We are having a local discussion in my Gamestore about whether the Attacks characteristic can go over 10.
The arguement started with a Chaos dude whielding a Deamon weapon of Khorne which on the charge could potentially reach more than 10 attacks.
According to the rules though there is no characteristic that can go over 10. So would said guy be an exception?
The local shopowner started a competition about which other single model could (if the rules allowed it) reach more than 10 attacks. Anyone got a clue? I reached 10 with an Eversor on the charge but cant think of anything else... anyone?
Since when did the Daemon Weapons, extra CCW's, or charge bonus ever actually add to the the model's Attack Characteristic? That's gonna be the main debate...

If you read the description of the Daemon Weapon in the Chaos codex...it says you add an extra D6 attacks in close combat. It doesn't increase your attack characteristic.
It's the same way that the bonus attack for having two close combat weapons doesn't actually increase your model's attack characteristic, it's an extra attack above your characteristic.
Also in the main rulebook, look at page 40 for attacks in close combat. It'll explain that each engaged model strikes with the number of attacks in their attack characteristic added to any bonus attacks the models receive, such as having two close combat weapons or for charging.
Having more than 10 attacks because of a weapon like a daemon weapon is completely within the rules and legal. It doesn't change your attack characteristic. They're bonus attacks on top of them.
Also, for wondering about other models that can get more than 10 attacks: The only other ones I can think of is a any chaos lord using a daemonic steed and a daemon weapon. Use their attack characteristic added to the bonus for using the steed, plus the attacks from the daemon weapon, and the bonus for charging. I believe the ones besides Khorne can get to 11.

The old-school Solitaire could reach something like 15-17 attacks on the charge, if I recall correctly.

whats the :old school" solitaire? Sounds like a harlequin thing but I dont know...
I am asking for details cause there is a mini competition going on... if anyone finds the answer there is a troop choice to be given free from the shop
Yes they solitare can have more then 10 attacks. From the codex on the GW website for the "experimental Harliquins" the solitare has base 4, two weapons, and gains more attacks depending on how far it charges (up to 6) so it would be 4 base + 1 for two weapons + 6 for the charge = 11
As for a deamon weapon, i believe the khorn adds 2d6 attacks, so he can get like 15 attacks o.O
Actually, I think the Solitaire got a maximum of 12; his own basic attacks plus 1 for extra weapon, the single one for charging in the first place, then the extra ones for every inch of his charge range he *didn't* use up to a maximum of 6. I don't think the latter replaced the +1 for charging, but as I seem to have thrown out my Trial Codex, I can't check it up. Grrr!
The Khornate Lord could get 16 if you roll well on the Daemon Weapon roll: his own basic attacks, adding 1 for charging plus the result of a maximum roll.
In the old Chaos Space Marine codex, an Independent Character using a Berserker Glaive, Rage of Khorne, Daemonic Mutation and being in a unit with the Banner of Rage (albeit whose power is only available once per battle) could amass a mere 10! So the new Codex is a little better for the old Khornate guy (boo hiss!)
However, let's remember that the original statline is not altered by these additional attacks; I'm not sure if that wasn't the actual meaning behind the question in the OP?

"Tau Commandment #226: Participants who use Velocity Trackers in the Tau Clay Pigeon Tournament will be disqualified"
The trail codex says "rather then getting +1 attack for charging, a solitare gets +1 attacks for each inch it didnt use" So no, it doesnt get that +1 attack for charging, but the +6 for not charging the full 12''
however as per other posters, no the A characterisitnc is limited to 10, however other things give bonuses, this does not preclude a model attacking more than 10 times
Everything you have been told is a lie!
