MBVW09 Preliminary Round Tomb Revival vs Assisted Penitence

MBVW09 Preliminary Round Tomb Revival vs Assisted Penitence
Annihilation with Dawn of War deployment Assisted Penitence gets first turn Tomb Revival fails to seize

    Total Points = 1500

You are commanding a mighty Necron phalanx.Your lords wield mighty orbs of ancient power, allowing the most blasted remains of your forces to reform. The Monolith, an ageless weapon of war, will resist the heaviest fire, and can both rain death on your opponents and bring back your dead. The Spyder scurries the back lines, with a support scarab swarm that it rebuilds as needed, ready to assault anything that gets too close. Advance, and let your gauss weapons annihilate any and all opposition. You may be out-manouvered and outgunned, but your number is Legion and your name is Death.

    Assisted Penitence

    HQ
    Inquisitor Lord Karamazov
    205

    Priest (Shizaru)
    Eviscerator, Power armour, laspistol
    75

    Elites
    Vindicare temple assassin (Harvey)
    110

Mistress (Pompadour) & 11 Sisters Repentia
    (joined by the priest)
    250

    Troops
    5 Arbites ('the fuzz')
    2 melta guns
    70

    5 Arbites ('the filth')
    2 melta guns
    70

    Fast Attack
    --

    Heavy Support
3x Penitent engines ('Penitents of Mizaru')

3x Penitent engines ('Penitents of Kikazaru')

3x Penitent engines ('Penitents of Iwazaru')

    Total Points =1500

    The plan :
All the walkers line up along the front, with Karamazov roughly central.
Behind him are the repentia (joined by the priest), shielded to either side by the cover-providing arbites (who also serve to block charged at the repentia).

Harvey targets power fists of squads about to be caught by the penitents (no fist = no chance).

Karamazov keeps the arbites from running and assists them in dealing with tanks and transports.

Consolodation moves are used to 'aim' penitents at new squads and stop them bunching up.

The repentia stay spread out behind the walkers/arbites for cover / protection from blasts.

I believe that unfortunately, the overwhelming amount of firepower represented by the Necron army will easily be able to overmatch the inquisitional forces. The sheer volume of glancing hits will end the threat of the penitent engines. The only other very dangerous unit are the sisters repentia, which again, the necron army can pour fire onto until dead.

Both armies are actually really good, but I believe every Sisters army should include at least one Exorcist, and I'm not a huge fan of Penitent Engines. The Necron army can bring a lot of firepower to bear, so that's the way my vote's going. But this one's a close one.

    I vote for Tomb Revival.

I was only messing when I said for someone to post a list with sista repenta! A whole 10 troops (GEQ at that) at 1500pts is not going to work.

Necrons will laugh this off the table with very little worry.

Adding my vote for a necron win. Not enough pressure on the necrons from the witch hunters and all the above reasons too.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.

The nine penitent is nothing to laugh at and I feel sorry for anyone who would have to face that, but the witch hunters give away too many easy kill points and against 20 immortals I don't see too many sister surviving. Tomb Revival wins hands down.

The above Reasons are why i'm voting Necrons... it's a shame because it looks like an interesting list on the sisters side.

NECRONS, though 9 Pentinent Engines would really put down the hurt. Not enough objective-taking ability though and waaay too many KP.
