the mob rule states that any pack of boys numbering 11+ models counts as being fearless. also that the ork player may choose to use the number of models in the squad as the units leadership.
the neural shredder uses the models leadership against a str 8 hit in order to determine wounds inflicted and it is also a flame template weapon.
my question is, that if i use my shredder against a pack of boys and have to go against there leadership in order to inflict wounds, do i use there normal ld of 7 or rather the higher ld that the ork player may choose like 10 or 9?

Hmm, a tricksy question. On the one hand, Mob Rule! says they can always substitute, not just for Leadership tests. On the other hand, the Mob Rule! rule alters the "mob's" leadership value as a whole. The shredder works on the individual model's leadership stat, not his unit's effective leadership. I am sadly leaning in favor of the Orks at the moment, but remain undecided.
I've always said, and still maintain that the Shredder rolls against an individual model's leadership value. Go ahead and roll whatever saves you get and remove models from the unit as a whole (to prevent sniping and so on), but this thing is literally trying to puree your brain - it doesn't matter how persuasive your commander is on the radio, or how many buddies you've got for backup, it's your brain, you're on your own!
Of course, this is a purely logic based argument, so it may have no bearing on the game at all...
I think that argument doesn't work because it doesn't work for Ork fluff. The presence of other excited Orks really does psychically alter the workinz in his brain =).
thx for your input, but this just looks like another case of orks being totally messed up
especially when players can argue fluff over actual stated rules, it's maddening

Im in favour of using an idividual models ld. Its sort of like using T4 for an instant death test even though a SM on a bike has T5, you use the base ld test. if u did it against my marines id use there ld 8 not my comanders ld 10 as per rites of battle. Still this is all murky ground, tread carfuly.
Likes i said, murkey ground. Still ive got a funny mental image of the callidus going flame on and the orks feeling a slight head acke! is it wise to give an ork a head acke and be close by?
To me this would fall in the same boat as a Wierdboy attached to a mob of boyz. In a unit of 10+ models the Wierdboy's Ld becomes 10 for Psychic Tests. This should hold true for mobs of 10+ Orks vs the Neural Shreddar and the wound roll would be vs 10, not 7.
