Been playing a Eldar player lately with my Tau who has the Veil of Tears on his Harlies. We mostly agreed that the veil would work vs smart missile systems at the time just to get through the game but I wanted input on what you all think. Also, wanted to know if I could defeat the veil by using a markerlight to allow another target to shoot at it under its use to negate the night fighting rule.
In reading the Markerlight rule... "To allow the firing unit to ignore the effects of the Night Fighting rule when shooting at the marked unit."
The Veil of Tears is not the Night Fighting rule... though it follows the same rule in its use.
Thats my take. Anyone else?
I would have to agree that the ML would not pierce the VOT since its a psychic power that just happens to be similar to nightfighting.
Don't think smart missiles work either since you need no LOS, but you still have to measure to see if your in range.
1. yup Vot should stop SMS, it removes the targets from the shooters mind or circuits in the event of drones, or crons for example) the same is arguably true for both the missile and the gunner on the vehicle that shot them
2. To be honest RAW says VOT should protect, fluf wise it makes less sense, but then when did GW ever get rules and story completely together?
Everything you have been told is a lie!
The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. Bring them understanding of the power of ourselves through our strength and their fear. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all fragments will be smashed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be consumed
A markerlight wouldn't work with VOT as already stated - unless the unit wishing to shoot the harlies managed to roll well enough to target them in the first place. If both ML and the other unit could spot the harlies then yes, otherwise - no.
As for SMS - I would also lean towards them being affected by VOT - even though they don't require line of site they still need a target, and seeing as you can't target the harlies without triggering VOT...
I had assumed as much but just wanted everyone elses opinions on it. Thanks for the feedback.
