I've recently bought the 5th edition of 40K and it is also my first rule book ever bought.
Just a few quick questions:
-If a unit is in cover, does it get a cover save, then if that fails, an armour save? a.k.a 2 saving throws?
-Does a unit get a cover save when hit by a frag missile launcher if there are objects between the missile launcher and the unit?
-Also if anyone could shed light on falling back. So if a unit fails a morale test it falls back, does it continue to fall back the entire game until it passes a morale test. Do you take the morale test at the beginning fo each turn? After consolidating can you continue your movment, shooting and assault phases?
would really appreciate some help!
I don't think these answers have changed for 5th Ed, so:
*You only get one kind of save. Be it cover, armour, or invulnerable
*I don't see any reason why it wouldn't
*You're correct on this one. Consolidation is only a move you get out of turn sequence. So no shooting or anything afterwards.
Well with the second one I was just wondering isn't the frag missile a solid shot? then it explodes on impact. So if a unit where to get a cover save without being in area cover wouldn't it be like "well half the rocket hit the wall in the way and the other half conitnued on to kill those 3 guys." just doesnt make sense to me?
Yeah, from what I hear, GW aren't too worried about game fluff (like a BT stopping to get shot at before reaching a unit of Guardsmen).
Games Developers try to work reality into a game system that's balanced.
Yeah, they've pretty much ignored 'reality' in most areas, like the assault, kharne just hangs 1" infront of the gun line for a whole turn. Basically they get a cover save, if they pass that part of the missile got knocked off on its way over. If they fail, well it serves them right for playing someone who bothers to use the frag round.
i dont wanna sound mean but wat really helped me was reading the whole book from start to finish. thats every page. it makes you understand it a little more. welcome to 40k
