I'd like to know that because the german codex says that they're independent characters. Today I had a look into an english copy and saw them only have the independent status. Is that a translation error or has there'e been a faq I don't know about?
16,000+ of Eldar (only need flyers)
7,000+ of Nids (want heirophant)
6,000+ of Space Marines (need rever titan)
4,400+ of Cygnar (all models for the faction)
1,500+ of Legion (just started)
Sounds like a translation problem. They are *not* independant characters and may be singled out in shooting like any other unit.
Zing! too slow =(

I expected that answer. Damn German books! They're full of mistakes, it's unbelievable.
This situation about Independent models is referred to on P.50 BGB, third paragraph beginning 'In addition...' under "Characters in Battle".
