A friend of mine and I have an a couple ongoing conflicts:
1) He claims that all Space Marines/Black Templar units have the "Fearless" special rule (5th. Ed. Rules, pg 75) as a part of the "And They Shall Know No Fear..." special rule (Black Templar Codex, pg 22). He says it'd implied. However, I can't find anywhere in the codices or the main rulebook (4th or 5th) where the units are actually stated to have the special rule.
2)He is under the impression that the "Righteous Zeal" special rule (Black Templar Codex, pg. 23) allows each unit to advance D6" per wound taken, rather than D6" per turn any wound is taken.
I think we've finally settled #2, but I'm not 100% sure at this point, so I wouldn't mind some input on that one.
As far as number 1, I think this comes down to a conflict between the "fluff" and the Rules as Written.
Hopefully, someone (or multiple someones) on here can help settle this argument for good.

I just realized I for got to ref any page numbers
"And They Shall Know No Fear" - BT Codex pg. 22
"Fearless" - 5 Ed. Rulebook pg. 75
"Righteous Zeal" - BT Codex pg. 23
On the ATSKNF part, I'd consider asking your friend why certain space marines have the fearless rule (like Chaplains) if they should all get it because of ATSKNF.
They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my SPESS MAHREENS!
It says nothing about "wounds taken". The passing of the morale test means the BT unit moves forward as it would as though it had massacred its enemy in assault - although this would just fall under the normal consolidation rules for this edition (pg 40, main rulebook). Carry out that rule to the letter when the BT pass a morale test.2)He is under the impression that the "Righteous Zeal" special rule (Black Templar Codex, pg. 23) allows each unit to advance D6" per wound taken, rather than D6" per turn any wound is taken.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
Regarding ATSKNF it spells out quite clearly what it does and fearless isn't part of it, it makes them able to regroup below 50% of starting strength, automatically pass regroup tests, and makes them unable to be killed by sweeping advances. The only time "fearless" could possibly come into the equation is that if they are forced to take a sweeping advance test and are caught by the enemy, instead of being killed outright they take extra wounds like a fearless unit would.
