I tried looking through the forums but I couldn't quite find the answer I was looking for. Currently Warhammer 40K is in the 4th edition, but what year did that come out? I'm looking at buying the Special Edition Rulebook, the one with the slipcase, leather bound cover...all that goodness. What I don't know is if it's current with 4th Ed. It says it was published in 2004, so I'm hoping it will be, but I just wanted to double check.
This ed has been around for roughly 3 years now. Editions tend to last for at least 6 years, but that could extend as the rules become more stable. GW don't sell anything other than 'current' rulebooks.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone

I was acutally going to purchase that not too long ago but than that question came up in my mind...Is there a difference in price?

I had assumed it was more expensive. I've been procrastinating dropping $50 on the rulebook and had seen the special edition one on Ebay for around $40. However, as luck would have it, I was out-bid in the last few moments of the auction.
Oh well, I have since come to grips that I'm going to have to sink the full price into the rulebook eventually. Hey, at least I got a monolith while I was in spend-happy mode!
