive Tyranid prime and its hulking guard of warriors made excellent target practise for the waiting guns during turns 1 and 2 ,
With no choice but to lumbar into the blistering las fire The tyranids could do little but take casualties as they clawed inch by inch towards their prey, An early attempt to strike at the heavy weapons squads with genestealers had been smashed by the Imperial commander and his able body guard, Bringing the wrath of flame purging the infestation in less then a turn before leading the armour deep into the tyranid swarm . End of tern 2 left only a handful of termegents who had been lurking in cover surviving ,able to open fire they’d managed to gain the first blood for the Xenos by felling some of the commanders comrades , A mauled prime and its guard, worked its way through the cover offered by nearby ruins, The battle field at this point lay deep in the deformed corpses of Xenos , melted and twisted by the furious incoming fire,
Turn 3 The over confident Imperial commander had moved the bulk of his armour sweeping across the battlefield to harass the Xeno lines , The vast Hive mind sensing now was the time to strike brought down a barrage of bio spores onto the vulnerable guardsman’s flank , spewing forth a swarm of gaunts, they quickly cut down a squad before moving on to engage the rest of the nearby terrified men . As the battle waged on the now lone Prime stalked up to some nearby high ground , due to a bizarre series off commands a lone squad of snipers were encamped on the forward rocky out crop, The prime taking an opportunity struck with primal strength ripping apart the men with a flick of his massive bone swords, As the last man fell a mighty roar was let loose across the battlefield returned in turn by a the sound of heavy weapons’ firing on his position , The Prime was quickly obliterated by multiple missile fire leaving the assult in danger of faltering ,“Tanks! Where are the bloody tanks?!”
-Unknown Guardsman –
Last turn left the guards hard pushed to slow the onslaught of the enraged gaunts , Ripping and tearing their way through the guards the screams and cries of the dyeing men were drowned out by a massive explosion, a huge cloud of black smoke billowed from the heaviest of the imperial armour. The recently arrived carnafex had crawled from its bio casing and it was angry, The hive mind having infused a boiling rage in the caranefexs tiny mind it charged forward and in one mighty sweep its huge claw buckled the tanks armour splintering the tank leaving the game in a bloody draw J
Summary : A great and bloody start to are planet war, a couple of ‘my bads’ with rules in this game , Hadn’t realised gaunts couldn’t assault the same turn as they land and you cant consolidate into combat J Rewards :The gaunts received ‘feel no pain’ and the Imperial guard command ‘hit and run ‘.
Thanks for now

Evening All It's been a bizy week for are campaign, Are next fight is a 600point night fight. based else where pn the jungle moon the imperial forces that first alerted the Marines of the Xenos are attacked
Here's are next instalment of the story , Else where on the The jungle moon the imperial guard forces that first raised the alarm are amushed in a night time raid by the Tyranids
As The Imperial Guard Patroled in the cooling evening breeze little did they know what lay in wait, biding its time for the fall of darkness the hive mind was laying a trap. Turn one saw the tyranid forces swarm forthof the under growth towards the imperials , tearing down the distance between them selves and the terrifeid Guards men leaving them only a short distance to the nearest man.As Guardsman Peters walked his now well worn route sumthing caught his eye , Peters Flicked on his night vision and looked around , an area only meters ahead was ilumianted, dark seathing objects filled his viewer as the Terror well up he shoulder his riffl eand opened fire , his Las fire peirced the darkeness doing little but alerting those nearby. Felling but a few of the horde even with the guiding light of a near by armoured unit the guardsman could do little but pray and hope their ranks would hold ,
Turn Two Lead to the first of the carnage , The skittering of the Guants climbing over the rocky outcrops surrounding the heavy wepons teams was muffled by the 'thud thud ' of an oncoming monster , With little Warning the xenos spilled out of the darkness and onto the frontlines , smashing any resistance as bodys and limbs were torn from each other , Two Units Fell in a blink of an eye , their heavy wepons drenched in blood and sinew,
"Who told you to die? Keep fighting!"
Striking back with fury The Unit command disembarked the command transport and unleashed fire accross the battle field , paired with the fire from the nearby rocket squad the Xenos were soon left in peices smouldering , There onslaught slowing , Before the the xenos could be completley iradicated the remaing gaunts suicdialy charged down the Rocket squad. maiming and killing the small unit the survior quickly turned and ran .
Turning the heavy flamers on the last of the gaunts baking the ground and setting the near by bush alight the imperial comand imbarked back on the transport , from inside the sounds of radio chatter bearly muffled out the noise of the massive creaters now lurking outside, as they drove to put some distance from the nearby threat the frantic radio chatter wad suddenly interupted by a calm and calcaulating voice, two words could be clearly heard "Strike Confirmed" Quickly checking the display screens mounted in the cab they could see what looked like 3 comets spinning towards the open ground not far from there current location .
Straining its massive head upwads the massive form of a screamer killer saw the bright lights in the sky as well, Spurred on by the nearby by Prime the hulking force of the creature picked up speed and charged towards the open ground as well ,
Turn 4 saw the arival of the reinforcements, Two Squads of marines Emerged from the drop zone, Their massive forms dwarfing the battered imperial guard before them, Moving to the nearby cover the marines set up heavy bolters and rockets aiming towards wrecked outpost, As the Chimeras search light scanned the undergrowth it picked up the silowet of the charging caranfex, Almost instanty the darkenss split as gunfire cut though the undergrowth and onto the massive creature,The thick Chittin ignoring the incoming fire the screamer killer aproached the marines and hurled a buring phospharas ball , Bio Plasma exploded over the marines vaporsing 2 men where they stood, the sudden flash of light iluminateing the landscape showing the forms of the prime and its obdy guard not far away,
Turn 5 and 6 The last of the Marines came into Play , The comander emerged from his transport to let loose his anger against the warriors, the rocky crator which the marines were standing in made difficult going. stumberling under the fire the warriors made slow prorgess for the remainder of the game, Spurred in to anger against the bright light on the chimera the hunter killer chaised the transport round the nearby bushes spewing more balls of bio at ont of the marine squads"All was lost. The Xenos scum, who smashed us all night, were hurtling towards us again. We readied ourselves for death. And then Death came. Ten Space Marines appeared in the midst of the alien swarm. They were all in Blue and they set about the foe with the very fury of the Emperor himself! They saved us, and the whole damned Imperial line."
Result : another draw but good fun, Its the first time we've tryed a night fight and it was worth it! The timely arival and actions of the reserve marines saved the guard from a very bloody end ,
