Ive just started playing tau, ive been confused by the rules about there
movement by the rules and other tau players, can anyone tell me the legal
moving distances for tau units including the move in the assult phase , and are there any special rules as they use jet packs. any help would be most appreciated Nick ;Y
It is of particular use to move move your jetpack-equipped suits in and out of cover, allowing you to move back into cover after shooting OR just to move further back from the enemy. It means you should be able to keep your jetpack-equipped troops out of assault range of enemy footsloggers for the duration of the game if you play things right.

Just a note, although people are being very helpful here, forum users should note that including specific descriptions of rules is contrary to copyright law.
It's not just the points for specific items that you should not discuss.
Where possible give page references to the rule which answers the question.
Are there any copyright lawyers out there that can clarify this point - and forgive me, Brother Z, if that's what you actually are (mea culpa!)

JSJ isn't as much about not getting assaulted as it is never receiving any kind of return fire by anything other than indirect / extremely fast moving enemy units. Best way is to sit behind a piece of size 3 area terrain so that nobody can see you, use your regular movement to go into the terrain (avoiding dangerous tests), shoot out, then jump back behind it.

Certain posts will be deleted and/or editted. Its not just copyright law, its also the forum rules.
On a side note, if someone can give nobby the correct rule book pages I would be grateful as I'm at college at the minute and don't have access to my rule book.

The rules are on page 55 in the main rulebook, under "Jump Infantry", right column, "Jet Packs", specifically the second paragraph: "In the Movement phase, ..." If there's something there you don't understand, nobby182, please point it out so we can assist you further.
